Hey George sorry for the delay, if you want turbo noise from the exhaust then it’s a case of making the exhaust free flowing, decat or straight pipe. If you want turbo sounds from the engine you need a decent air filter 👍
Hi bud did you used the touran fuse box?? I did at first and my brake lights where stuck on. I ended up using the caddy fuse box and wiring the glow plug relay into that
@@R23EKY. I don’t do Snapchat sorry bud.. that’s your problem with Audi fuse box it’s wired different inside i’e the pin out etc. I explain exactly this in the video. I first used the touran box and it ran but electrics on the van wasn’t happy and brake lights stuck on, I then fitted the caddy fuse box back in and wired the glow plug relay into the caddy loom.
@@R23EKY. yes.. the main massive t40 plug that’s underneath the fuse box the one that comes from the van that’s where you need to swap the wires, you unpin them from the smaller plug T26 and they replace into the bigger plug T40 Then you do away with the 2nd T26 plug all together. I explain it abit in the video and I’ll send you the pin swap that worked for me..
I have just done this conversion and this video has helped me so so much. Thank you so much! I’ve only got one fault code left to solve in vcds and that’s a/c pressure sensor open circuit. It’s a 3pin plug on the left hand side just below the drivers headlight, one is earth and the other 2 disappear into the dash behind the brake servo. Did you have a similar problem with yours? Mine is the same spec as yours (a/c, electric windows, heated mirrors, fog lights from factory) I also still have the doner touran incase I need anymore wiring/plugs Any help would be great! Thanks 👍🏼
Hello bud. Iv been glued to your videos for inspiration. Iv got a 2013 c20 1.6 tdi I want to swap it out cos I’m in desperate need of more power. What engine would you recommend I.e simplicity for electrics and getting good gains from modifying. The van is ready to go with coil overs, flipped axel s3 front breaks gti rear etc etc. any wisdom your able to share would be amazing. 🤙🏻
Hey bud thank you appreciate that 👍, any engine swap in a caddy is virtually the same all the other Vw engines bolts straight in it’s just a case of the ecu and wiring loom that’s abit more involved. I’ve seen on the forums people getting a dpf delete and re maps running 200hp on the 1.6’s.
Appreciate you taking the time to reply. Iv been looking in to what can be done with the 1.6 may end up going down this route to start with before going all out and spending 💷💷💷
Fantastic work. Can I ask you what is the noise after you change gear on boost? Kind of like a higher pitched blowing/expelling air noise. Mine does the same and I’ve always wondered what is was. You can hear it on your test drive at 29.36 and right after you say I’m out at 31.59 cheers
Hi bud thank you 👍👍 after accelerating the turbo has spooled up then as you let off the throttle the turbo vanes (wastegate) closes and let’s all the turbo noise (from spinning fast) out of the exhaust. Petrol turbo cars make a similar noise out of the dump valve in the engine bay. Vrooom tishhh.
I’m half way through this exact swap on my van, the three wires that you said went back into the van Y/B fuel pump Brown- earth B/R don’t know Did you cut the Y/B into the original van loom? Did you work out what the B/R was? Thanks.
Hey Patrick it’s the best thing I ever done to my caddy I much prefer the 2.0 BKD. The Y/B fuel pump wire I ended up just splicing it in so leave it connect in the fuse box and just splice the new loom one into it. I just earthed the brown wire on the earth but right next to the fuse box. I can’t remember what the B/r wire was for I’m sorry. There’s a group on Facebook called caddy engine swaps and in the info section there’s wiring diagrams for all engines so you’ll be able to work it out 👍 hope this helps.
I’ll have a look on there thanks, my T40 plug looks to be a bit different, terminal 6 is already used with a blue and yellow. Hopefully I’ll work it out. Thanks for the reply.
Same here, not sure if I'm supposed to replace the fusebox wires mentioned or just splice into them. The van I'm doing had a cayc 1.6 engine, the bkd maf sensor has four wires three go to the ECU plug but one goes to the original fuse box (12v feed afaik) (black/brown) there is also a red wire with a black tracer that runs from the glow relay up to the blue plug behind the bulkhead panel.
