that's how Vi deals with uncertainty or feeling like shes gunna get someone hurt, Cait is still hurt in that scene and Vi knew that she wouldn't let her go alone back down to Zaun, I think the breakup was part Vi being scared as well as not wanting Cait to get hurt fighting
Been about two weeks, but what the hell. Cait broke Vi out of Jail the same day Jayce was put on the council. When they were all in the council chamber, Jayce said "We've been talking about talking for WEEKS." Also, the reaction of Cait's parents suggest that more than a couple days has passed. I think a considerable amount of time compression happened during the show, and they spent at least a week or two in the undercity. That also lends more credibility to their budding relationship- they grew together over a week or two, not a day or two.

Caitlyn's shower scene is so beautiful. First time I watched, I felt a little uncomfortable, but then as I rewatched and thought about it, it just became one of my favorite moments in the show. I love how they did a female shower scene that's not male gazy or sexualized and it's so intimate and real. I also love Caitlyn very much.
you're right, but I would say that not a single scene is there solely for a male (or female) gaze. There is always a narrative purpose that comes first.

Also I always thought it was more about the Blood (something red...like Vi) and Water (something drawn blue, like Cait) mixing perfectly. Unlike Oil and Water.
technically the Caitlyn shower scene does use the male gaze, but in a way not usually used toward female characters: she's framed how central male characters usually are -- respected by the camera, powerful, center stage, someone to project yourself onto and see yourself in, not as an object to titilate the audience (which would just be distracting and take me out of the moment and roll my eyes like ok cool how typical). Every frame is used to accentuate her emotions and strength as a character as appropriate for the scene.
She’s the subject, rather than an object of the screen.
The male gaze is just a tool and it's really refreshing to see it used in this way rather than the way it's been constantly abused and overused toward female bodies (which is gross). The female gaze is a thing too but has less examples -- Mad Max Fury Road, Harley Quinn, and Portrait of a Lady on Fire come to mind. Also all the Barbie films.

I knew someone, somewhere would finally recognize the little look and nod from Cait's mom after Vi runs off. I'm glad it's you, because I also think you'd appreciate the gesture more.
The facial expressions in this show are so unbelievably good. Watch this little nod again, and you'll see what I mean, the slight upward flick of her eyes afterward. This is more than a "you may leave." There's a tiny hint of, "Go get her," afterward.
She's definitely not perfect, but I think Cait's mom is way better than most people give her credit for. In this episode, there are two moments where it becomes clear what Caitlyn wants, first to speak with the council and second to chase after Vi, and in both cases, once she catches on how important it is, she IMMEDIATELY supports Cait.

Its been close to a couple weeks maybe more since Caitlyn first broke Vi out of the prison and they started working together. You can tell by Caitlyn’s parents reaction she was gone for at least a couple days and spent a lot of time in undercity.
I love that Vi and Caitlyn’s relationship is built on trust. Not just attraction. That’s what makes their love so genuine. Yes, I’m dying for them to kiss, but it’s these sweet tender moments of vulnerability, dependability, risk, and sacrifice that makes their love so real and strong.

For the scene of the Doctor (Singed, but his name isn't ever said in the series) knocking out Silco, I think it's simply a mattter of knowing how painful it's going to be to save Jinx and knowing that it wouldn't be easy for Silco to watch and he may have interfered. Hence the 'I too once had a daughter line.' As he said when he knocked SIlco out 'this is for your sanity' so he wouldn't have to see the operation.

The part that gets me is he clearly has a sedative capable of knocking Silco out but doesn't give anything to Jinx to ease her suffering
@@VegetaLF7 Well to be fair, you can't sedate someone that is at risk of death, it will kill her/him. That was the only way to save her. I find arcane version of Singed way more interesting that the lol one. He seems more human and complex.
What people probably forget is that singed has a messed up face and is probably in pain because of powders monkey bomb in episode 3. He probably knows this and that's why he is malevolently excited about the pain this procedure is causing Jinx
@@InfernusdomniAZ It seems to me that the malevolence may also simply be at least partially projected by Jinx. HIs face is messed up and his voiced being mixed in with Cait's makes it difficult to tell if he's actually being sadistic or if it's just Jinx's hallucenations again.
Fun fact: Ever since she was added to the game in 2013, Jinx has always had pink eyes. So when trailers for this show came out and we saw her with blue eyes in every shot, it definitely sparked a lot of questions and theories. Crazy to see it actually have a meaning than just a design choice.

