I know the Bear tried to keep it going, and who can blame him. Canned Heat was a special band. But it was Alans voice, songs, swagger and style of guitar playing that contributed to their unique style… Long live the Owl!
Special guest was Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown who sang “Please Mr. Nixon”; he also played guitar, fiddle, and harmonica. He was awesome, but the 1973 footage was badly edited, apparently with a chainsaw.
Special treat to see Clarence here! I saw him live at Atlanta Underground around '91 and then a Nashville club in '92 with my future wife.Very talented and pure entertainment.
I know a guy who was a guitarist later for canned heat. Not in this video. I never knew canned heat. They were a few years before my time. Now that I’m older and tracked this down, I gotta say, damn, these guys were really really good. Some serious blues. They can sing. I’m feeling the warmth of that canned heat.
Alan "blind owl" Wilson was the reason for so much blues sounding out through canned heat. i could try and qoute the singer, Bob "bear" Hite for saying of blind owl "with genius it's often they are brilliant in one thing while also ignoring everything else." or words to that effect. blind owl lived the blues pretty much from the moment he first heard it. i reckon today we'd have diagnosed him as autistic, filled him full of chemicals and then who knows maybe he would never have picked up an instrument. the great John Lee Hooker who was known for playing as fast as he could, deliberately to leave other musicians behind him once said that blind owl was the only player he ever met who could keep up with him on harmonica. of course this was all back in the late sixties/early seventies but even today harmonica players struggle to imitate him until we figure out he used to retune the four draw hole. harmonica customising usually stopped at swapping out the nails for screws making them easier to clean before that. genius, gone far too soon if not for knowing a little of the pain he was in... rest well in Peace Brother blind owl and Thank You.

To me, Canned Heat will always be the Blind Owl and The Bear and The Sunflower and The Mole and Fito. It's not the same for me outside of that lineup. A good blues band with some talented members passing through, Walter Trout comes to mind and he really is a phenomenal guitar player well worth checking out. But I love the magic of the 5 guys that made Boogie With Canned Heat
Not sure if this is you cutting from the original live scenes, but I highly recommend you post the original cut without interruption. The live cut should be posted for all to enjoy without cutting away from the footage. Please show the footage in it's entirety.
Brian Newell, My name Is Brian also, YOU WIN, You are the only person to get it correct. Thanks Old FC-2, U. S Navy. What DO YOU WIN? Well My thanks for replying, as I used to say to the young navy sailors [Back in my time] Have a FINE NAVY DAY. I used to think that was an Insult. Not anymore, FC-2.

My old friend, Richard Hite, on bass. I knew him in Memphis. RIP.
I hope people that were there realize what an impact this brilliant
music has.

Yes but Alan was struggling mentally before he passed and I’m glad bob hite kept his spirit alive
Bob formed the and, too, his kind of performing was unique.

No one ever mentions that Alan Wilson was the second one to go in the 27 club right after Brian Jones. R.I.P Jines and Wilson 🙏🙏🙏
🌻🌞SO GRATEFUL FOR THIS🌞🌻PEACE AND BLESSINGS TO YOU🌻🌞
Quel moment fabuleux ce concert, toute ma vie je m'en souviendrai, merci Montreux!

Not the Canned Heat I discovered on Sirius radio years ago, this is a Blues Band with new members 😂
Larry "Mole" Taylor - bassist - died 2019, August 19th at 77.
Best of caned heat
super voice!
Fantastic - shame the video keeps jumping about - why is that?
Edited with a chainsaw was mentioned by another commenter.

@@BlindArthurBlake I have to agree..This Canned Heat to me us nothing more than a Bob Hiite cover band.
Original. Members so far from a cover band.
Alan Wilson byl. SUper
Baddest white boys who ever sung the blues!!!
What's with the jumps?
En que canal pasaron un documental de esta banda?? Tremendo!! Me acuerdo que los vi cuando tenía 12 en la tv

I've heard of a record skipping-- but video?? haha
Damn Fito de la Parra is cutting up in the drums.
Totally underrated drummer in rock history
Don Fito de la Parra.
Wtf? This was an incredible show and you cut them all
yeah, some balls, huh??
Its youtube that did it
why should them... Uploaded so
Miles Davis played on that same stage in 1973. Henry could play blues, rock and "funk" better than Pete Cosey (Miles' guitar player).
Simply Fantástic 🎼🎶🎸😎👊
Too bad Henry was a Klansmen
The second unknown song is “The Night Time Is The Right Time”.
мне 27 одналюб гитара мотоцыклист сам по себе не раб уважаю америку
Henry Vestine was a god !! 😃
30:00 🔥
есть душа
some of the best parts of this footage are cut away :(
Bliss
No blind owl. No canned heat. 😞
I looked forever until i would see a blind owl comment but for real blind owl was the best
Agree man..
You are right!
Yes! But at least the Bear was there!
Alan Wilson was my hero. He is still missed today
Listning to the song of the gospel church band evry body can,t teach to get they owne band 😂❤

Cuando Daniel Arizmendi "El mocha orejas" era baterista
Sounds great, but without the owl is not the same.
Correct
Give them credit for keeping the music alive after Alan’s unexpected death.
You cut this with a machete?
4:09
Why is this super edited a lot cut out
The fuck with all this cutting
Glitchy.
Can Anyone Expain to The World what Canned Heat IS???
Heat in a can!
The use of Sterno to get high. Sterno comes in a can.

Yeah, if you look up “Sterno Canned Heat” it’ll show a can that literally just says “Canned Heat”. Pretty neat.

Who is the colored guest musician?
The legendary Clarence Gatemouth Brown! Do you a favor and look for more. ❤
DAM MUSIC HAS SUNK to PUTRIDNESS !! THIS is STRAIGHT UP IN YOUR FACE NO BULL SHIT MUSIC !!
Great live, bad copy.
Gatemouth Brown acting like a clown
I do not like that picture of bear
Shame in a way that these guys were musicians and not programmers, and then we'd have something else other than Facefuck
Schade, es ruckelt ... 😢
Una poronga como salta el audio y el video.
Una falta de respeto a la banda.
No Alan Wilson, No Canned heat 😢
I had to stop . at 1 minute it was just a dead carcus coming back alive. It smells so bad that the. Buzzerds from hinkley and garrettsville ohio dont wamt to smell it. And thats bad
This is not the original canned heat and not as good.
Without Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson there is not Canned Heat!
It’s like AC/DC without Bon Scott, a completely different band .
