So a colleague of mine at a previous job was a former Bose engineer through the 1990s and 2000s. He explained that the upper and lower ports create an airflow diode that produce more inward flow of air on the bottom port and more outward flow of air in the upper port, for the purpose of exchanging the air inside the enclosure to cool the amplifier. Overall it's a 6th-order bandpass design.
Wow I had no ideal. Thanks for the info.
Very nice, my Grandpa has the Lifestyle Bose 48 system and its what started my love for audio!
I own a LS48 and SoundBar 700 with bass module
MARINLAW Nice! My Bose collection consists of an Acoustimass 10 series 2 system.
Interesting. Thanks. I'm retiring my old Lifestyle 12 system & going back to a stereo separate component system like I had in the 80's. The voices through the Bose were muffled, display on the head unit blown & fuse blow every few years on the Acoustimass. It's been fun but time to spend some big $ & move on.
VERYNICE DEMO..
Any idea what will be the problem if this does not receive power ?
Do u know how many watts is each subwoofer speaker? Model 260772
Ty 👍
Hello,
Can you please tell me how I can delete the music of Bose Lifestyle 48 (Umusik)? I had once had keyboard shortcuts on the BOSE AV48 to do this. But I forgot, maybe you know?
There is also a keyboard shortcut to organize the BOSE-Umusic after songs have been deleted, you also know the combination of buttons on the BOSE AV48 Media Center
Greetings and stay HEALTHY
do you know how do i canhave a BOSE SW VERSION 03.03.04?
Thanks and i wish you all the best...
Hey i have now a bose 600, do you know the code for the service menü? I think there i can change the speakers from jewel cube to omnijewel if i buy the omnijewel too upgrade
Just change them . And then run Adaptiq it will reconfigure itself
thanks, but are you shure? bose tells me that it works but the console as the Software for the jewels, adaptiq too
So 280w RMS, what's the breakdown for the sub, front, center and surround?
Felizardo Aguilar sorry what do you mean
Just watch your whole video, very informative, 3 chips, 40w front, 80w center, 40w rear, so sub 120w? Planning to use this sub with my Bose 151 as front which is right now connected to my 5.1 amp. So what's the best way to connect the sub and the 151? Can I eliminate the 5.1 amp?, so stand alone sub and 151, tnx
Como puedo conectarlo a un amplificador Yamaha
Looks like Desktop Computer's Sytem Unit
Bit big for that
It does though and that’s a old one
I have one and it’s too big to look like a desktop unit
Hi,How to remove Front Plastic
The Subwoofer is same cinemate 520?
Which is better?
No. They look sim but definitely not the same
Lmao..a lil hamster powering up d speaker
Hey man, I've been meaning to ask you: Is the studio like foam inside the bass module something you out inside or something Bose actually installed themselves?
I know you like to tinker with things this why I'm asking, but would love to know because if so.. that's damn impressive. I current have the Bose V20 and have since chucked my Paradigm Millrnia CT system in the closet as it absolutely floors the Paradigms, but I'm going even farther with the Jewel Cubes and PS48 when I can.
I know the PS28 doesn't have the foam, but sounds very clean and musical, so again please let me know on that eggshell foam stuff.
Glad to see you're still making vids, keep it up man!
The idea of the poly fill is to make the woofers think there in a bigger box , it does extend low frequencies a bit which helps the overall sound . Connect the millinea satts to the Bose and then run the adapt IQ . I’ve found the Jewel cubes to be a bit limited compared to the standard cubes . Experiment with it . I’m currently looking at a cheap V30 Bose system atm never know might put out some new videos soon
@@TheTechGuyYT Ok man, but you didn't answer my question, lol - did you install that foam in the bass module yourself (along the sides of the cabinet wall and around the isobaric dual woofer chamber) or did it come like that from the factory?
I know all about acoustics and polyfill; I've built my own subs (sort of, parts and tinkered, got one working that sounded decent) - but I'm asking if that's all default Bose foam, fr the factory.
I personally far prefer the Bose sats over anything else. I've even had the BeoPlay S8 by Bang & Olufsen and while a brilliant system, couldn't quite compare to the Bose.
Again, excellent channel man, you go against the grain which is awesome!!
@@TheTechGuyYT And sorry if that sounded snooty dude,, just meant the main question wasn't answered, which is why I commented in the first place; So Bose foam or your foam?
@@TheTechGuyYT Are you going to answer my question or not man? Or do you just generally leave people hanging on your channel?
Sorry I have a full time job . Yes I installed the poly fill / foam
I think you forget install the aluminum cover ..
I did you just don’t see it installed in the video
@@TheTechGuyYT 😅
This bass module looks like the one used in my previous Bose 535 system...
They do that alot
Yo ensamble más de 10000 unidades en México
Oye x q bose nunca pone datos tecnicos
Oye amigo x q bose nunca pone datos tecnicos
.. thats a woofer...
*h e h e*
i have bose ps 28 fuse blown
I was blowing fuses almost every year. Cheap to replace yourself, expensive via a tech though
what causes fuse to blown
Overload can
Not using a surge protector 🤣🤣🤣
No low no highs definitely BOSE's shit
We always found Bose was terrible for playing movies through. Voices were muffled & overtaken by the louder bass & treble. If it was so crap for TV what was I missing out on my CDs?!
