Fasting weakens the body, but makes a man's spirit steel. When the spirit is strong and steadfast, we are capable of anything. I'm a Bulgarian Orthodox Christian and I hope people will think about the words of this Orthodox brother of ours. 🇧🇬☦︎

According to the Orthodox calendar, there are several fasts during the year. For example, the one we're in right now is called "Lent" before Easter. This fast is the longest and most important of the year and lasts about 40 days(From February 27 to April 16). I have personally fasted and I can say that a person loses a lot of weight physically, but develops spiritually. After this fast, if you start working out or keeping your body healthy, you really get stronger, but it takes time and dedication.I recommend you try it, it really helps.
I experienced it last night. Went all day without food and then prayed for about an hour. It was the best prayer session I've ever had.

@Alexander not everything is about immediate salvation. the protestant view that all we need to do is get saved is insufficient. we have a lifetime of spiritual warfare ahead of us, temptations, doubts, sin. salvation is for after our lives are already over, when we are with the Lord in paradise. but how will you gain dominion over your demons if you do not actively fight them? i am not saying fasting or rituals alone save you, but there is a reason people do them. they work, and they improve your mind, body, and spirit. we can't all just sit around watching tv, eating fast food and going to parties and getting drunk with women all day. fasting focuses us on God and on our struggle with the unseen

I was once Protestant as well. 18 years ago I discovered the truth of Orthodoxy, and found it to be the complete fulfillment of the Gospel that I had learned as a Protestant. I very quickly saw that the Orthodox Church is the Fulness of Christianity, and was received into the Church. Praying that that God is opening a window for you to take a glimpse into His Church, and receive His Fulness.

Orthodox allows condoms (except the Russians), the Russians are in schism with Antioch over Ukraine, and Kirill the Patriarch of Moscow supports the invasion of Ukraine despite ending lives unnecessarily (this could be coerced but it is still cowardly). Oh and by the Office of Saint Peter I mean the Pope, but I don’t expect you to agree.
I was born into a non religious family that was originally orthodox. But my parents just didn't like religion. I discovered it for myself in my early teens. I was a follower. I loved orthodoxy. But I stopped. I didn't have that love anymore. I didn't have that devotion and that thrive. But with these videos the sparks I have left in my soul ignite once again. I question this life a lot. I question myself as a mere Human a lot. And the whole concept of life and god. But it feels wrong to not believe in anything. I feel secure believing in something. To have something I can hold onto when times are tough. And I truly believe orthodoxy is the right path if there really is a right path.

He blesses these people with inner locutions, Visions, all kinds of blessings. The Bible came from the church not vice versa. Icons bring to the heart the spiritual realities. The written word is nothing more than a coded icon.

Translating from one language to another isn't easy.
Specifically when contents and contexts of great importance to be translated without removing or modifying meaning of sentence.
Specific phrases are hard to translate without loosing true essence of meaning.
I can honestly say this is only translation i have found of Father Raphael sermon.

@Slavic Life As an orthodox myself, I must say that I have few Muslim friends that I trust. Yes, the Quran says that, but every human has the capability to decide for themselves.
No matter what some verses say, the human heart and desire is to have peace and friendship.
Just as there are Muslims that I would not trust, there are also so called Christians that I don’t trust.
As a true believer I am commanded to love everyone, even my enemy, In doing so I hope that he or she will see the truth, and when a non Christian sees the truth and follows Christ, then the angels rejoice and heaven is filled with joy.

ITS almost the second week of my First fasting and im going Till 7th january ❤️
I was able to fast for 5 days at the beginning of this month and my liver chose to dump the rest of the bile out. I had to start eating again because I was getting my fatty liver pain back. I'm going to look at fasting some more in the future and longer.

Started fasting Mon, Wed, Fri in early 2020. Will never stop, best decision for body, mind, soul.
