    Blackfish Official Trailer #1 (2013) - Documentary Movie HD
    BLACKFISH tells the story of Tilikum, a notoriously aggressive orca that killed three people while in captivity. Director Gabriela Cowperthwaite uses shocking footage and emotional interviews to present a convincing case against keeping these wild animals for human entertainment.

    I got 12 mins into Blackfish and had to stop watching. The mother's cries as her baby was taken was enough to break my heart. Human beings are the real killers here, not these innocent animals. Sickening.

      Christina Greenland it's the same with the circus and elephants..i have heard of many cases of trainers hitting elephants with bullhooks for training, eventually the elephant will snap, and what happens, they kill the elephant because it is dangerous to humans..i didn't know anything about this, put it angers me so much that pretty soon these creatures can't take much more, and snap, then they are the ones who get punished >:(

      supermom46372 I went to visit a circus with animals ( very sceptical) in it and be for the show we were aloud to look at the animal and right be for the show a local vet has to come out and check over all that animal to make sure that they were being treated right and they were heath. The animals are only around to be in the circus ring for 15 minutes or the Circus we be under investigation and face prison time the local vet also stay with them for the show and after as well. I not in any way saying what they did at SeaWorld is acceptable because its not but just because one place dose it doesn't mean they all

    Kalina's story breaks my heart. Not only was she separated from her mother, all four of her calves were taken from her. When her fourth calf, Skyla, was moved to another pool and lifted out by a stretcher, Kalina began to ram violently into the gate that separated them. She ended up with severe lacerations on her face. She never saw her daughter again and died within a few short years. They forced her to breed at only six years old. In the wild, orcas typically start calving between thirteen to fourteen years of age. Having a calf at eight years old is unheard of in whale society - at least in the wild.
    Kalina isn't the only orca to have been bred too young. Takara was torn from her mother, hauled across the country three times to different SeaWorld parks, treated like a breeding mare and separated from two of her calves.
    Kohana (Tilikum and Takara's daughter), Skyla (Tilikum and Kalina's daughter), Tekoa (Tilikum and Taima's son) and Keto (Kalina's son and the orca who killed Alexis Martinez) were torn away from their mothers at young ages and shipped off to Spain. Kohana rejected both of her calves, Skyla is dead, Keto has serious anger issues, Tekoa and Morgan are frequently harassed by the other orcas.

    Whether you agree with this movie or not, one thing is clear. Man kind is the only species that will exploit and destroy animals, our environment and our own human kind solely for the sake of profit. We don't do these things because its a basic instinct and we have to for survival, we do it because we want to and because we are obsessed with trying to ensure our dominance. Tilikum didn't kill so that he could hang the human above his fireplace, or so that he could get that new BMW he wanted. These animals act purely off of instinct and response to their environment.

Thing is, animals kill themselves to be the alpha, Humans? Na, we kill other species to be superior, ez pz lemon squeezy.

      The point is to not take part in the animal cruelty. It's not to drive a species to extinction. I don't want to eat animals because I don't want to give money to the people who treat them horribly. For me, it's based on principle.
      And by no means should anyone watch a documentary and believe every word said in it. Usually, there are sketchy parts. They can still make a person sad.

      John Doe. That suits me perfect, except for the MLP part, dont know what that is. Thing is, I respect people, who in some way believe in god .. Because those people have to had something terrible happend to them. I mean, if something terrible would ever happen to me or one of my closest, maybe I would start believe in some greater power too. Simply because I would be scared shitless by the thoughts of what would happen to me or my dearest. But, if you believe in god because of what some scam shitface wrote a long time ago, or because your parrents do, or because thats what you heard in school once. Then you are retarded and you dont think for yourself. I hate this generation of people whos just listening to the news and then thats the truth. Or reading the bible and then thats what they believe. It makes me so sad that people do not think for themselves. It would only take a couple of minutes with some logical thinking to understand that evolution is by far the theory that makes the most sense right now. I know nothing is certain, and I know that noone can say for sure that Jesus or whatever exsisted. But you can think of both of the most respected theories yourself. And if you think anything else than evolution is true, then you are an unintelligent person. (By the way, english isnt my first language, clearly ..)

    This is one of the saddest things I've ever seen.
    I just watched this, and I cried and I'm still crying. Just to know that these beautiful animals are kept in tiny pools and are forced to do stunts to amuse people is disgusting. They are highly intelligent creatures, that have feelings, that can feel pain, that can feel bored, that can feel happiness. And all the people in this documentary that has captured and trained them says they are ashamed of what they've done. Those animals means nothing to those parks, they don't care if they are depressed, barely moving in their small pools just as long as they perform. It breaks my heart, that this is what humanity has come to, that we don't care about other living creatures just as long as we get what we want. I makes me sick.

