I am italian. I remember perfectly that day, the tension, the feeling, the hope, the defeat. Somehow this song fits all of these perfectly! And it is fun too!
It's still a parody, making a Sabaton-style song about a football match - including all the telltale Sabaton features. Now I just want to see the Sabaton History episode about this ;)
I was in the U.S. Army at the time and stationed on Ft. Davis in Panama. Pretty much the whole company was in the rec room watching the match. Many cases of beer were drunk that day! The Battle of Pasadena is quite possibly the best soccer match I've ever seen! 🍺😎🤘
Simply a fantastic song! It could also have been written by Sabaton, if you ignore the football-theme. Every time I watch the video, I'm amused by Joakim, who looks like he can hardly stay serious. Too funny! 🔥🤘😁 The whole new Nanowar record is just great and a lot of fun. What is presented there in different music styles shows what great musicians Nanowar Of Steel are! And you really have to get the ideas for the lyrics too...
Great world cup final, with some legendary Italian boots, Paulo Maldini was my favorite defender back then, maybe the greatest left back ever, and Roberto Baggio was magic to watch here, a good Italian team, packed with good players, that could sum up what Italian football is all about,.. and packed in a total Sabaton vibed song, its cool yes.
7:37 A little detail: those "remains" with the soccer ball on top are a reference to "Ciao," the mascot of the Italia 90 World Cup 🥰 (and the spoken voice on the background was from the original 94 commentary)
That song immediatly made it on my Sabaton play list 😄I remember the game well, I was in London in a language school with a lot of Italian and Brazilian class mates .... 🤣🤣.. and traveled to Brazil a few weeks later.
I love Sabaton because they sing about Polish history and I'm from Warsaw, I love Nanowar of steel because I live in Italy and they make so many funny songs... that was a perfect combo. Thank you. BTW you HAVE TO listen the song uranus by Nanowar of steel, It's just hilarious, one of their best.
Actually during the 90s Italy had a big problem with penalties, as we lost 1990's semifinal against Argentina at the penalty kicks, we lost this final and we lost in 1998's quarterfinals to France (that went to win the title), again at PKs. In Euro 96 we were eliminated in the first round due to a 0-0 with Germany in which Gianfranco Zola missed a penalty kick during the game... The 2000's penalty shootout in the semifinal was probably the end of the "curse" (with the Totti one you mentioned), but only because Netherland was maybe even worse than us at penalties (in that game they missed two penalties in the game and three more at the shootout, also thanks to a great game by our goalkeeper Francesco Toldo)
Penalties, at that time, was about training with limited information (photographs, etc). It was hard to compile information and decide what is the best side and how to kick and decide it in few seconds or less. Today there is internet and people can training watching over and over how they kick/ defend etc. also there is the pressure factor that is 100% emotional - but it is also training. Having a bad history on penalties just increase the pressure on key moments like this.
Romario played 'till 44. He didn't do much but goals. I do love Paoloooooo Maldini, fucking legend but that time it was romaariooooo and bebeeeetoooo. Mi piacere
You're a legend for actually remembering the game so well! As a non-football enjoyer (despite being from football-crazy Germany) I kinda thought they picked a random game without much significance but you taught me the significance of this glorious day! Thank you for the educational reaction :D
Well, Nanowar is Italian, and the song literally says it's the "last fight" of the FIFA world cup. So being about a Fifa world cup where Italy is in the finals is not _that_ random.
hello ! thanks for your great work ! i'm french and in france we have a great parodic metal band called "ultra vomit" (traduce "ultra puke") they ar so funny and they have once the chance ton play in front of our president emmanuel macron ! looking for their sorg "kaamthar" (sounds link ramstein) and "evier metal" cheers bro !
Sabaton's greatest hits in one song

Still waiting for the Sabaton History Channel episode for this epic fight.
I assume Sabaton needs to play this song during a tour in Italy :)

The opening is a twist on the opening of lost battalion.
Love that they mention Maldini...Paulo Maldini, Ryan Giggs, Marco Van Basten and Peter Schmeichel was my favourite players growing up!
The best Sabaton song not made by Sabaton!
Hahaha awesome

6:30 Totti did the "Cucchiaio" (spoon) in Euro 2000 vs Netherlands.

What a song! Kick ass funny and factual!
but lets be honest, no one ever brought so much swag and style to football as Edgar Davids ;) loved that guy :D
As sequel I want Daejong 2002 and Berlin 2006
Thanks for the explanation of the match itself and who was who, I appreciate the song even more now.
Look Sabaton -The Art of War

I am disappointed that there is no Sabaton History video about this song.
I was born in 1994! 🤟
hot take: on par with Maldini as Libero? Mehmet Scholl, was always a great player for either bayern münchen or the german team.
Pasadena 1994 is the italian Ground Zero
Fantastici ❤!!
If you would like to react to an artist you might not have heard of before, I recommend Aesthetic Perfection with the song Gods & Gold.
It's Maldini not Martini,Paolo Maldini 😂
Eres un crack 🌹👈
This man looks like his dad’s name is Chad.
Damn…
My country finish 4th...
You're European...it's FOOTBALL, not soccer! Shame on you!😠😄 Other than that, great reaction! This song is perfection!
idk bro I think only the British really care about that. After all, other countries call it futebol, fussball, etc
Please stop calling it soccer.... you are from the civilized part of the globe
Stop calling it soccer!!! 😭😭😭. You did lose one fan because of that, at least.
Ok cool
You've got an excellent italian pronounciation
Grazie