An old active sub woofer! how old is that? is it from 1980 or something, look pretty old.
It’s a 2006
Two subs
@@watsonanthony8438 duh what 2 subs?
@@apolloares6114 the enclosure has dual drivers. It handles 35 htz well
Watson Anthony so what?! Even if it would contain 4 drivers, still it would have called an active subwoofer, due to the fact it’s a whole active subwoofer system.
I have 3600 Watts for real lol JBL/Crown the real deal. What stores sell home amps that claim 1000 watts falsely? Would those be the surround ones at Walmart running at 2 Ohms perhaps lol?
?? Bose don’t claim any power figures . Walllmarrrtttt
But yeah like I’ve got a LG5.1 system laying around claims 1300 or so watts . Yet it pulls 113w from the wall
Still put out higher power than those 1000watt home theatre.
Cool speaker!
Oh hey didn’t expect you here . Love your channel
@@TheTechGuyYT thank you!
I wanted a better look at the woofer. Oh well.
Unfortunately I would have to break the module to remove the woofer
@@TheTechGuyYT really? Eh, bummer.
The Tech Guy~ typical Bose stuff !! Non serviceable speaker
@@janinapalmer8368 Bose is like the apple of the audio world.
PLEASE USE ELECTRIC SCREW DRIVERS THANKS
No
That can fuck up the screw holes if not careful
BOSE PS18III POWER SUPPLY board 286612-002 Q402,Q403 part nuber please Which one is TIP35,TIP36
This is not a subwoofer what people think . It's a bass booster . It's made to let low sound what we can here. The funny thing is that de Bose bass boosters your neighbor do hear it like a supwoofer lol
It’s a Bass Module . It plays down to 35 hz so it can be called a subwoofer
@@TheTechGuyYT
Yes but still not a subwoofer . A good subwoofer you do not hear sound only pomp air around. Bose have make this so the low sound com from the woofer to compensate the small speakers it use for high and middel .
Still you can have good speakers what are not bose.
Is see bose a stereo or HiFi set for dummies .
Easy install and for a lot of people good to use and sound
sebastiaan suijkerbuijk you know I own JBL LS60s right lol
Lol Bose subs blow lol I have 18" JBL's that make Bose look sick.
@@dyslectische unless you talking port wind noise but human cannot hear below 32 htz
240 watts. That is more then enough for a large living room. 20 feet by 15 feet. Had many of party with my Am5 with more then 20 people and the music was louder then the crowd. Louder without distortion. Their are better system but Bose was the first to come out with a sub system. Other follow. My Am5 are 18 year old. She will die soon. She showing her age. I will miss her but will upgrade to better. She did her job well. She just missing mid bass. So a got another two small sub just to cover that range. I thing Bose fell off the band wagon lately after the founder die, like Steve Job and Apple, no more thinking out the box, think money now.
The best thing i find in them is the simplicity in use with their promise of good quality sound.
Bonus is that no matter how loud i play, it never distorts regardless of the bass level even if it is all right up to max setting.
I've updated to a SoundBar 700 and bass module 700 it's even better
Bose thought nothing else except MONEY. Cheap ass shit and suckers bought it.
I love the sound of Bose, but that's definitely not 3/4 inch particle board, more like half inch or 5/8 at the most.
Bass test inside this sub!

Hardware very much
What in all the hells happened to that poor thing? I have never seen a Bose in such bad condition. Not that I am a Bose fan. But wow, that thing was in sorry condition.
That finish is the reason why I will never buy anything in white. If you want things to look good for longer, buy black or a dark wood finish. I've had my Bose for 14 years and it looks like I bought it yesterday.
The white cube grills look grubby after a few years.
@@Seapin1 Yeah but I was lucky to get my jewel cubes (the smaller ones) in black at that time.
Comparing amplifier power to the rating on the power input is stupid. Power consumption ratings are NOMINAL, often at 1/8 Power so a 600w home theater amp may only say 150 or 180w on the power input because that is an AVERAGE consumption. This is NOT what the amplifier is capable of. Even pro audio equipment(amplifiers)is rated the same.
Not knowing this makes your opinion invalid.
Also how many watts something is is not even half of the story to actual bass output. Driver efficiency and enclosure design are more important. 100w into this module is nothing to 100w into a stack of 18" horn loaded concert bins. Bose are usually rather inefficient so 100w into this module is almost definitely less bass than a 100w 12" sub designed for home theatre.
... The max power ive ever seen this system pull from the wall was 320 ish watts . so the 350 MAX as it clearly states is accurate . bose always write MAX on them. Now as for the " sensitivity " yes on an 18 it would be louder as normally a 18 or 12 is more sensitive hence more efficient then a 5 inch
Also if you watched the video you will see i look up the chips . i dont claim its a devision of the power consumption
Still no reply lol
Are you taking their ratings? I don't trust them. Needs a dyno. These companies will say anything to sell their products. The bigger the company, the worst! Because they can get away with it, where small companies can not get away with false advertising. Can't afford to. I'm shopping at small stores. Peace all!
Bose don’t provide rating I looked up the chips and measured the power supply voltage to come to the conclusion of power output
I just don’t enjoy Bose tech find it trashy
