His acting is so good that, in spite of the solo sketch within a sketch, we are still lost in the tragic world of that poor, flawed character.

It’s because there was an original tv series of Armstrong and Miller with recurring characters in the episodes. This is a compilation, originally you’d only get to see one a week along with a lot of other regular or one off sketches.

Checking if there's enough space to comfortably reach back and hit whoever is in the backseat. Probably the kids.
I wondered about it for a couple of minutes as well. I think it's meant to invoke the same motion as practice swings you do with an axe before you split the wood.

you know whats fucked, i used to work with a guy like this. he didnt give it the full beans like miller did here but you could DEFAINTLY see what was on his mind.

Brilliant sketches but this compilation has re-edited them, basically butchering the timing. The originals are so much funnier.
