I have a Philosophy of Human Nature midterm tomorrow that revolves around Plato's Republic. My professor is very all over the place and rarely focuses on the most important parts. While studying I was struggling to connect the ideas such as the form of the good and justice because my prof did NOT connect anything. Overall, your video is really helpful and saves me a lot of stress. Thank you and please keep doing what you're doing for the sake of struggling students and nerds!

Is nice when Plato explain about Socrates ideal about justice city which want philosopher leaders to treat others fair and promoted female education.
I like the more ancient African philosophy in Egypt of Maat which is truth and justice and South African philosophy of ubuntu which is like brotherly and sisterly love.

Plato philosophy of justice get more complicated but what I get out of it is to use logic of try to explain what is justice instead of depended of what the Greek gods mythology or what the elite, King or tradition say by not using facts. I prefer what Bible say "do onto other as you like them to do unto you" Luke 6:31 Treated others equally as I wanted to be treaded.

I ain't thumbing the Bible . I just find it interesting how the three . Reason spirit and appetite and belief emotion and Desire . Justification! Etc play into this verse gen 3 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

The shadows are illusionary entities but as they're being cast by "real" objects they do correspond to real qualities. The basic concept of "The Matrix" can give a more tangible understanding of the allegory of the cave.