No but you can understand why Vi leaves Cait if you think back to the first episodes. Vander telling her she must be prepared to lose the ones she loves if she choses war and violence. So I really thinks that's because she wants Cait to be safe and because she cares so much about her that she leaves her; she leaves to fight in Silco's labs and dont want Cait to be involved so she doesnt get hurt.

Yes. She knew she was about the do something very reckless and didn't want Cait to get caught right in the middle of it.
Couple things Vi needs to learn tho:
- Cait is an enforcer. She almost got blown up by Jinx in episode 4 and again in ep 7, but she refuses to let go of her sense of justice and continues with her passion regardless of her life is in danger. She would do the same for Vi and as much as it's scary, it's just something Cait wants to do. Because she cares.
- pushing people away doesn't protect them, contrary to Vi's believe. I think she's got this danger complex where she believes herself to be dangerous to those close to her, maybe it started when she hit Powder and realized she had to take a step away as to not hurt her anymore. But she "left" powder and then Silco showed up. She left Caitlyn this time, and Jinx showed up. People get hurt regardless if they're close to you or not, and it's only gonna hurt you more if you weren't there to do anything about it.

Not just Silco, poverty is so rampant down there that even kids have to work for anyone their keep.
The scene's purpose was to show Jayce realising that if it does come to full on war, even if they win, children will forever remember the destruction caused by topside and repeat the cycle of hatred over and over again.
Just you talking about Mel, Vi and Caitlyn, and the laughs when you see them in Caitlyn's room is just... priceless and made my day😄
First time they touch, Vi asks for help standing up after Caitlyn saves her. Second time, Vi stops Caitlyn from touching her while she is weak and vulnerable. Third time, Caitlyn holds Vi’s face until Vi relaxes. Fourth time, Vi hugs Caitlyn and brushes her cheek goodbye. Fifth time, Vi is the one that helps Caitlyn up when she’s injured. Sixth time, they lie on the bed. Caitlyn mimics Vi’s body language and reaches out to brush Vi’s face. But THIS time, Vi allows her and holds her hand, not letting go. She wanted that touch to stay.

Can we take the moment to appriciate that Silco has all these big muscular body guards, but chose to carry Jinx himself. There were people objectively better for that task than him, but he deemed her too important, and too precious to trust in the hands of another. He's a terrible person, but this man cares!
I think the lip bite from Caitlyn was something about how Vi and Caitlyn *aren’t* oil and water, but instead blood and water. Capable of mixing, but only with some work.

Just wanted to throw this out there: The scene in Caitlyn’s bedroom takes place in the morning, the meeting with the Council is at night. So there’s basically a whole day’s worth of stuff with Vi and Caitlyn that we don’t see.
Sleeping, most likely. Fans would be outraged if their first kiss was declared to have happened off screen!

