    Hi David here from the Uk you’re very much from the same league as Peter Chan from Herons Bonsai over here, what I admire about your and his videos is your relaxed approach and not taking this wonderful hobby to seriously.
    Always experimenting and not necessarily following the supposed rules……
    My biggest mistake over the years was not doing this and getting frustrated by the rule book,after 40 odd years of dabbling with bonsai I’m a lot happier and as long as my trees look good to me that’s all that matters, good advice for youngsters. Thank you keep up the great work 🙃

    Great to see an update on your trees it’s useful to see the growth you have achieved on the maples they as you say make great bonsai in quite a short time, the pine trees should all recover with the care you will give them, it’s interesting what you say about watering sometimes we get hung up with making sure the soil is open and glandular in texture and forget that the water will quickly drain away the soil may look wet but in fact it is dry below the surface, when working on young trees and trees that are struggling I will add water retaining compost which does help them recover or grow stronger.Thank you for your dedication to the art of bonsai and passing on your knowledge.

    You have great attitude and it’s infectious. Thanks for sharing the knowledge from your years of experience. I’m usually pretty timid in my approach to creating bonsai but I will take your advice and start to push myself to take more aggressive steps in designing my trees. Great videos!

    Hey Milton, is your mix to boggy? When I dig it’s real free draining but you use a lot of loam… you are a super star my friend

    • @bonsaiheirloom
      @bonsaiheirloom  11 месяцев назад +1

      I am not sure you’ll call it boggy with one part sandy loam, one part peat moss, and one part perlite. My mix drains slowly but provides adequate frensh air.
