Bob was smart, he brought a pistol with him while camping in a remote area. Be like Bob.
Always cary one on me when in dangerous places, urban exploration and woods, anywhere with potential for dangerous people

The strangest thing wasn't that the girl didn't steal anything at the campsite. The strangest thing was that the couple was able to sleep again.
No way I could have fallen asleep plus my campfire would have been seen from space.
@@SMaamri78 Lol, yes, i think that building a big camp fire would have been my response too. Build one like those Australian Aborigines did on that 1980's movie, "The Right Stuff".
@Randy Orton Lorraina Bobbit!!
Up all night with the shotgun at the ready
I too am amazed by them being able to fall back asleep, but also night time exhaustion while camping is pretty powerful
Bob sounds like the most sensible person in any one of these camping stories.
Yes! Finally someone who has the good sense to bring some protection with them when they go out in the middle of nowhere!
Absolutely agree!
He definitely got the gift..!💯
Other than the fact that he seemed to be completely oblivious to the existence of bears. *Sees tents with claw marks through them and campsite ransacked* "WHAT COULD THIS POSSIBLY BE????"

I always wonder if these strange creepy people wandering through the woods are the ones who disappeared in another story..
Oh wow ... Good logic
I was actually thinking the same thing when I was listening to all these stories and came to this one. Like what if these are people gone missing and just have lost their minds?
Watching this i wondered if that torn abandoned tent was from another story that starts the same but from their point of view.
You are right. Haven't thought about that
That’s exactly what I was thinking with the first story in this video.
When he said the woman was acting feral, it reminded me of another story MrBallen told of a lady that camped with her friends and suddenly went feral in the middle of the night and never to be seen again
"So Bob draws his pistol" finally someone who actually belongs in the woods!
For real!!!
Day hike on heavily traveled trail no weapon or protection except for animals necessary. Overnight camping off the beaten path, definitely need protection and be prepared to use it.
Yeah it's good to be armed but there are large animals that unless you land that kill shot your just gonna piss it off. Shotgun with a slug is a better choice actually a homemade shrapnel round is better.
Or an arrow, sounds better lol

Also Bob: "Guess I'll just run a trip-wire around the entirety of the camp"
And stay up all night guarding his family in the truck instead of driving said truck to safety.
Right wtf Bob lol just pack! I figured he wanted to stay or something

How people can sleep after someone being sketchy around my tent blows my mind
ikr
I guess u can
Could not agree more. I don’t know where Mr. Ballen gets these people but they all tend to “ blow away” their first instinct and always end up in the worst situations.
How people are stupid enough to not have someone stay awake and guard also just blows my mind. Like how stupid are you.
I know like unless you hadn’t slept in like 48 hours straight and were just DEEEAD TIRED, exhausted, then passed out literally almost. There would be no way on EARTH I would be able to even think about sleep, but I’m a super light sleeper too lol

Bob, the most sane person ever to go into the woods. He gave it one chance...two chance to make sure he wasn't imaging things but by the third time he was like "say hello to my little friend." So many times people don't want to believe they aren't in any danger when strange things are happening, so they keep convincing themselves its nothing or it will go away. I'm a Bob!
Congrats
Me 2 !!
Actually Bob was a little you know what and sat carrying while his family sat in a rig terrified the entire night because he was too stupid to leave

Hi I'm Bob
That second story gotta be the creepiest because although Bob was ready for anything, he still couldn’t figure out what he would be dealing with. A flattened propane tank?! I don’t want to imagine 😰

@@GiornoAnzthat bear would have to be fuckin JACKED. Flattened from the top youd think that would cut open a bears paws.
@noahfink2708 you may be right idk. Bears are insanely strong, but still propane tanks are also strong. I'm just not certain it's paranormal/cryptid stuff in this case specifically

