I'm starting my first day of community college Wednesday of next week! I really appreciate this video (: I work full time so I figured it's going to be rough getting really involved with the college such as clubs, sports, events, etc.
It really disappoints me because in high school, I didnt have much of the school spirit and now I'm the exact opposite (except I haven't started yet)

I have BSc and MSc (going for a second MSc), yet hooked to the videos about how US education works. At least Community Colleges have textbooks, during my MSc we didn't use any, only .ppt and lecture notes :) So I sort of attended CC, which is less demanding.

Collage degree on its own is a waste of time. Invest money and time wisely. Learn how a credit card works. Become financial aware, learn about health, learn how to create meaningful relationships with people, learn how to set boundaries. According to study 52 percent of collage graduates don't use there degree for there current career. Also 60 percent of collage students are suffering from mental illness. Learn a trade and develop a skillset. Apprenticeships, internships, externships. Experience is king!

So I plan to go to a community college for my 2-3 years. while working and saving money for when I go to a university so it's easier to pay. how do you know which classes to take so when you transfer, you can be able to just take the classes you need for the major that you want to take?? is it possible to take those classes in cc??

Hello, I'm really only familiar with the transfer process in California. I would recommend talking to a college counselor at your high school or setting up a counseling appointment the the community college you would like to attend. They will be the most knowledgeable about what steps you should take.

I think in your case you should explore the career that may interest you. And see how you can get that career (aka- does it require an associate, bachelor, master, etc). What institutions offer that career, the difficulty in the field, the requirement in getting in the field, etc.
Networking can also help- especially if your teacher, parents, etc can offer you to shadow an individual of your desired career. :) Shadowing is like a mini-tour guide of the career you are interested in.
Then when you enter high school and your intuitions offer college credit courses, AP class, or IB course. Then give them a try to start off your credit. Though I do recommend to take some college courses when that's available for you. ^ _ ^
Just take your time since you have a long way to go. Just remain open to the opportunity of your future and I'm sure you will know which college will suit your career. c:
      Good luck Xaimond. c:

Community colleges should be privatized, they are losing customers to online private self-education? Since 2010 California CC's have declining enrollment, without taxpayer money many would be bankrupt if not all. Same for the UC/CSU system not sure how they will adjust when the U.S dollar in decline. CC's serve a mix of students-
    -Remedial classes
    -4 year transfer
    -Vocational
-Lifelong learners example retired people, people taking classes for fun (no degree, certifications) Wonder if there are examples of private sector community colleges?...
