When I was a kid growing up, this was THE hatchet you had to have for camping ad hunting. I'm glad to see they are still around!

Great Hatchets. I inherited mine from my Father. It has processed a lot of smaller wood at out Camps as well as processed a lot of Game over the Years. We did change it a bit of course. We wrapped the Shank below the Head with some Hockey Tape to make it easier to hold and we reprofiled the edge.

Great looking hatchet. Would look great on the side of my pack. Love the handle. From what I have heard their failure rate is pretty small. Fun video.

My gf found one at the thrift store a few months back I can't tell you how cool that was she did that. It's not the classic like yours but still super nice. Now you make me want to go to the back yard and test it out. Great review!

Mine was passed down to me when my father died. It is now more than 50 years old and still completely usable. The stacked leather grip loosened a bit over the decades so I've recently overwrapped it with tennis racket grip tape. You really don't find many products that last like this little hatchet. I have fond childhood memories associated with it. I'll pass it on to my son as my dad did for me.

My favorite camping and survival hatchet is the very similar Ochsenkopf OX 270 made in Solingen, Germany.
The handle is made of (100% waterproof) rubber instrad of leather layers and it has no nail-puller, but exept this it it looks pretty much the same.
Very tough axe! You can strike it in an 8" dia. 16" long oakwood log, flip it all over and hammer it upside down (axe-back ahead) on the "anvil-log" to split the firewood.
An absolute reliable companion, 100% recommended!

Estwing hatchets and hammers are one of the best. The leather grip feels good but my 22oz framing hammer is rubber. Nice to find stuff you forgot about huh ? Pretty nice being sharp enough to cut curls, and not bad on the crosscut.

Say Heah my Friend, I believe it's (E S T W I N G) and not E A S T - W I N G. Anyhow, I also got a Nylon Sheath for mine because it fits my belts better. Infact I have (2) of them, one with the Leather Sheath. Infact that one I had for a while and the sheath is leather and American made. I agree with you, It's a awesome Hatchet. I also just made another Afternoon Delight Trio, I included my Spyderco Puukku, and my EZ KUT WOW Folding Saw. With this Trio, I can get by with my makeshift Haversack, Oh, my Flexcut Carving Jack and my Gerber Multi Tool. Dilly Dilly.,,.p