One interesting dynamic in the relationship between Vi and Cait is that even though Vi is arguably more masculine out of the 2, Cait is actually the pursuer most of the time here, which is traditionally associated with the masculine side. And yet, even though it breaks with the established tropes, it makes complete sense from a character standpoint: Cait is the compassionate, outgoing one, while Vi is the introvert who bottles up her feelings. Just another way in which the show goes against what we consider "the norm", in a completely natural way.
Great take. I also noticed that even though Vi is the loud, brash, headstrong one, which is usually associated with being extraverted, she really comes across more as an introvert when it comes to her interior life. Caitlyn appears reserved and calm, but like you said, is fairly outgoing and friendly, but just comparatively more soft spoken. I love how their dynamic twists all the stereotypes up. I hope we see more of that next season
Wall of text warning!
I’ve been thinking of Vi from a purely pragmatic angle. During Act 1, she started off literally stumbling across her dead parents in a war zone. Then skip to when she’s about sixteen years old, and had to be mature beyond her age to guide and care for Powder and the others. At no point did we hear anything about a boyfriend, crush, significant other. Nothing, almost as if she’s used to being alone, separate from the others.
Then; seven-ish years of prison - and this is the really sad bit. No visitors, no friends, no outside communication. The only human contact Vi had was with other prisoners, who I’m guessing ended up perhaps a bit wary of the Vi Fist. Only other people in her life were the guards and their regular ‘chats,’ which, let’s be honest, would have probably involved more than just the occasional beating. And I can imagine Vi did _not_ submit quietly, she would have punched, kicked, bit and spat, and made them pay dearly for every atrocity. That’s most probably the real reason she’s in solitary in sub-basement 40.
That’s seven years, right in the middle of her transition to adulthood, of enduring unrelenting physical and emotional abuse and isolation, with no reprieve. Not a single tender, caring touch or word from anyone.
There’s an attachment type called Dismissive Avoidance. This is where the person concerned grew up with random or non-existent responses to emotional needs, so they grow up to be loners, with ingrained trust issues which makes them seem distant and aloof. Inside though, they crave to be close to someone, but are also scared of closeness, because they’re convinced that there’s something intrinsically _wrong_ with them - after all, they always end up alone, of course there’s something wrong with them (they justify). It’s very difficult for a DA to ask for help, and express emotional needs, because for most of their lives, they’ve never had those needs met, so why bother?
She didn’t trust Caitlyn straight off, of course she didn’t, because every single experience in her life was yelling at her that you can’t trust anyone, that you’ll be hurt, physically or emotionally, so DON’T DO IT! That’s also partly the reason she left Cait, not just to stop her getting into danger, but because a DA is terrified their partner will find out that undefined thing that’s wrong with them, and judge them unworthy; so they’ll leave first, to maintain some control of the situation.
I’d argue that Vi simply reaching her hand up and asking Caitlyn for help is a far more important step for her than anything that may or may not have happened afterwards.
As to what happened in _The Bedroom?!_ I think Caitlyn gave Vi precisely what she needed more than anything at that moment; a safe space to rest, and basic human contact.
@@Pete...NoNotThatOne I agree! Just on a side note: We dont see the "chats" in action, but the guard grabs a stick or a metal rod, judging by the sound it makes against the floor. I dont think it's possible she had that many of them, because otherwise she would have sustained permanent damage. Yes, I saw someone on the internet say she has a slightly dislocated shoulder, but that would not even be close to what can happen after just one "chat" with a stick like that. Maybe it's too pedantic to argue with anatomy/real world physics with characters who evidently have plot armor (Vi jumps down like 20 meters, being injured and slams on the ground, and walks it off), but it was something that bothered me in a show that otherwise put so much emphasis on logical consistency. The guards dont seem to have shimmer to spare to heal wounds or anything, so any damage she endures in prison would be made worse by lack of treatment and hygiene.
And this is a trend i noticed with all the main characters: None of them stay injured. Its like the showrunners acknowledge that sometimes they have to get injured to up the stakes, but they are unwilling to have these characters be out of commission for a while and take a back seat. Ekko gets his leg busted and it is made out to be a problem that he cant use his board, but it ends up being a non-issue since they still make it to his place. Jinx almost blows herself up, but even before Synged cleaned his stuff, she's already back on her feet doing Jinx things. Vi gets stabbed in the gut, but takes a sip of Shimmer and is immediately back in action. This kinda makes any non-fatal injury a main character suffers a non-issue, because you can be almost certain that there will be - in league terms - an instant trip back to fountain and then go as usual.
@@thomasmann4536 I think that stick the warden was holding was a shillelagh, a type of walking stick. They wouldn’t have used anything like that on a prisoner, they’d have probably rubber truncheons or just their fists for the ‘chats.’ But you do see Vi tense up when the sound of the shillelagh comes tapping down the corridor, it’s like their warning signal to her. As I mentioned previously, I believe there may be far worse atrocities involved in some of these ‘chats,’ but let’s not go there.
Also, the dislocated shoulder came from when she was pinned under the steel door in ep 3. It’s probably a recurring discomfort for the rest of her life - you can see the way she flexes her shoulder before a fight.
I do agree though, the way Vi recovered from a penetrating blunt-instrument stab wound with just a drop of shimmer and the love of a good woman was really quite miraculous, wasn’t it?

