I used to watch Anastasia all the time when I was younger. I actually wrote out the script wanting to but on my own version of it... I kept pausing the VHS, rewinding so I can hear what they were saying again, and write it down. And now there's an actual musical for it as well! This song is originally sung by Demitri so I've just some of the wordings to make sense for me.

Well how about that! Some really nice switch ups, a few great crescendos, and more belt than a leather shop! I don't know the original song but I sure like your treatment of it! Thank you for sharing your sparkling musical talent with us unwashed masses again, Jen!

Alas, no subharmonics but very enjoyable! I know I've said it before but I enjoy hearing you sing as much as some of the singers you've reacted to and your facial expressions show how much you enjoy what you do. Thanks for the gift you just gave us!

Great (Female Cover) of this song from Anastasia!! I really enjoyed your passion and delivery. Loved how you built up and built up the song to the very last long note in the outro. I really enjoy your singing. Your tone and clear enunciation of the song made it so enjoyable. Thanks for sharing your talent!!! :)

I grew up on the sly
In the gutters and the streets of Petersburg
Just a kid on the fly
Getting good at getting by in Petersburg
    I've bartered for a blanket
    Stolen for my bread
    Learned to take my chances
    And use my head
    A Russian rat is clever
Clever, or he ends up dead
    Boils down to
    There are some who survive
    Some who don't
Some give up, some give in
    Me, I won't
Black and blue, welcome to my Petersburg
    Standing here, you can see
From the spires to the piers of Petersburg
I'd be down on that quay
    Selling stolen souvenirs of Petersburg
The Palace is above and alleyways below
Funny when a city is all you know
How even when you hate it
Something in you loves it so
That's where I learned my stuff
    In some rough company
    There's the boy growing up
    Who was me
All I've been, all I'll be
We can do what we're told
We can go where we're lead
But I learned from my father to see what's ahead
    Nothing here to hold me
    No one that I owe
Funny how a boy can grow
Funny how a city tells you when it's time to go
    Boils down to
There are some who have walls yet to climb
You and I on the fly, just in time
    But tonight there's a sky
    And quite a view
    Welcome to my Petersburg

I love how tasteful your mixing and post-production are. It still sounds natural without sounding raw or unpolished. This what you get when you add a beautiful tone to great (as I have learned from this channel) technique.
    Beautiful.

Wow Jen, another incredibly wonderful performance! Lady you've got skills! That was really great! Through you through this channel I'm starting to acquire a taste for this style of music, which surprises me since I've never taken much interest in musical theater. But that is changing and as The Book Of Mormon is coming to theater in Sacramento (California) I just might have to go see if it's something I might enjoy. Thank you for this.

Man,you do have a range don't you! That Vibrato at the end was a lovely finishing touch. For some reason, while you were singing, the name Barbara Streisland entered my mind. BTW, if you would ever get around to doing a cover of "Send in the Clowns" from "A little Night Music" by Sondheim I'll bet you 'd be great! Sondheim wrote it specifically for Glynis Johns, and the only version, outside of the original, that I've ever enjoyed is Barbara's Streisland's.

Wow! That was amazing, Jen! 👏👏 As others said, it is obvious how much fun you had during the recording.
To stay in Musical Theater territory, you might enjoy "Talk Of The Town" (ruclips.net/video/miotXaqJ-Cs/видео.html) from the Ayreon album Transitus.