  • @LiveTwinReaction
    @LiveTwinReaction 9 лет назад +228

    I seriously do not understand the lack of logic by those who say the film is fake or heavily edited unfairly etc..
    if it was, then just ignore the trainer interview parts. but there's no amount of ignorance in the world that could lead someone to deny the video footage itself - all of that happened. and just by the footage itself of the park and whales, you can tell something is very wrong. there's a bit in the video where the whale jumps up onto the platform and has a huge gash near the back end, blood gushing out. you know why? because the whales were aggressive to each other in ways that would never happen in the wild. it is aggression caused by the realities of their captivity, deprivation of food, being kept in small or lonely tanks.. that isn't how any animal in captivity is supposed to be living. the collapsed dorsal fin of tilikum is an important thing to note - tilikum is not the only captive orca with this quality. in seaworld, every male orca has a collapsed dorsal fin. guess how often it happens in the wild... the answer? less than 1 percent of males. there is another part of the documentary showing footage of the attack on dawn. seaworld representative blames her and says the cause was being dragged by her ponytail... which is the most insulting, blatant lie. the documentary shows the footage of tilikum grabbing her by her left arm and pulling her... nowhere near her ponytail.
    sigh. these comments just disappoint me further of humanity, who knew there were so many people who don't believe what is impossible to fake.

    • @xMyPointlessChannelx
      @xMyPointlessChannelx 9 лет назад +33

      And sadly, the most ignorant of all is SeaWorld itself. It bluntly denied the facts given in the doc after it was released. They didn't even want to be interviewed. Now that is pretty fishy. They know what's going on.

      so who is lying?
      the opening sequence has nothing to do with it.. its still entertainment. you do know that right? its a video on NETFLIX. the opening sequence is just foreshadow to the ending. some might even call that good story telling, as opposed to them just standing in front of the camera and just stating facts.
      and so what if its just different videos playing with the 911 call? they show us the actual footage later anyway as the ending. so what is your argument? that because they teased us with the truth at the beginning it doesn't count when they fully show it at the end? the truth is the truth no matter how they showed it bud.
      the only thing I cant argue is the actual percentage of collapsed dorsal fins, because I've seen both put out there as fact and I've looked into it myself. so the real question is my first question..... who is lying?

  • @horseracer676
    @horseracer676 10 лет назад +50

    You don't need to be a scientist of any type to know that capturing/stealing a large wild animal and putting it on display in a small tank for amusement purposes is wrong.
    You can say that 'Blackfish' had faults/inaccuracies, but the bottom line is whether or not you can judge for yourself if these whales are happy or not.
    Seaworld has blatantly lied to the public about killer whale dorsal fin collapse, lifespan, physical health and aggression in their whales. To me that sounds like an organization trying to cover up potentially shocking/wrongful actions to make a profit. You only lie when you don't want someone to know the truth.
    If I were an orca I would want to be in the wild, not in a theme park for human entertainment.

    The trainer was not the cause, the orca was not the cause, society’s ideas of what is right and wrong was the cause. Somehow we think it’s ok to put humongous marine mammals in what is considered a bath tub to them, feed them dead fish, and use them. This causes the animal to get depressed, bored, and even insane at times. This is a great example, the orca had know live prey to eat and was most likely depressed, bored, and on the verge of insanity, which caused him to attack the animal that was around him most and was not part of his ‘pod’ because it was the easiest target for live prey.
    There’s are only my observations though.

It was so friggin sad not only for the poor Orcas/killer whales but also for the poor trainers who had no say in anything and shared such a deep, warm, loving bond with their whales and yet were still subjected to such violent attacks because the whales had no other way to express their frustration of being so hungry and isolated :'(

    Putting orcas in captivity is like putting humans in refugee camps. You get calves separated from their mothers greeted with new whales that can speak different languages. You have whales that fight others whales which lead to serious injuries. Female orcas being impregnated too young. Females Orcas can actually live up to 100 hundred years- males being 60= years. Some whales get very sick, injured, psychotic and traumatized. You take their natural abilities from them into preforming amusing shows. Yep- very inhumane. If the world was like how an orca remains in captivity- so much chaos will reign.

    Have you seen their dorsal "thing" (idk how to call it, i'm french)? The wild orcas have their dorsal "up" and straight while the one in captivity have their completly down! Plus, the aquariums are way too small for them, even more if they are in groups! Some people says that animals doesn't have emotions like humans, but one way or another, those orcas can feel depressed and soon after become angry because of the stress of the shows! They are unhealthy in captivity; so you can say that there is also dolphin, seals or sharks in captivity and nothing wrong ever happen, but those are little animals and orcas are like 7 meters long and they eat freaking whales!
    And finally, do you know how much orcas dies when peoples tries to catch only one?
    count 5 dead for one alive.

These people worked hard to create this and just wanted to show everyone what is happening to these animals but all that everyone does is complain because the film is "emotional". Ugh. If this makes you angry then go vegan and stop being the part of the problem and be part of the solution while getting healthier yourself. Problem is most of you are selfish as hell....and you care about nothing and no one but yourself and your own selfish desires. This is when taste and entertainment is more important than the rights of other living beings and especially the right to LIVE.

Mind you they don't know about the conditions these whales are in as they see them from afar or quick glimpses of them out of the water as they jump or sit on the edge for fish or something.

I know very well it's awesome to come and watch them making tricks for couple of hours and it's a incredible experience for the kids but those animals are not cute and sweet animals which we can train and have them... There dangerous and they need to be in there own environment... If people want to see them so badly they should take a boat and go to there own environment... It's not the same as in a amusement park and your never sure if your going to see them but you'll have a satisfaction that those beautiful Orcas are happy and there not going to spend there whole life in a small space making people happy... I think everyone of us should watch the movie and realize that buying tickets to see Orcas we more less contribute to their captivity... I hope one day people will understand it and there going to let those beautiful creatures live in there own environment...