In any case, I think the idea of guards mistreating prisoners is a very popular trope but a very poor thought out one, because while the emotional trauma Vi experiences is portrayed realistically, there would also be lasting physical trauma, which is simply non-existent in this world.
Amanda Overton (works on scripts for Arcane) got asked if Cassandra (Cait’s mom) had caught Cait sneaking girls into her room before since her reaction was so mild. Amanda replied that there was “definitely something familiar about that scene.” And the fandom ran with that. Caitlyn the Lady Killer. I mean, the way she was flirting with that woman at the brothel, can we really be surprised.
The History of Art Appreciation, is what I’ve dubbed the opening of this episode in your honor.
The Breakup Scene is so good for a number of reasons. Mostly I love the idea of distance that’s been played with in their relationship. Their partnership starts with Cait taking a step over a line to reach out to Vi, and since then there’s been so much closeness and touching between them. But here, in the rain scene, Vi is purposefully keeping distance with Cait even as she tries to reach out again, refusing to look at her as she calls them oil and water and says that Cait should forget her.
But there’s also this second bit. Vi’s about to do something dangerous and reckless. And she’s doing what she did all those years ago with Powder. Walking away to protect her. With Powder it was protecting her from herself until she managed to cool down. Now, with Cait, it’s protecting her from being dragged any further into her drama. Keeping her safe. Unfortunately, she doesn’t count on Jinx showing up at Cait’s home but…
I love the visual of Viktor finally being able to outrun the boat.
“Of everyone, you’re the one [Cait] trusted to do something.” Vi really holds Cait’s opinion in high regard now, huh. Lot of trust.
The second time we’ve seen Cait’s Detective Mind at work and it’s just her replaying the Break Up scene over and over while in the shower. Like girl… that’s fruity. That’s a whole fruit salad.

@@f1lthyfangs the dramatic thing about that comparison with Vi/Powder & Vi /Caitlyn "leaving" is, in the Act I Powder didn't heed her word and everything went south. And now Vi "succeeded in leaving Cait" in order to protect her but still it goes south with Jinx bringing her forcefully back into the picture. Whenever Vi tries to distance herself in order to protect sb. it just doesn't work out for her. Even when Vi wanted to sacrifice herself for Vander and her family (by turning herself in), Vander intervenes and because of Silco almost all of her family dies in the end.
@BattleAngelFan yeah I think so too. Jinx wanted to bring her back into the game anyways. And in S2 I think Caitlyn will continue to chase Vi even if her mother dies. She will be hurting ofc she lost her mother, but in the end she won't blame Vi for that.

Just noting how the creators of the show like to echo earlier scenes and events with later ones... So we had Mel and Jayce get intimate in bed in Piltover while Jayce's undercity "brother" underwent a major and painful shimmer-assisted transformation to try to avoid dying. So now with this episode, we have Cait and Vi getting intimate in Piltover and cut to Vi's undercity sister Jinx going through a major and painful shimmer-assisted transformation to stave off death as well.
The parallel does support those who want to believe the scene in Caitlyn's bedroom may have gone further than we were shown...