Great stories! It drives me nuts why people don't take turns standing guard while the other sleeps. Also, they're out there for 2 hours in the middle of the night, why not spend time bringing their valuables into their tent? ?
Lmao I know right
I thought that. Take everything inside.
The house i grew up in had bobcats in the woods. Every you once in a while it sounded like a woman was being killed by an axe-murderer, like it makes your hair stand on end. Even if you know full well that its a bobcat, your nervous system still stands your hair on end, because the scream burrows itself deep into your bones. We never got used to it.
Panthers are the same way. I vividly remember being outside my childhood home which is deep in the woods/swamp in southern GA on a full moon and hearing a panther. It makes your blood run cold, literally sounds like a woman screaming in terror. The only way you can tell the difference is if you've lived around it and/or the cadence in the sound.
No bobcats near where I live. I was staying on a farm once and thought I heard a woman screaming. After a while of hearing this woman screaming I felt like I had to at least see if I could spy what was causing this because if its a woman in distress I can run and get help. It turned out to be a cow with a seriously weird moo, which was being further warped by the topography of the land. 🙄
Yes, I have been in the swamp at night the first I heard a panther scream. It's enough to make you believe in monsters.

Why does it seem like half of his stories have to take place in Oregon, where I live? I often go offroading, hiking, and camping alone in the deep forest. I grew up learning these things and am very safe and cautious when alone. IMO nobody should go out into that kind of an environment without weapons for self defense. A gun if you can, a good knife at least if you can't get a gun or don't want to, but I really do recommend it for practicality alone, morals and politics aside.
Also, doesn't hurt to familiarize yourself with the sounds of animals common to your area, you'd be surprised the creepy sounds some of them make. Bobcats especially sound eerily like some kind of ghostly woman wailing in the woods. It's incredibly unsettling, even when you know exactly what it is. Their vocalizations sound quite human.
Right? It seems as if there’s a ton of people in our state that are lining up for Darwin Awards.
Most of these folk I think are city types who couldn't change a tire, afraid of weaponry, and their idea of roughing it is to go camping... In a giant motorhome with all the amenities of home.
I grew up camping with my father and mother in the deserts and mountains as a child.
My dad taught me how to deal with all manner of adversion in the outdoors and the surest medicine for dealing with weirdos, ferals etc is a proper broomstick (my fav being a K98K Mauser or Mosin Nagant M44 cos cutting 8" off the barrel makes moar flash and louder BOOM)
I Just Said That!! Why always Oregon? I've also learned lately that we've had our share of serial killers.. I've spent so much time in the woods.. I live on the West side of the Cascades, so lot's of green and big tree's, beautiful clear river's n creek's, and horseback riding, camping, fishing and mushroom picking, the kind you cook with are just a few things I use to do.. I know a lot of these sound's, that people say are wendigos, are bobcat's.. They have a very eerie and alarming sound, especially during mating season.. Anyway, great stories as always.. 🤗
Panthers also sound like a screaming woman being strangled and horribly murdered.
Excellent idea to be familiar with common animals sounds, screeches.
I'm a city girl but I do know that foxes also high-pitch 'scream' while mating, rabbits 'scream' when caught as prey so it's very often a logical explanation even though it sounds alarming.
To be fair, while attempting to sleep in a pup tent in a wooded area, even the insects all around sounded like bears moving furniture in the night.
Story №1 was such a good story! 👍🏽An Elder Native American woman with a bobcat for her pet; they live together, they also communicate, scream/cry alike, and also prefer the same tree to sit in, and the same branch!
You’re so gullible if you haven’t figured out these stories are fake.
@BARBARYAN. Real or fake, I only said it was a _good story._
@@BARBARYAN. Bobcats actually scream like people, particularly in heat. It's very odd
"Monkey-like" is actually the perfect description for how she searched through that bag. I dated a girl in high school whose family literally had a capuchin monkey for a pet...if we are being honest, that monkey is why I stayed with her longer than I definitely should have. Every time I came over, I'd get the monkey out of the cage and he would automatically start going through my pockets, looking at everything for a split second and throw it over his shoulder...it was great comedy. Basically I just wanted to tell you about that monkey🤷 sorry for wasting ur time lol.
I loved it thank you! I once dated a guy longer than I would have because his mom was raising an orphan baby raccoon! He was sooo sweet I loved him!

