Are Breathable or Neoprene Waders Best? High 'N Dry Comparison

- Both neoprene and breathable chest waders can be the best waders for waterfowl hunting. It all depends on how, when, and where you hunt. I used and reviewed both the High 'N Dry breathable waders and their neoprene waders to compare both types of waders of the same quality. And both are durable, comfortable, long lasting commercial grade waders with very comfortable and warm thinsulate insulated boots. This testing helped me narrow down when each type of wader is best instead of comparing a good set of breathables to a cheap set of neoprene waders. Both are excellent for duck hunting and goose hunting.

• If you hunt the early season or are in a mild climate, the breathable industrial grade waders are ideal.
• For cold weather when you need to break ice, and go on late season hunts, the neoprene waders are a better fit.
• If you put waders in an easy to carry backpack and go jump hunting, then breathable waders are best.
• If you are hunting thick, dense stuff that puts a lot of wear on your gear, you want neoprene because they are thicker and more durable.
• If you get cold easy, neoprene will help keep you warmer.
• If you are prone to being warm all the time, breathables are a better option.
• If you often run out of energy, the breathable waders are lighter.
• If you cover alot of ground in waders, on land or in the stream, breathables are easier to move in.
• If you stand or sit for long periods of time in cold water, neoprene is better.
High N' Dry provided the breathable waders I discussed in video at my request, thanks to them for their support. I bought the neoprene waders with my own money.

Breathable waders we’re a god sent here in Florida when they came out. Although I have the Frogg Togg zip out insulation which I’ve never used because I can layer and still be warm. My next pair will be the new front zip High and Dry when I need new waders. Great video sir. 👍🏻👍🏻🍺🍺
Thanks so much! Yea those are perfect for where you are!
The old saying, you get what you pay for, is true more times than not. God bless you George and go get them in the marsh!
Thank you so much Jeff!
Great video. I have had the breathable for the last three years and I'm happy with it. I had a sharp stick puncture the boot. so I called the company (Ian) and he was very helpful and provided me with solutions on how to fix the leak. I visited their warehouse in VA a few years ago and can tell you that they stand behind their products.
Thanks so much! Yea, I am so glad I found them. I don't know what my plan B waders would have been.
For my first pair of waders I bought breathable and tried using them in the winter. Immediately I knew I messed up and switched to neoprene, which is what I use for most of my hunts. I kept those breathable ones and use them for warm early season hunts.
Right on!
I'm so glad I was referred to high n dry from a customer whose lake I was stocking. My problem was store stocked waders were never perfectly my size (hard to find for bigger guys) and at a time, I gained a little too much girth for my Cabela neoprenes. Besides, I'd be dead by the time the fishing trip was over. Just getting into those things was enough to need a nap (yep I was "that guy" that has waders half on in his underwear with his buddies yanking up on the shoulder straps behind him to get the damn things up lol). Juat got my breathable high n dry's yesterday and my world changed... not only did the test fit work beautifully, but I was even able to keep my jeans on underneath! (Although when going out, I'd pick something more flexible than jeans 😂).
Excellent news! They fit me great too. I still use the breathables all the time. They are so nice!
Great info, thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Been on the same pair of neoprene Tidewe waters for 3 years now. Definitely got my value out of them. Know several others that have gone over 3 years no issues.
Impressive. 3 years is a great stretch for waders.
George, very nice job. Thank you, great information
Thanks so much Dennis!
High N Dry breathables are on the list of things to get before next season
I haven't found a better pair yet, and I've done lots of looking!
Thank you very much, for such a detailed explanation.
You are so welcome, thank you!
thank nice job
Thank you!
If you ATV/UTV trail ride in weather 45 degrees and higher?
I wouldn't ride with my waders on. I feel like that is asking to get them chewed up but brush and branches. I'd rather let cheaper clothes take the beating.
@TheNewHuntersGuide they come in handy if you're having fun in the ol' mud bog lol. I got stuck once in this thigh deep puddle (it was a 2wd sport quad) and had to walk out... lesson learned 😂😂😂
Are there any off season considerations for extending the life of the waders like storage etc?
They said to hose the waders off before putting them away, I assume to get any mud or minerals off that might discolor or weaken the materials over time. Then store them hanging from the boots using a wader hanger or boot rack. Then keep them from extreme heat, cold, or moisture. I hang them in my basement which has a dehumidifier, and they seem to do great.
@@TheNewHuntersGuide awesome thanks for the info!
@@Firefighter_303 Sure thing!