Anyone from any background can be any thing they want, so long as they have the power to take it. They hate nobility, who they see as weak cowards, hiding behind their subjects. Ambessa is a General, a warrior of Noxus, and she earned that rank through fire and bloodshed.
I like how at the beginning of the episode Mel's mom talks about how she was made use to the battlefield and we can assume Mel was as well. But given jayce's reaction to the violence on the bridge he obviously wasn't.
That reaction was literally everything I hoped it would be!
The 'Cait and Vi caught by mum' moment is the best thing ever: "Uh...uh..." And they all leave and Vi's like, "Well, here I am."
"Kicking down door with gun" is also a role usually fulfilled by a father, so I appreciate the role-reversal!
"Does mom approve?" I think people misread Cait's mom, because her public face is prickly and sour, and she resists Cait whenever Cait is doing things that aren't appropriate for a noble house, BUT Cait is always still allowed to do her own thing. If I had to guess I'd say it's because the mom recognizes that certain paths are more difficult, so she makes starting on those paths difficult (to deter Cait from starting them unprepared) but possible. Cait and her mom are both really good at listening to reason and making good judgments, and both change their minds almost immediately when people help them to understand things better. The mom was bitchy about Vi and about Cait's excursion to the underworld, but she gave Cait the chance to explain and ended up supporting them with the council.
Cait is very sweet and charismatic, but at the core I think her mom is the same type of person, just wrapped up in a prudish and prickly exterior with a severe case of resting bitch face. They write the elder Kiraman so we have an instinctive dislike of her, but if you judge her by what she does instead of how she presents herself, she's mostly one of the good guys. I'm sure we all know people like that in real life.
I also think it's cool that in this episode, a lot of the body language Cait's dad uses nurturing her and caring for her wounds is the same as Cait's body language when she was caring for Vi. Cait has a ton of "parent" attributes, both. from her parents, and in the way she reminded Vi of Vi's mom in episode 6, and the way she said the exact thing Vander said (also in episode 6). While Cait tends to see the problems she has with her family seeing her as a misfit, she's actually presented to the viewer as an example of someone with a loving, supportive, and stable home life that just has some minor friction.
This is the problem with most reaction people that make content, they are emotionally reactionary towards characters they like, so the second ANYONE does anything negative towards them, deserving or not, they IMMEDIATELY throw that character under the bus. Cait's parents, given their station, are VERY supportive of her. Her mother is taking on the "traditional" male role of the family by being the one who holds most of the power in the house and is trying to keep her daughter on a path she thinks will most benefit her, but she does genuinely care about her, she's just not always the best at expressing it given her job and her station. The father takes on the "traditional" female role of the family support, usually in Cait's corner regardless of the situation and trying to be a diplomat so to speak. More the emotional center to Cait's mother's more strict and expectant mindset.
Despite this though, they are very caring of their daughter, but of course people being overly emotional in their responses immediately jump to the defense of the character they like by throwing the one attacking them under a bus, and this happens all over the place in Arcane when you have SO MANY CHARACTERS that are multilayered and are not black and white one dimensional characters. I wish more people were willing to see those things and analyze more instead of just being emotionally judgemental at the drop of a hat.
at her core Caitlyn's mother is very similar to her daugther. It was only some seconds, but in ep5 you see her in the flashback not very happy with the upper class gossip there. She feels out of place just like her daughter sulking outside and not enjoying her trophy. She wants to protect her daughter from the fake Piltover society as much as she can "she did everything to keep me from seeing the real world" (ep4). She doesn't like the Piltover society but learned to cope with the game that is played there and does everything to protect the honor of the Kiramman family and their status. That is why she comes of as such a harsh person. She is the head of the family and has a reputation to uphold.
For the season finale, all I'm gonna say is: Come. Prepared. Like, for real. Can't wait to see your reaction to the final episode