Hi mate, great work! Can I ask a quick question, I've done an Sdi to BXE with a vac box and got that running by tracing wires back to the ecu and re pinning. So I should imagine if I just followed the pins in this video for a bkd I'd be somewhere near? Cheers
Hi Darren thank you appreciate that, yes if you have a vac box it should be similar if not identical. As you say just trace them back to the ecu and repin what you need if I remember rightly I think I only had to repin 3 out of the 5 wires 👍
hiya I’m just wondering if you could help me with the main engine plug on the bkd which wired did you repin as I’ve done the glow plug and vac box but not the other thankyou !!
Hi mate, quick question if you don’t mind. I’ve got a 1.9 BLS Caddy and I’m looking to put in the BMN engine from a Mk5 Golf GT TDI. The Mk5 GT TDI came with 2 engines as you probably know - the BKD (140bhp) and the BMN (170 bhp). Will it be a similar job do you reckon? Cheers👍🏼
Well done mate, you have patience and perseverance that most people don’t. I certainly don’t have it! What are benefits of the BKD engine to make it worth the effort? 6 speed gearbox obviously. Is it a more robust, more tuneable engine or what?
Thanks B-ry, doing involved keeps me sane. When your mind is busy you don’t have time to think of unfixable problems. So the (pre common) rail 2.0 pd BKD is the next engine to the famous 1.9 pd, it’s 16v rather than 8V and is more refined. It’s a quieter smoother engine and the BKD is know. For it’s harder torque punch, after owning the golf and having the same engine I absolutely love them. I’d put one in every vehicle I own if I… (could be bothered) 😂.
I'm watching this because I'm looking at swapping from bmm to bkd.would I be looking at the same issues with wiring from a bmm? I'm not good with the electrical side!
Hey bud I’m pretty sure you’d still need to do some wiring as the bmm is an 8V I have heard people using the original loom as it still runs the BKD engine.
Hi, thanks for the quick reply. If people have used the same loom does that mean you'd just have to swap the ecu? That would be amazing but probably a bit obtimistic? .
hi mate ive recently done this swap but for some reason my van wont rev up properly it revs up slow and stops at 3k then i let the clutch out and it sneaks up to 3.5k it sounds like the wastegate is open if i unplug the black and red wired plug at the front the exhaust goes lound so im presuming the wastegate shuts?thats all i can tell you can you help plsssss🙏
Hi bud I fitted clocks, ecu and the small chip out of the touran key (fitted into caddy key) and it fired straight up no coding at all, I also fitted the cruise control stalks and that worked straight away to 👍
Nice one mate I'm doing the same to mine as everyone who u speak to don't want to tell u nothing or it cost to much not only that I'm looking to do a 2.0 bkd dsg swap
Thanks bud 👍👍 you are so right no one wants to share info on this sort of conversion I messaged a few people with no reply. Hopefully the video helps someone out. I will do a full pin out in the description in a couple of days.
Hey bud, going to be converting my caddy soon, in two minds to use my pd150 arl from my golf or buy a touran and use the bkd. The van is Sdi so might be a lot more involved in the bkd conversion than the pd150. Did you manage to get a write up of parts needed etc?
Hi bud I was toying with the idea of ARL for mine to make it easier but apart from the wiring that took a couple of days the BKD was straight forward. I’ll sit down and do the wright up and add it to the video 👍👍
Hi bud oh mate that will be the best thing you ever did getting rid of that 1.6, I’m a massive fan of the BKD. I havnt done it myself but I’m confident it will be very similar to my swap, it might even be easier regarding wiring but I’m not sure 👍 all the best.

Hey George sorry for the delay, if you want turbo noise from the exhaust then it’s a case of making the exhaust free flowing, decat or straight pipe. If you want turbo sounds from the engine you need a decent air filter 👍
Norton Disney is only 30 minutes from me if I'd known we would of put you guys up for the night
We drove through or near Grantham I thought of you on the way past mate 👍👍
Hi, just a question. Is it possible to hook up a pd150 with a dsg6.
