yea i cant find a way to program offset anywhere in the software, which is ridiculous and makes the software basically useless. im going to have todo it all by hand
Select the “DEC” and “ENC” options. DEC is decode.. it has options in the scroll down for dcs and ctcss in the drop down. ENC is the same but for transmit
I just got my H8 and loaded the ODMASTER. I ran into a problem, the channel 55 won't allow me to enter a TX frequency. The computer app showed a circle in the cursor with I go to highlight the TX frequency. I reconfirmed the TX frequency is a GMRS frequency. Any ideas
Some GMRS radios limit do it yourself channels to channels 31 to 54. If the first 54 can accept transmitter channels, that's likely the issue. The manual says there are 154 rx only channels and 11 WX channels. With the 30 basic GMRS channels, that about fills up 200 channels. Good luck. Cheers.
@GadgetTalk4U I guess it would have been good to let customers know that 200 channels is limited to configuring repeater channels to those. OH well, Amazon has good return policies. Thanks
I did a video about a year ago on the Gadget Talk channel about using the CPS to program a GMRS radio. It covers this issue and how different vendors deal with it. Unless you travel a lot, that number of GMRS repeater channels should be plenty. Cheers.
@GadgetTalk4U You're right and I guess I was just disappointed with just being able to put all my travel freq's into the radio, but there is always a work around. With the Bluetooth app, I am going to breakdown areas of my travels so I can just sync my areas when needed with the HT. But please let me know of an HT that might work better. Thanks again.
Hello, on my TIDRADIO H8 version 230923 I have a 1-10 scale at the top. Unfortunately this graph is not showing me anything..... which version should I use please...? Thanks.
I have a TD-H8 GMRS radio and when using the ODMaster program with bluetooth setting up a local repeater (example: 462.67500 with tx set to 467.67500) and save the configuration it automatically changes the tx frequency back to math the rx frequency... any suggestions?
I tried that, too and think the issue is that once you've set the receive frequency to the proper repeater channel, close your phones keyboard and use the dropdown box in the transmit line to select the corresponding transmit frequency in the 467 megahertz range. This works for simplex channels too if you want one with a particular CTCSS or DSC code. FCC rules don't allow user inputs of transmit frequencies in GMRS radios, so this drop down limits transmit frequencies to GMRS frequencies only. Cheers.
@@GadgetTalk4U When I place the radio in VFO mode before downloading to the app it leaves it in the RX frequency but I found that it does set the channel offset to +5.000. Thanks for checking into it.
Thank you for the video. I’ve been pulling my hair off for months .. I’m using my Bluetooth to programming the radio. I see the repeaters I Saved them but I don’t know how to use them. I did what you did on the video. Step-by-step I save it on the channel 31, but now the question is where I can transmit the question is I had to do it on channel 31 or I have to go to the original channel frequency to do my PTT and get to talk to people I’ve been doing it all alone in my radio doesn’t do nothing. It’s completely quiet. I don’t hear people. I don’t hear nothing and I’ve been playing with the setting many times even I bought a chart to make it right nothing yet changing the offset and the others. Nothing yet so please if you have the knowledge to help me out and a humble way. I’m asking you please help me. Thank you.
If you programmed a repeater intimate channel 31, you'd tune to channel 31 to access that repeater. Put a second repeater on channel 32 and do likewise. If things are really quiet in your area, get a second inexpensive GMRS radio so you can test between the two of them. Remember the repeaters you choose need to be fairly close and within the radio's line of sight. Check out my video entitled Why GMRS sucks-or doesn't for some insights. Cheers
Not sure. Normally, brands have different database structures so the data is not interoperable. I've seen some conversion conversations but not sure how it works. You may have to have both displays open and do some cut and paste cell by cell. Comment when you figure it out. Good Luck.
MY wife bought this radio to use a scanner, for police emergency etc. will this radio do this? I have zero experience and feel clueless about this radio. Came in a 2 pack. thank you.
Look up your emergency service's frequencies online. There are a couple of sites with that info. Use those frequencies. The problem is many departments use digital techniques or what are called trunked systems. You'll need a dedicated scanner for those. Some departments still use analog FM signals, but fewer and fewer.
Your tutorial is great! until I get to the OD web app. I have a TD H8(unlocked) and can't figure out how to make it talk to the radio. I have the app,but I have no cables - just bluetooth
I see a couple of things have changed on the OD master web display. At the bottom of the display if you open a configuration file, it now has import and export buttons for a .csv file and Bluetooth read and write. There is also a bluetooth connect at the top of the page. I think this will require a bluetooth transmitter in your computer. You can also import the .csv to Chirp. You are limited if you don't have a programming cable though. What I'd recommend is using the web page to type in all your channels and then save them. Use the OD master app on the phone to transfer the data to your radio. You'll need an OD Master account to sync the smartphone app to the web page, though. Cheers.
The mic gain is in the app. You have to click on the function tab and scroll down to the bottom of the page. It's like the third or fourth item up from the bottom of the page. It comes factory set at 15.

Thanks! Was about to return and now it's good to go.

Glad it helped!

The graph is a signal strength indicator. It should have a line when you transmit and when you receive giving you an indication of signal strength.

Will odmaster ever do gmrs channels,?
1 try to set the frequency 155.500 and saved it ti memory. whenh i try to key the mike, it says cancel. i dont get it.
That is not an authorized GMRS channel. You can listen, but not transmit.
I need to up load to my Tidradio h8 from my UV-5R on chirp but the upload is grayed out Can you upload from a Baofang to a tidradio

So, the repeater list in the app is only for HAM?
The source for the list includes ham predominantly. The radio first came out as a ham radio. So... sadly, yes. Keep in mind GMRS is a US only service.

Yes. Check walkietalkiesoftware.com or contact them for a link.

Some people need their hand held for everything. Video was great, but I have common sense so it wasn't an issue.