I can't tell you how many reactors I've see watching that and saying something stupid like "Run Forrest" and having a laugh at it (and some of them were people who were legit into Viktor's story). That's probably one of the top 2 or 3 most emotionally impactful moments in the WHOLE series! THANK YOU for acknowledging that!
(Also, don't know if someone mentioned it or not, but one of the issues Riot has is that LoL is like 80-90% market-share in China, and as I'm sure you know, Chinese government broadcast distributors are not the most "LGBTQ-friendly"... So, sadly, they have to be careful how much obvious content they include to keep the show from being blocked there. On the plus side, I did read an interview with one of the writers that reminded folks that Vi and Caitlyn arrived in Caitlyn's room at sunrise, and didn't go to the Council meeting until evening, so they spent the WHOLE day together! (And she said that we would find out in Season 2 what happened that day!)).
Anyway, keep up the GREAT reactions! (btw, I feel your soul, as I, too, am a GREAT admirer of the "Art" that is Mel!)

- the doctor guy's name is singed. he's also a character in league, but i don't know much about him other than the fact that he's responsible for the appearance of a character we might see in s2
- mel's mom is named ambessa! it's not visible in the netflix closed captions nor verbally mentioned in the show, but it appears in the credits
- its still a little unclear to me what exactly happened with viktor and sky in that scene, but i believe viktor tried to replicate what he did with his leg, but since he had no shimmer, sky touching him basically acted as the life energy he needed to survive (since the core kills anything it grows if the subject doesnt have something like shimmer to boost that energy, viktor would most likely have died if sky didnt involuntarily sacrifice herself)
- according to one of the writers, between cait breaking vi out in episode 5 and the bed scene in this episode, about 2 days have passed. the devil works fast but the gays work faster
- according to that same writer, caitlyn has quite the experience sneaking girls into her room. her parents are aware of it. (said writer also teased the fact that cait's father, and i quote, "does say she could use some rest, full well knowing there was a girl waiting for her in the bedroom")

To be fair to Singed (creepy doctor guy), he's not necessarily sadistic, and it's more likely that Jinx is imagining his smile, since his face is covered by bandages and his mouth shouldn't be visible. It might not be apparent in the show, but other official art of the guy shows that the bandages wrap over his mouth. He is however, amoral in a very cold, dry mad scientist way though.
Hey can we talk about how these writers, in the course of four episodes and less than twenty-four in-universe hours since Vi and Caitlyn met, made this incredibly intense relationship we were all incredibly invested in?
The thing I love about the shower scene is what they did with Caitlyn's blood mixing with the shower water while she was thinking about Vi. I think it's supposed to be a metaphor for Caitlyn and Vi's relationship, because they're not oil and water, but blood and water: they look very different but their core is the same. Also, I totally didn't expect for the reaction to be uploaded today, but you awesome human, you did it! Two reactions in the same day!?! Love you even more for it :)

I really like the dynamic between Mel and her mother. Mel being unwilling to cross the line into bloodshed but her mother, Historically speaking, is correct in her actions since she heads a warring state. For a revolution to be successful, the previous regime must be wiped out entirely. Not saying she's morally correct but her mindset makes sense for what we know about Noxus.

I saw in an analysis that in the Western culture, when progress is represented it is done starting from the left to the right (for instance, historical chronology). However, even though Viktor's scene running for the first time may be seen as beautiful in a way, he is running from right to the left (the contrary to the way progress is portrayed), which means nothing good for him.

Bonus fact: the direction people use to display progress is based on writing direction. We show timelines from left to right because we write left to write. Languages that are written right to left tend to show timelines from right to left. Languages that write top to bottom (for example traditional Mongolian) tend to show timelines going top to bottom.
Ambessa's Speech in the prologue about 'knowing death' -> Mel doesn't seem as phased by all the death. She's had the same lesson from her own mother already.
I love the dichotomy of Cait's Mom and Dad. Mom carries the more "masculine" role of politician and is the one that breaks the door in, totting a gun. Dad is the more feminine role, running in and hugging Cait, playing "nurse". It's such a fascinating idea that there aren't Gender Roles in Runterra!
As a big fan of reversed gender dynamics, it's always a treat to see stuff like this! Really wish I could appreciate it more often...

