I plant corn for cover and food for the deer. I have 1 acre of white clover i maintain all summer. I added 1/2 acre of crimson clover this fall. The biggest expense is the 50lb bag of round up ready corn at almost 300.00 a bag. I used 2 bags of corn which equates to roughly 5 acres. Then the glysophate weeed killer and fertlizers.. I truly enjoy it and do it all for my kids .
I added some crimson clover in with the oats, we'll see if it makes it through the northwest PA winter. We got lucky and got a leftover bag of RR corn, so the price wasn't too bad. Do your 5 acres of corn make it through the winter? I'm hoping 3 arces will be enough for me. I love hearing from others who are as passionate as I am about food plots. Thanks for watching!!
Maybe try throwing some pumpkin seed out there next spring! The deer eat the heck out of my leftover pumpkins and have watched them paw at them to bust them open ( maybe to make pumpkin spiced lattes I guess! 😂😂
It was hunted hard all year, and the deer were pressured right out of the gate, so they were only there after dark. But they still showed up. Oh man, I bet Kurt and I have thousands in it. The triaxle load of lime was $800 or so (20 ish ton). The fertilizer was around $1000, and that wasn't even near the recommended amount. The fence was probably 5 or $600. The seed and herbicides were probably another $400 or more. We also bought a ton of equipment, but we won't have that expense next year. Same with the fence. We were careful about taking it down, so it was good for next year. It was a LOT of money, but I have a blast food plotting and spending time with cousin Kurt. I literally have no other hobby, so I don't feel too bad about spending the money on food plots haha 😅
Clover 💯 man that's great 👍
Yes sir! Thanks!

@Johnsplots Yes it makes it through but I don't have that many deer. It feeds a large number of Turkeys .

Yup, we are going to try to plant pumpkins next year!!
Lol maybe so!
Do you hunt over your plots?
What do you estimate the cost for the year? You did a lot of planting
