they have historian friends that help them with this. they also have a series on youtube called sabaton history directed by a historian friend that explains the backstory of their songs

This guitar work is about best they have done...ever and solo is out of this world
Its pretty sad, that this song is one of their less known. Great music and great theme (including the arabic-style intro, I love it^^). But it seems people like to hear more about one Battleship, than interessting parts of world history.^^

I recommend "Fields of Verdun", "To hell and back", "Screaming eagles", "Uprising", "Primo Victoria", "Night witches" and "Lion from the North" (this one you have to watch past the credits. Some hilarious stuff comes up there😉). Some of these videos are older, so there are other band members (Screaming eagles, To hell and back, Uprising). And if you've reacted to any of these already, you have to excuse an old gal... 😄

First time hearing this song it did not feel 100% but the second time hearing it it was like a 110% song and for every time i heard it it would get a bit better for every time. as im discover something new every time i play it that makes it better and better. And i really like the lightning on this video.

They don't get history wrong. There's at least 5 ppl "influencers" or such who actually tries to explain history what is already explained. Isn't that wonderful. History teacher Terry got it right...he actually said"son't know much about Bismark...

I don’t think the vocalist has to have a thorough knowledge of the history of the subject they’re singing about. The song is written after knowing the history of the subject and then the lyrics are written. From there, it’s a matter of learning the lyrics like any other lead singer would of their songs. The fans remember lyrics of their favorite songs whether they know the message behind them. It’s the same with lead vocalists.