Bob and his family are one of the few smart ones in all of the stories I've heard. He brought a gun, just in case, and when things started to get wierd they got the hell out of there
Come to Utah. Lots of guns while camping
@Gem Rose there’s not a chance in hell that I would go camping, hiking, etc without a gun! Hell, I take one to the store with me....but I’m also in northern Idaho!
Anyone else notice that is that picture he’s next to there’s slender man lol 😆
I was just about to comment asking if anybody else noticed like 95% of these stories could be fixed with a gun.
Reminds me.of the movie Predator, the original. The special forces team before Dutch also had booby traps and trip wires
The second story, I've camped those woods! Had a very similar experience! It's like the wall between the Here and the There is really thin there. Like theres people who are there who aren't there at the same time. And they're aware of us just like we are aware of them. Its weird.
I grew up in a house completely surrounded by thick forest. We had neighbors, but you couldn't see or hear them. People used to come up to our windows and peer in. Only the bedrooms had curtains. They scared me so much I used to pretend I was stone until the noises went away. Years later I discovered it was the neighbors. They must have thought it was funny as hell. Not. They got some payback when they broke into a house and went through the daughter's underwear. Her mother had them arrested.
Plot twist: Old woman looks at them and says "Do you know how to get to Bells Canyon" and then runs off.

Haha basically
Yes, I don't get it. He had time to make a trip wire alarm but didn't want to originally leave because it'd be a whole ordeal?! When scary sh## happens, I'm out.
The brain has a tendency to convince itself that everything is fine, it takes quite a lot for the brain to be convinced it's in danger and even more to get the nerve to escape and leave.
Often times, this tendency kills people. It's unfortunate, but most people won't run just because something slightly odd happens, that's too extreme of a reaction for something so inconsequential that most people will simply stay put. Weird how the brain works!
I would of left I don't care if it was night I would leave I just don't get why they would stay.

Today, I was cleaning a large freezer-chest that suddenly stopped working. (Unfortunately though, my sister and I didn't notice; until it started to smell like death and decomposition. You can imagine the state of it.)
I'm home alone. I'm 4ft 11", so it's hard to reach the bottom to scoop up the bacteria-filled water.
I propped the lid open with a piece of wood. It broke. Termites, it seems. It nearly bonked me while I was bent over the front of the freezer-chest, head down. But, I reacted quickly when I heard the wood crunch, so I pulled away in time to avoid injury.
My first thought was: "I almost became content, again. Lol." 😅
(The first time I almost became content my puppy got lost in what equates to a rain forest behind my house. I heard him crying and so, at like 1 or 2 am, I sprinted into the bush to find him. He is fine. He is mostly an inside dog now.)

Bob has excellent instincts. For once a story about a person who actually has a survival instinct! Some people don’t seem to have one these days.
This doesn't surprise me. Domesticated humans. So many of us have lived in "civilized society" for so long a lot of our primal instincts have definitely lessened to the point that they are complacent. It is pretty much similar to looking at a domesticated dog or cat. Since their domesticated lifestyles have existed for such a short time span compared to us, they have retained a great deal of their feral instincts. The amount retained, of course varies, as dogs and cats are just as individual as humans.
Sadly there are humans who take in animals, but when in a situation where they can no longer care for said animal or do not even care at all for said animal... they will simply drop the domesticated animal off in the wild, believing their survival instincts will kick in and they will be able to fend for themselves just fine. Some of these animals do and some of these animals do not.
You can tell it comes from a real outdoorsman and not a Reddit "True" story because of that.
Bob sucks, he should keep his pets on a leash, for the dogs safety and for strangers and wildlife safety.
@@nyxitylee2094 that is disgusting when people do that. If you wouldn't do that to your child you don't do it to a pet .

