Why is there an assumption that the people fleeing persecution are innocents and are just victims? What do people do when all the land is in use, and there are more people than there are ways to earn a living? They can live in poverty, leave, or force others to leave. This last is known as "persecution". Or they can take up drug or people smuggling. Is it just a coincidence that "asylum seekers" come from places in the world where the people have only recently restrained their reproduction or haven't reduced it very much at all?
