Before I didn't really like the screams and just listened to this mainly because of the instrumentals and Tim's vocals, but now after having heard this song a few tenfold times I've really grown to like the screams as well, they feel almost like the cherry on the top. This genuine masterpiece truly is peak music for me.
I agree, I just retried it over and over on osu, not caring about my hand, just wanted to hear the instrumentals syncing ever so perfectly with the singing.
This song really screams to me the importance of being good to the world and leaving behind a positive legacy. The Tempest, to me, is the world itself because existence is utterly chaotic, and the memories we give people and the children we leave behind are the ones who will continue to shape the world after we are gone. Thus, they are the Painters. If I had to pick any one band that I listen to to call fine art, it would be Ne Obliviscaris. Their music isn't just good; it's important.
for me it was movement ii cynosure. The feeling of calm and tranquility throughout is just so soothing, and the solo kills it. Then the transition into movement iii and movement iii itself is just as good
That ending feels like the very definition of the word radiance. Not only is it the first vocal of the ending, but the moment the riff together with the violin kicks in, it kind of feels like the birth of a new Light, a Light of Hope, that illuminates the darkness and lights a way toward the Future. Together with the Lyrics and especially the delivery of those, i think it forms a great and beautiful message more relevant now than ever, with this song being primarly about/against war. At least that's how i interpred it.
@@ActaNova you think slider streams are generic. That shit is hard asf to hit. Also honesty is still a decent map. Just because something is played a lot doesn't make it worse saying that makes you sound like an edgy teenage boy.
words cant describe how much i love the final 2 minutes of this song. its just a perfect sound that no other song could compete with. an utter masterpiece.
This is probably one of the best song to have ever been produced of any genre. If everyone of earth wore to listen to this song our musical standards would be way higher.
Painters of the Tempest and The Sun The Moon The Star are two of my favorite songs. No matter how my taste changes, both of these songs eternally remain good to me.
7:21 to 10:33 is the part people who dont like Black Metal, Death Metal, etc. listen to this for. So melodic. But it doesnt feel right without the dynamic of the screaming.
After listening to every signe NeO's song (including crowdfunding albums) I can say that "Painters of the Tempest (Part II): Triptych Lux" is the best piece of metal music I've ever heard. Each part is perfect by itself but together they merge into something breathtaking. The ending is probably the most epic ending to a song I've ever heared. I know that "And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscopeit" got added to the Sydney Conservatorium Music Studies curriculum, I'm surprised "Triptych Lux" wasn't.
Try Iapetus - I contain multitudes (same drummer) and see how it compares. Not saying it's better, just saying it's awesome on an, at least, similar tier.
Production is good on this. Doesn't sound like over distorted shit recorded in a sewer pipe and someone with actual skill mixed this properly. Ass production makes for ass albums, and I don't care if it's supposed to be all raw and rough, no you just couldnt be bothered to record stuff properly. This is excellent.
production is a super key component in how i judge an album. This album definitely has a wonderful mix. There are some things that I would change, but overall its definitely amazing.
As great as the production is, if the composition was ass so would be this song. Many top 40 have amazing production, and many innovating songs have piss poor production. Music loses meaning if it's all based on how "perfect" it is, sometimes the imperfections give it something more...
This has the best guitar soloing and it grips you throughout the whole track and gets into this climax and never let's up. Violin is excellent and tasteful and it's a matter of listening to the whole song, that's the key.
for some reason, ne obliviscaris songs remind me of bleach, its an anime with many violin soundtracks which have some similarities with these songs, they both have a dark and acrid melancholic theme... beautiful...
If we're talking about 20 min songs, I still prefer Echoes, Shine On and Dogs, but it's a totally different style so I'm sure if comparing them directly makes sense. Painters Of The Tempest is great, but it's more a random compilation of great musical ideas, I don't really see it as a coherent piece of music. I swear I needed at least 20 full listens to begin having the map of the song structure in my head.
Idk if anyone will read this; but i used to listen to it a lot during tougher times. Haven't listened to it in a while now. On MD and kinda high and this is such a good experience re hearing it holy fuck, it's been just 3 minutes so far and this is GREAT. love this song dude
