- Hey guys! Join me as I explore a road cut just above the Missouri/Arkansas border and I look for calcite crystals for my very first time.
A big shout out to my friend Scott who did a little prospecting at this location and told me about it. Thanks again for telling me about this spot so I can go explore and try something new. Also, Scott uploaded his own video about this location with even more info, which you can find here: • Exposing Large Pocket ...
Some of my crystals have some damage, as I am pretty new to hard rock mining and am kind of a bull in a China shop, as they say. Still, I had a lot of fun and got some great pieces. I'll definitely check this place out again sometime soon!
Thanks so much for the support, and God bless!

Awesome finds in that spot, Joe! The area to the north of there isn’t fractured quite as much. So much harder to work with. The cube formations are so cool looking! 😍
I've worked on the same spot north and next time I'm bringing a bigger hammer. it's not playing. but did get some good stuff lots of rainbows.
That piece with the mountain range is my favorite.😊😮
Amazing video!! I love calcite my friend!!
Thanks for sharing!!
Good day..thats amazing indeed..I have lots in here in my place..even tons. ..
Great spot 👍🏼 I love how many different forms calcite crystals take. I rarely find the cubes here. Mostly dogtooth where I’m at
I found a handful of the dogtooth ones, but I didn't really include them in the video. I think it's neat how they can form in different ways too! I always think of the Borg from Star Trek when I see the cubes. Ha!
Great finds Joe! I’ll have to check out those road cuts sometime.
I hunt for calsite crystals quite often, and I have found a boat load of really nice pieces. Once you know what you're looking for, they pop out like golden eggs.😊😊😊
I have some that are almost seen through. I have some that are blue on the inside. I have some that are the size of grapefruits, baseball, and golf balls.😊
Love calcites❤ nice pieces❤
Thanks! I’ve been thinking of going back soon and making an updated video. I might do that over the next few weeks…
@@joedadbod8450 i hope your find more nice calcites.
I have many kg. I will sell
hay Joe I have stopped a few times in these road cuts on my way visit family in Missouri but I've only look on the face and have not look at the sides. I'm happy to see some awesome peaces coming out of them. know I'm excited to look again this video have gave me some good information thank you. love your work.
Thanks, Tony!! I am thinking of trying it again in the next few days. I left a nice pocket there and I want to see if it's still there or not and bring a few better tools with me for extracting some of those deeper pockets.
That first half of this video is from a road cut on the northbound side, and the southbound side is towards the end. I got better color and big crystals on the southbound side, but parking was easier/safer on the northbound side (at this particular spot, that is).
Dude! That was some amazing Calcite find 😍 The sound the rocks make while falling down was so amazing🤩Great day for you!
great finds!
Wow, those are awesome, I learned a lot about crystals, from the crystal collector , Bryan Major,on the RUclips channel, I've found over 3 hundred lbs of crystals, but those has me beat
Thanks!!
I've learned a lot from Bryan's channel as well. A lot of great content on there! Also, several other rockhounders who have channels have helped, and even meeting people in person, and especially me just getting in and doing it, messing up, then doing it better afterwards. Experience is often the best teacher. Someone can tell or show me something, but when I try to do it, then it seems like the lightbulb clicks for me a little better. Like it's an "Ah-ha!" kind of moment.
That's one of the reasons why I wanted to start up my own channel, to show that if someone like me can do it, whoever watches certainly can too. 👍🏻
Nice specimens
Thanks so much! This was an exploratory trip so it took me a minute to figure out what I was doing. I think I have a better idea as to what to do for the next time I am able to make it over there.
Very Kool
Hi joe catcite are lot here in the philipines cam you buy it?
What is that exact location I am going there now
Hello, Donnie! This is one of the road cuts off of 49 about 3 miles north of the Arkansas and Missouri border. I tried both the northbound and the southbound sides, directly across from each other on both sides of the highway.
There are several road cuts to choose from there, and they should all have similar material with the calcite.
The brown is supposed to glow under a UV light, btw.
@@joedadbod8450 Awesome, thanks Joe! The next time you are out that way. Can you drop that location coordinates? I don’t want to miss it
@@joedadbod8450 I’ll check it out, thanks again!