Alright mate great work I done a bls to bkd and brake lights stuck on and fule pump problems and idea the bkd was out of a audi a3
Hi bud did you used the touran fuse box?? I did at first and my brake lights where stuck on. I ended up using the caddy fuse box and wiring the glow plug relay into that
I used the audi fuse box, have you got snap chat r23eky bit easier to chat
I'll change it back to the caddy fuse box and see for wiring the glow plugs up do u just remind the same colours
@@R23EKY. yes.. the main massive t40 plug that’s underneath the fuse box the one that comes from the van that’s where you need to swap the wires, you unpin them from the smaller plug T26 and they replace into the bigger plug T40 Then you do away with the 2nd T26 plug all together.
Mine is the same spec as yours (a/c, electric windows, heated mirrors, fog lights from factory) I also still have the doner touran incase I need anymore wiring/plugs
Any help would be great! Thanks 👍🏼
@@YTDTETV Thanks for the explanation mate.
I’m half way through this exact swap on my van, the three wires that you said went back into the van
Y/B fuel pump
Brown- earth
B/R don’t know
Did you cut the Y/B into the original van loom?
The van I'm doing had a cayc 1.6 engine,
the bkd maf sensor has four wires three go to the ECU plug but one goes to the original fuse box (12v feed afaik) (black/brown) there is also a red wire with a black tracer that runs from the glow relay up to the blue plug behind the bulkhead panel.
Hi bud, great work. Just a question, does the side shafts from the caddy fit straight on or did you use the doner vehicles? Thanks
I used the touran drive shafts 👍
🤙🏼Thank you for responding
Hu. Just a question. Is it possible to hook up a ALR PD150 with a dsg6?. I have a pd105 BLS with dsg.
Hi
Doing an arl swap with the 6 sperd gearbox, what drive shatfs do u use?
Hi bud I used everything from a touran 👍
Won’t sell the touran front bumper off the silver Ono 😂 great videos mate
Haha nope that front bumper was held on with wood screws and cable ties I wasn’t taking any care while removing either 👍👍 thanks for comment 😊
@@YTDTETV no worries mate, keep up the good content 😁
Hi mate, quick question if you don’t mind. I’ve got a 1.9 BLS Caddy and I’m looking to put in the BMN engine from a Mk5 Golf GT TDI. The Mk5 GT TDI came with 2 engines as you probably know - the BKD (140bhp) and the BMN (170 bhp). Will it be a similar job do you reckon?
Cheers👍🏼
Hey bud so sorry for the delay, I know the engines and I believe it will be the same swap to the 170 👍
Well done mate, you have patience and perseverance that most people don’t.
Fancy doing a engine swap on my sdi caddy
Hey bud I don’t have any spare time at the moment but appreciate the offer 👍
When you swapped the engine and clocks and ecu was there any coding for your keys?
Hi bud I fitted clocks, ecu and the small chip out of the touran key (fitted into caddy key) and it fired straight up no coding at all, I also fitted the cruise control stalks and that worked straight away to 👍
@@YTDTETV Oh that’s good thanks for that. Can’t wait get myself a touran now haha
No problem mate I will keep my eye out for your wiring loom diagram
@@YTDTETV hi mate do u have the wiring diagram mate and where abouts are u I'm in Mansfield
If you were using engine hoist can you remove full engine with gearbox or do u need to remove gearbox separately?
Hi Fraser, I don’t know if there’s enough room to pull it out the top complete, it might happen if you pull the front end off 👍
Hey bud, going to be converting my caddy soon, in two minds to use my pd150 arl from my golf or buy a touran and use the bkd.
@@YTDTETV thanks bud 👌 top man!
Hi I'm currently doing cayc to bkd conversion on audi a3 what is there to look out for on the wiring side
Hi bud oh mate that will be the best thing you ever did getting rid of that 1.6, I’m a massive fan of the BKD. I havnt done it myself but I’m confident it will be very similar to my swap, it might even be easier regarding wiring but I’m not sure 👍 all the best.
