Might be my favorite shooter of all time. The music still blows me away. Everything about this game is near perfect. We need a Thunder Force collection!!!
Calm down, I got no problem with playing Call of Duty Ghosts for Xbox 360 on CRT TV, quality isn’t my thing as long I can still see it, but I also like Thunder Force III at the same time too.
The Sega Megadrive was the best console I ever owned. Closely followed by the 360, then the PS2. The switch is great, especially for retro gaming and indies
No, Valis77, Thunder Force III is the original one. Thunder Force AC is an arcade game based on it and then dat SNES turd, Thunder Spirits, which is based on Thunder Force AC.
@@ryzmaker11 I actually just bought AC for the Switch, I wondered what happened to the Hydra stage music, I prefer the original Genesis version! (music wise) Obviously the arcade is better at graphics and voice.
I like Thunder Force 3. I'd beaten that game before. At 4:15 the shield displays alternately on top and bottom of the ship per frame when Mega Drive is connected to an old CRT TV creating a flickering effect. That's the way to produce a transparent image due to the limitation of the processor at the time. RUclips can't replicate the flickering effect so you only see either the top or bottom of the shield.
In games like Tiny Toon or Steel Empire the flickering objects are not recorded through emulator, as well. Flickering hare or flickering image of zeppelin does not appear on screen.
Transparence is a built-in feature in sega genesis but it must be set to operate colors in this mode...when it is not programming tricks must be made...Vectorman, Steel Empire, Castlevania were made in true transparence mode which also is able to ouput 181 colors at screen and not only 64 as usual
i just finish this game and i really need some help from the game genie needed at least unlimited continues, great game you have to be careful nor to hit the walls! 10 out of 10 highly recommended for a 16 bit game!!!
I have not beaten this game yet but my only problem is the controls they feel slippery for lack of a better word oh wait I forgot to mention another one of my problems this game is way to trial and error heavy with enemies coming out of nowhere I guess I do have some serious problems with this game never mind 💀
Great game for its time good sound track and really satisfying to complete as it's very hard. Fantasy Zone and Bio Hazard battle worth checking out if you like this.
I'm finding it tough too. I'm trying to do it because I'm fairly new to shmups and most people recommend going for this one as your first 1cc because it's one of the easiest ones. If this is one of the easiest shmups to 1cc, then it just goes to show how insanely hard shmups are compared to other genres!
Those mines on seiren are ridiculous. I guess muliple specific hits with hunter diffuses them though. This game is reasonably challengeing, and its quite a rush to dodge all the traps and wipe out the boss.
There's numerous amounts of audio and visual hiccups in this playthrough, it looks like it was recorded with an outdated emulator, like GENS or something.
this game is really bad compared to the original "over horizon" in which the company based this piece of crap. Original had better music and better gameplay

Thunderforce 3, Raiden 3, and Gradius 5 are my all time favorite shmups...Loved the soundtrack of TF3 the most.
Everyone's arguing about how COD Ghosts isn't 1080p on the Xbox One... And I'm just sitting here playing Thunder Force 3
I was just playing this just now on my sega genesis
daminmancejin Ok dude, we get it. You were just playing this just now on your Sega Genesis. Chill out.

this comment is a time capsule of times long gone

The Best game ever of THUNDER FORCE 3 SERIES.
oh my god......it's been 30 years......when I was a little boy!!! still love the music!!!
Now this is the masterpiece. Gotta love Technosoft, they created magic on the Genesis.
Absolute CLASSIC, a masterpiece 👌
My favorite Genesis game... fall '90, just started 10th grade. Wow. The memories.
You're old.
Naw you a vet
One of the best game ever
Zelda tears of the kingdom would like to have a word with you
Used to be my favorite game when I was a child :)
yep! When I was at junior high back in 2000 and 2001!
Wow, looks great! Thanks for bringing this game to the attention.
Please take a sit and watch one of the best shooters of our era.
TF 3 Haides , TF 4 Intro plus the Desert Strike Intro are simply the greatest soundtrack stuff that are worthy of a metal cover.
TF3 has some of the best tunes the Genesis has to offer.
Primeiro jogo do mega que zerei, muito boa a trilha sonora... foi muito daora quando descobri que dava pra mexer a mão e o olho no final
Essa relíquia não enjoa man, é uma daquelas franquias q fica no coração msm ;-;
The best shoot ever.
Playing this game a a a six-year-old was a borderline psychedelic experience that I'll never forget.