I’m born and raised and still live in Maine and I live in the mountains so there’s a lot of dense forest around me and I always get scared that someone or something is watching me and my dog even gets scared sometimes
I once got to be the freaky person in the woods. I was in high school and went to a private school where the history teacher was super into civil war history. She took a bunch of us on a trip to the middle of nowhere and we had our own camp reenactment for a long weekend. We all wore impressive replica uniforms, carried long guns, built a log gate around our camp, and marched in formation. It was a lot of fun.
Halfway through our trip, our teacher was expecting some of her friends who would be playing the part of the confederates (yes, all students were union, because of course). Some folks came walking up our trail, so my teacher decides to impress the by having us march to the gate to meet them.
Except, these weren't her friends. They were a couple of random hikers who stumbled upon us by accident. They saw this group of old time uniformed and armed "soldiers" coming to them and these poor people turned on their heels and bolted. We never saw them again, and assumed from then on, we would be their terrifying encounter.
Lol they probably thought you freaks were ghosts 👻
That's actually amazing.
such a cute story.
I was doing field work in a woodland some years ago and was happily bimbling along carrying a ladder (the field work involved checking nest boxes so we need ladders to access these boxes and check on nests) when I suddenly realised I had walked out into a bit of clearing and there were all these people sitting around, dressed in medieval-type costumes. There was a camera and they seemed to be filming. I was so surprised and felt so self-conscious that I just walked right through the middle of the group with my head down. None of us spoke. It was awkward! I don't know why I didn't just say something like "Oh! Hi! Sorry to disturb you, don't mind me". But nope, I chose awkward silence...and so did they 😅. I sometimes wonder if they got me on camera and had a laugh about it later. It was so strange! I guess they were strange to me and I was strange to them 😆.
This reminds me of the time when me and a bunch of buddies were out in the woods LARPing, and we were taking a break from filming some epic medieval battle scenes in this clearing. I shit you not, a fucking ghost just appears from the treeline, carrying a ladder and walked right through the middle of our group, just staring at the ground. We all shut up, waited for it to pass, then got the hell out of there…
A short while up the trail, as we’re trying to get back to where we left our vehicles, I shit you not, an entire platoon of Union Soldier ghosts from the Civil war began approaching us through the trees… We turned our dragon slaying asses around and got the hell outta there!!!
I still don’t LARP to this day..
A perimeter wire is always a good idea when camping off the beaten trail. The best material is thin, braided stainless-steel cable, repeated at different heights and distances from camp. Most animals will take off as soon as they hear anything associated with humans. If you hear the next wire in, chamber your weapon. The animal to be most wary of is the human stranger.
I love how you worded this.

My friends and I used to talk like Italian gangsters to make each other laugh and we ended up doing it so much that I noticed I couldn't read a book without the characters also sounding like Italian gangsters in my head lol. Italian Harry Potter is pretty ridiculous sounding.

I read that as "beer spray" and went "oh? there's such a thing? how would that work?" 😩
I completely agree with you. Having Bear Spray would’ve been ideal in a situation like this. In addition to that I would have my trusty Raging Hunter Taurus 44 Magnum. Not only is this revolver a massive long barrel cannon of a pistol that can take down a grizzly bear, it also looks mean as hell. That gun would scare the shit out of anyone including a deranged woman living like an animal in the forest.

thats not really the way to go about things, but if you noticed if you have a big group with you at all times nothing ever happens

Ok so I just wanted to bring this up because this reminded me of it.
When I was younger, around 10 years old, I went on residential with a bunch of girls in the countryside and we all knew it already looked sketchy from the messed up activities and broken fences but we just shrugged it off as Residential was something everyone waited for throughout the entire school year.
There wasn’t really anything off in the days apart from that but it was during the nights that really shook us up. So, I was on a bunk bed right by the window in a small room with 14 girls meaning I got to control the curtains and I also had control of the room. During the night when there were about 5 of us awake a knock on the window echoed through the room (bare in mind we’re on the second floor and there is nothing but beds in this large room) so we all huddle up in a ball on the furthest bed and the knocks happen about 5-10 more times causing us to scream and the teachers being called in to tell the 5 of us off. Later on, it’s just me and this other girl awake but we’re all in our own beds and she is half way across the room so all we can do is wave and make signs to each other when a bang comes from outside waking the girl below me up. And I understand this could have been one of the workers but it’s only teachers and students in the area as it’s around 1 in the morning. Later on a scream echoes through the outside and all three of us are huddled together again until morning but what was funny is that the girls from the other room telling us off for the screams and knocks. The three of us told the teachers and they said they’d sort it only for it to repeat the next night 😐🫤
That’s pretty scary!
Bob is the only person with any sense… Thank you Bob
Come for the stories, stay for the flannels.
Bruv, I thought I was the only one that found the flannels to be very impressive.
He must be going through a lumberjack phase.

I'm Canadian, I came for the flannel and stayed for the stories 😉
The fact that there was already a tripwire set there is the most powerful part of the story, more than the flattened propane tank
Fr, I wonder what would've happened to them if Bob never noticed and didn't stay up protecting his family
@JoshuaRamos What are u thinking? What would have flattened a propane tank?
Dogs will hear steps before any human.
Dogs would never ignore any animal or human.
And dogs are always act as a pack.
Also dogs don't have a good vision.
So the story makes no sense.