As a straight dude who is TERRIBLY attracted to strong assertive women, I absolutely ADORE your reactions. It's everything I'm thinking and feeling, but dear GOD the lack of filter is refreshing. Granted, it took me until episode 6 when Cait was helping an injured Vi and they held a look at each other just a little longer than normal to tell they were hinting at sapphic attraction, but I was totally here for it (again, idk, I just find lesbian romances very relatable because I can see what both partners see in each other).
All of this is to say that I am grateful that you pointed out the "your... friend" line from Cait's mom, because I am positively SHOCKED how many reactors' heads that flies over because they still haven't picked up on the fact that these two ladies love each other romantically. Also, the tender touch from Cait. I cannot tell you how much I relate to Vi there.

One thing you need to take into account is Noxus has VERY DIFFERENT ways you need to conduct yourself compared to Piltover. Noxus is fucking brutal. War is common, and if a leader shows weakness, emotional or otherwise, it's actually completely acceptable that someone can come up behind you, kill you, and that person is simply accepted as the new leader because you showed weakness. Noxus DOES NOT GIVE A FUCK in a lot of cases. Not all of it is truly evil, there are good people that live under this same ideal, but Noxus isn't Piltover and without that idea in place, like many before you, you'll likely misjudge to some extent what is going on there.
Side note: Glad to see you never saw Marcus's worth as a character in the grand scheme of the story compared to his superior in the past and how he tried to live up to her example, while being stuck between a rock and a hard place because of Silco. No character in this show is one dimensional, but to each their own.
Also also: His daughter he was talking about to Silco was likely the lizard he used to make Shimmer with, unless I'm missing something more in depth with his character background.
Also X3: Sky was absorbed into the hexcore as the biological material.
Also X4: You're acting like the Undercity has a ton of options for work and surviving in a horribly polluted city that doesn't have proper protection for it's people and proper living conditions. Is Silco to blame for putting a ton of children to work for shimmer production? Sure. He's not a "Good" man, but it's also the fact that the Undercity is in such a horrible state that many of those people don't have many options, and leaving the city puts new dangers on their backs as well.
Last thing, Silco demanded he save Jinx. She was on the brink of death. The shimmer, despite it's negative things, can help keep you alive by altering you. He warned Silco that "Sometimes death is a mercy..." The problem with the scene of her with the shimmer is it's too difficult to tell what is actually real and what she is hallucinating seeing, even with Singed. The smile he had on his face can't be said that's what he was doing. Is it possible? Yes, but Jinx is hopped up on so much shimmer to save her life that she's not seeing things correctly. Also his mask is ripped when he smiles and it's not ripped AT ANY OTHER MOMENT, possibly signifying what Jinx is seeing isn't real. It's too difficult to make a rash decision on what's going on when Jinx likely can't even tell what is happening truly.
i don't know if u know league characters or not, so i'll just say it like that: it's speculated that singed's daughter is a league character, not rio
Vi has a naturally flirty personality that she uses to get under people's skin, she doesn't put too much stock into it. So despite arguably making the first move by pinning Cait to a wall, Cait's definitely the thirsty one out of the two.

Arcane is tied on 3rd place with futurama with most annie awards won. Only the simpsons and mickey mouse (30 and 21 awards) got more.
The annie awards are the oscars for animated movies and series.
I do think (i dont know it for certain) they are the most successfull in most awards won in one year.

Something I've always wondered with the "Then a real monster showed up" line. A lot of people believe that she's talking about Silco, and I thought this too on my first watch (which one am I on? Probably an unhealthy amount, but I have no regrets), but considering the "I ran away" part of the story, it makes me wonder if she's referring to herself and her anger which caused her to lash out at Powder. Especially after 7 yrs to contemplate that night (partially in solitary) and on top of that, she now knows how deep her comment "Because you're a jinx" went. Once again, Vi was 15, and what exactly IS the best way to react when your sister just accidentally murdered your second family? But, as we all know, Vi takes responsibility for more than she should (Vander, love ya man, but dang what a complex you put on your eldest daughter) so Vi is doing one hell of a job of blaming herself.
This started as just a comment on the "real monster" line and it turned into a small rant. Cudos if any of you read the whole thing!