+Pizzapiezero
TONS of slowdowns; lower resolution graphics; bad sound FX; etc etc. = a turd in comparison to Thunder Force III or Thunder Force AC ;)
@@ryzmaker11 I actually just bought AC for the Switch, I wondered what happened to the Hydra stage music, I prefer the original Genesis version! (music wise) Obviously the arcade is better at graphics and voice.
Not a mega drive game version. But one of the all time best shooters and soundtracks in the 16 bit era. HANDS DOWN.
On this channel, Mega Drive / Genesis is always called Mega Drive (but Famicom / NES is always called NES). Why...? No idea...
@@RWL2012 because that is what they are called in the UK?
@@shmoostead5419no the nes is called the Famicom in Japan and this guy thought he would stick to the Japan names 🤓
Wow do I miss this great game and want it on a modern console!!! This does help though to relive it again!
nostalgic game !!!! awesome soundtrack I love the music since I first played it
I used to connect hifi speakers to my tv, what a sound then 😃

well if you play on fusion emulator you can see the flicker.
In games like Tiny Toon or Steel Empire the flickering objects are not recorded through emulator, as well. Flickering hare or flickering image of zeppelin does not appear on screen.
bobskie321 now that RUclips supports 60FPS, any TFIII videos uploaded should be able to properly show flicker now.

The Genesis SE always make me feel like my computer is having an aneurysm but I wouldn't have it any other way.
Best video game music ever.
@ValisHD no prob cubex55 is the best channel of them all in my opinion give my regards to the whole team
awesome music and game, the best of saga
I was just playing this just now on my sega genesis
I agree 100% with you, I love this game music and gameplay. For me it is the best thunder force from all systems
It's not a port of the arcade. Thunder Force III was a MD original, and it's such a awesome game that got a arcade port:Thunder Force AC.
Special thx to Toshiharu Yamanishi. The best 16bits soundtrack.
A masterwork ....today.
The first non top down view game which is an improvement over the first but is still simple compared to what IV will offer.
Used to love the intro on this game
The best genesis music of all
😶 one of my favorite Genesee game of all time!!!👊👊👊

Um dos melhores jogos de nave do mega drive sensacional mesmo
i always love the soundtrack
J Santiago true, even today’s games don’t seem to really take you into the game like this music does, especially the ice level
OMG nostalgic!!!

It's a hard game but once you learn the enemy fire paths and movement and timing of the enemies its a lot easier
This game is the best genesis shoter.

Yo tengo este juego de megadrive. Está en caja original. Un gran juego!!!!

Stage 4 & 5 is completely different from the AC version 4 your in Space & 5 your in a inside area.
Nostalgia aqui em 2023
@ValisHD actually i think you did a really good job
OK, I must have mistaken this for another game, cool soundtrack it had.
I could 1 life clear this on MANIA in the 90s. Doubt I could do it in one credit now!
wow
A different player & very smart
Just beat this great game 8.1/10 in terms of difficulty and an 8.9/10 in terms of quality better than Thunder Force II
Sega Genesis version of thunder force 3 blew supernes version away!!!

You Can Open & Close the Eye , Press Button b in the End Credits Scene, One of My Favorites Games Genesis, My Cardridge are Megadrive
Thx for that, man!
Thunder force III!!!!!!!!! ^_^
It really wasn’t until the next game that this series started to actually LOOK good.
Impressive longplay. On what device do you play/capture ?
Well since this video came out 12 years ago most likely a emulator and computer recording software
i love this game! some weeks ago i've beaten the world-highscore of it for the third time
The sound isn't as screechy in this. Emulator with improved FM synthesis resolution?
The sound is awful here. Must be an emulator :(
Sever makes the bosses look like chumps.
this game is hard
love this game
bump for Thunder Force 4!!!!
Wait.. tf3? time to troll team fortress players!
in my memory, there was more to it! ; - )

good shit bro
Was there ever a Thunder Force One?
Thunderforce I was made in 1983
Yes, but only came out in Japan for Sharp X1, Sharp MZ-1500, NEC PC-6001, NEC PC-8801, FM-7 and NEC PC-9801.
And it was a piece of crap
@@masterlee1988 Shame we didn't get a console port nor in a compilation.

Mode 7 before Mode 7?
+ShadowPuppyVA no way it has nothing to do with snes mode 7, this is normal sprite scaling (although smooth)
That ain’t snes mode 7.
Genesis can do sprite scaling, unlike the SNES without the SuperFX 2.
Too sharp for Mode 7. SNES had to blurry it.
Did this game have a two player option?
FunkMastaMegaFlex no
But 4 did
