Best Sabaton song not done by Sabaton! 😂 Nanowar of Steel are hilarious, but also brilliant musicians. Song is full of Sabaton references, musically and lyrically. They are singing about World Cup finale 1994 , which was in Pasadena, Brazil vs Italy (they are Italians). Funniest thing is that in Europe football is much more than just a sport and Italy loosing that game was seen as a national tragedy, so Sabaton war references really make sense in that context

Kind of funny in a way. Italians still see this as the greatest loss in history. But how many Italians remember that they won the cup 2006?

@mort58 we all remember 2006, but in 1994 we all wanted to see Baresi lift that trophy cause we knew he would not have that chance anymore and cause that was one of the mkst strong team Italy ever had with 2002 and 1982 world cup

Great reaction! Nanowar of Steel have been together for 20 years and there are a lot of great, and very diverse, videos on yt, you could look at "Barbie...." featuring Fabio Lione or "Norwegian Reggaeton" poking fun at Norwegian black metallers and their antics, or maybe "Uranus" featuring Michael Starr of Steel Panther? Have fun, man! :D

      Thank you!
Wow, 20 years?! That's a long time to be a band, good for them! I'll have to take a look at those songs, especially in the one poking fun at black metallers haha

Pasadena 1994 is about the 1994 FIFA Final in the US, Bracil vs. Italy. For Italy it was a battle for their glory and they lost it! So the topic fits absolutly to the ´Sabaton style from the view of an Italian football fan. It is so much like Sabaton, it made it on my Sabaton play list

In 1969 El Salvador and Honduras fought an actual war over football, that's how intense this sport can get.
Italy V Brasil in 1994 was clash of entire game phylosophy. Italy had a long tradition of "don't allow opponent to score". Brasil was the opposite, score one more then the opponent. Clash in final for world title was deadly serious for both sides. Nanowar is Italian band, for them this is a song about a tragedy.

In a lot of Europe and South America soccer is almost religion. This is absolutely true in both Italy and Brazil.
Kind of underlined by the reference to the jumbo screen then mention bein set up at Castel Sant'Angelo, a rather central spot in the Vatican, has been used as the residence of the pope. Kind of like "the White House" for the Catholics.

It is actually not the first time Joakim sings about football.
Sabaton did a cover of a swedish song about football quite some time ago called "Långa bollar på Bengt"
The song is a first person view of being in a team where the coaches son Bengt is playing forward and the rest of the team get only one direction from the coach, pass the ball to Bengt.

" Italians lose wars as if these were football maches and lose football maches as if these were wars " ...WINSTON CHURCHILL .
