This is so cool, you're videos make me order take-out sushi whenever I watch them :)
I have done this in the past and then made a butterfly out of a carrot and set it on top. This is an excellent idea for red onion and the kids seem to love it too as well as the adults.

My mum used to do that (only the first step , cutting out the flower from it) with ripened guavas and gave us to eat. It looked awesome :)

Great video and nice to see you where having fun in the end. Onions are like my Kryptonite. I've tried every trick, freezing them etc... its like being sprayed in the face with pepper spray I can see a thing.
Have you considered a hazmat suit?