THIS WHOLE EPISODE WAS JUST WOW! I loved everything about it like first of all Heimerdinger is so cute I feel so bad for him but he got to meet Ekko, and then the whole Cait and Vi scenes are just Gorgeous at 10:40 their reactions and yours when Caitlyn's Mom just kicked the door down with her shotgun like holy cow girl! And at 20:36 this whole moment went from ADORABLE and Gayness to AHHH no, no Thank you why did they do that to Jinx/Powder that was so traumatic (props to the voice actress) but God DANG I just want to give her a hug and tell her that she is loved! And then don't get me started on Mel and her Mom like WOW kind of messed up but also they are hot that's all I got to say, and also the whole rain scene with them is just not okay like no you could at least give us a quick kiss on the cheek, and then the shower scene first of all Cait WOW goals and she is STUNNING but also that whole scene is a Masterpiece but then Jinx at the end first of all don't hurt Cait but also her eyes look so cool and she looks Gorgeous but also VERY scary!! Silco is one of the best antagonists period. Like just period. His motives and emotions are not only understandable but things many people experience in life. :( which makes him quite tragic. Even if he is a mob boss
After episode nine you could make a video with all your Vi and Cait reactions supercut together! I rewatch your episodes all the time! You have all the excitement for the ship that I have! 😁
Shimmer is basically a *very* large combination of drugs that was meant to make Soldiers to fight Topside. After seeing what that did in a temporary state to the boy in ep3 obviously those purposes changed. They had quite an awful lot of shimmer left over so they used it to amplify the effects of other things, they can do good like with the medication for Vi. But due to Jinx's injuries, it was quite literally a do or die situation where most of that medicine is just shimmer to amplify the effects of her healing process. Of course that's what also caused addicts in the undercity, the amplification of the drugs made them addicted so much they didn't care what it would do or mutate their bodies just as long they could get that high. Painkillers don't seem to ever be an option and also the shimmer probably amplified other things in her body and mind such as her hallucinations, anxiety, etc...
Edit: Also Singed, the doctor guy has seen pain and turmoil probably most of his life. It is actually more common than you think as a trauma response to become a sadist. For some reason our brains have evolved to not need to be healthy, (for ex not getting addicted) but to just feel good.
when Vi shows up with the gauntlets you said the gloves matched her. In the game (League of legends) her weapon is precisely the gauntlets! so who knows about the game's Lore has been waiting for this moment since episode 4, when Jayce and Viktor showed Heim the gauntlets

I just wanna say 😂 I love the reactions. also I've noticed that no matter how many reactions to this show I watch no one ever questions it... and by it I mean the sisters tattoos and why those tattoos were chosen. I mean I have a hunch what they represent but I'm surprised no one else has given it thought. my hunch on that is if you look at the tattoo on vi you see 3 things that hop out at you 1st is 2 keys, 2nd gears and mechanics, and 3rd little puff clouds similar to Jinx. the keys if you look at them have letters on them M and a C (milo/clagger) then I thought where is Powder in this and I realized the whole tattoo is a powder tattoo after all vi has nothing to do with machines and mechanics right, but who does? Powder. now my intake on powder or jinxs tattoos those blue puff clouds should remind you of something that happened within the show I believe that those tattoos a representation of that flare we all saw her holding. maybe she got them every time she felt the urge to use the flare?

We have to take in consideration that kids in Zaun are seen differently than we do.
Even Vi thinks that kid knew what he got himself into, so that might mean she thinks kids have their responsibilities and their own ideas, imagine what the villains and side characters might think if they main character believes that

There are so many little details in arcane that makes it such an amazing animation. When Mel’s mom decapitates the woman, you can see the light leave her eyes.
Also, I’m almost 100% sure that the woman Mel’s mom killed, is her little boy toy’s sister. He’s definitely plotting revenge.
