The engineering on the rear legs is especially impressive.
The engineers really did put in so much work into making the dino-mode kibble fold up into the legs.
I love when they do that, or have little fold-out/fold-in panels to clean up robot mode for that animated look.

Absolutely love the leg/feet transformation! Amazing stuff Giga. Not super keen on the red chrome they used in bot mode, but I'm more of a flat for colors & chrome for metal, kinda look. Subbed! 🥸

For some of the Transformers, you need a masters in engineering to get all the moves down. I can only imagine what it took to design this.

This was a very articulate process. Sludge was always a favorite of mine because he was a fatboy like I was. A lot of movements and steps to the transformation. Many small delicate parts to be mindful of. Was there ever consideration of making the Dinobots into a combiner? During their initial inception and character development.
Outside the show, no. Inside the show, Wheeljack wanted to, but Optimus Prime never let him do it.
His reasons for that were because the combiners lacked intelligence, were too vicious and dangerous, and could be fooled to much by Megatron's scheming into attacking their fellow Autobots.
In fact, these issues apply to all giant sized Transformers, except for Unicron and Primus.
The only combiner that was intelligent was Bruticus, and he was the most dangerous of the Decepticon combiners because of this.
Dangerous enough for Megatron to reject him, because Bruticus could kill him and take over command of the Decepticons.
@@shauntempley9757 That is true in most readings of the fears of combining the Dinobots. But, now looking back at the Transformers expanded universe. There are options that we know of that could have imbibed them with intelligence and proper mental faculties. But, Computron and Defensor were both intelligent combiners. The Dinobots although unique, would have been comparable to Predaking without the intelligence.

when i was a kid in the 80s, i could never find this dino rider at stores. but eventually, i found a copy of this dinobrat at a flea market. it was made from a 3rd party company or something because he had wings...must of been drinking them energon red bull. anyway, anyone else bought a different version of this dino rider with energon red bull wings besides me in the 80s?