What did you do with the alternator bracket? As I’ve seen a lot about the powersteering pump ac pump and alternator don’t fit the Bkd
Hi bud my caddy had electric steering to start with so didn’t have to do that. I believe it’s easy to fit the electric steering rack.
Mate I wish I had your experience and knowledge when it comes to this…. I have however got 20 years experience carp angling if you ever wanna know anything haha 🤙🏻
Thanks mate 👍👍 haha I need some Fishing experience for sure, are you on our other channel OUTDOORDTE video of our latest trip will be up on there in a few days.
@@YTDTETV when I take out my shitty CAYZ out I’ll give you a shout and repay you with angling knowledge haha 👍🏼
@@MrSnypz1 oh mate that’s a common rail isn’t it? I see so many broke ones on the Facebook forums, injectors etc. it’s either PD130-PD150 or the BKD PD140 for me. All great engines but the BKD is more refined. Drop a comment if I can help 👍
@@YTDTETV it is mate yea, luckily it’s got the newer injectors in it so they shouldn’t be a problem, and it’s only got 50k on it so the sooner I get a pd150 in it the better haha.
@@MrSnypz1 good miles 👍 you’ll get a few quid back for your engine might even pay for the complete swap. Is it 5 or 5 speed? I’m not a fan of the 5 speed. Wiring looms on the newer ones are very similar to my early one to so it’s a very similar process. Engine will bolt straight in the just a few evenings playing with wiring.
Can i do this swap to a 2.0 sdi
I've just done a touran engine conversion having problems with the abs coding I've coded it for a touran and repinned the link wire but still says incorrect coding, code I have is 0017089, was it just straight forward for you?
Hi bud once I swapped the link wire mine didn’t need coding the abs light went straight out.
Is the golf for sale now?
Hi bud yes the golf is for sale now I’ll put a video up in a few days about it 👍👍

How much would you charge to do something like this for me?
Hi bud so I don’t really have spare time to take extra work on at the moment, the videos take a lot of my time and I have a lot of projects to get through 😩
Yes mate can u do me a engine swap on my 2007 caddy in no rush mate

real nice van dobo what a job still the man im out

I have a 2010 caddy SDI BST engine code, I have just taken the BKD engine out of my MK5 golf and installed it in the caddy, my question is is the wiring you show going to be the same to change in mine?
Any help would be appreciated as I’m stuck on the wiring 😢
Keep up the awesome content 👍🏻 and thank you.
Hey bud so sorry for the delay, so I’ve been told the engine loom fits in the SDI bay easily someone even said their loom plugged straight in? How you getting on?
Getting there mate all other wiring done I’m just stuck on the earth wires from the glow plug module ( did you pin these into the 94 pin ecu plug? The three large earth wires and the red and green from the glow plug module I believe is the starter motor relay) any help would be greatly appreciated

Bkd engine is the best one for me they have a Garrett turbo some times you get a turbo, overboost problem but nothing a terra clean and Mityvac can’t sort out
Hey mark I absolutely love them I have 3 vehicles with them in and if I had more time I’d put one in every vehicle I own. They do sometimes throw up overboost. Thank you for the comment 👍
@@YTDTETV I no what you mean bud for me Volkswagens just keep driving, even if they have their problems I have not long, got rid of my seat altea XL which had the 2.0 tdi BKD engine 140 bhp with the Garrett turbo I can honestly say it never missed a beat I only ever had one problem a turbo overboost problem
but I took it for a terror, clean and Mityvac and it was perfect and to be honest that was in the very beginning of geting the car i’m a very strong believer in only using shell or bp fuel all the supermarket fuel is watered down with other chemicals. My mates dad told me years ago because he worked for a company that did it all. so I tend to find the cheaper fuels will block up the EGR valves, inlet manifold veins on the turbo. not long recently had a third child so had to get rid of the car. I’m now driving a Ford S max my god what complete piece of shit 🤣🍆💦 I sad to the mrs I can’t do this thus far is poo 💩 so I’m now on the look out for something with the BKD engine car or a van for myself to potter around in 👌👌👌
