Woohoo go the bros! Great choice M Grew up with Phil and the bluesy rock down at the local watering holes of my home town. Tommy is a legend and to me so is the Late Great Phil. Very cool!😎 😎 😎 😎 ❤❤❤❤ Yo for the bros
The playing is phenomenal but what I like most is the fun these two have playing together. There has never been an act to match these two. Thanks for the reaction. I loved it.
I Phil and Tommy in 1984 for the first time at the Green Gate Hotel, Killara Sydney with about 80 people squished in a room and was blown away as I had never heard of them. I was so blown away I even told my Mum about these wicked brothers I had seen doing guitar tricks/stunts/acrobatics for about 5 - 10 minutes of unbelievable hilarity and fun. You name it, they played upside down, upside down left handed, each others, etc etc etc so many stunts you wouldn't even think of. They were having the best time and so was the crowd. Never forget that night, thanks Phil and Tommy. ❤❤ One for each of you.
So sad Phil passed away. In 1983 I met him at Bankstown NSW Australia one evening, when him and Tommy were playing to a crowd of about 100. It was after tommy was playing in the Bushwackers. Phil was a quietly spoken courteous and gentle man.
They taught themselves to play, listening to the radio. They only had guitars, and didn't realize that they were hearing multi instruments. So they learnt to play that sound on a guitar.he was in john Farnham's band in the early days, and did a few guest spots.
Sooo good! RIP Phil Emmanuel taken too soon. Be sure to watch them doing Mozart together. Also, Tommy wrote the most beautiful song for his brother after he passed away. ❤❤

I believe you’re thinking of Rick Derringer’s “Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo” but apparently they’re actually playing AC/DC’s “Riff Raff” (Bon Scott version) which is a nod to Derringer’s song.
Saw this amazing duo in the Dee Why hotel Sydney Australia (the old one) must be almost forty years ago. So sad that Tommy lost his amazing brother Phil. Gone way too soon.
The Emmanuel brothers were on the must see list of rock players at the Dee Why pub in particular in the early 1970's. The whole concert was nothing to do with an album based set of songs. It was literally just the two of these guitar gods finding new ways to find areas of guitar playing that are impossible for your average player changing light globes. There is a famous video of Phil at a mates place, probably half pissed, being asked to rattle off song after song on the guitar. From memory, the guy asking got past 30 or so songs before giving up. Phil was an undiscovered country on rock guitar who died before his time. Tommy migrated to acoustic guitar which is cool but he is also a stunning electric player as well. Tommy loved his brother very much as you can well imagine. But both brothers had problems with heroin for a long time. Phil died because of it and Tommy nearly came apart because of it but somehow found the resilience to get past that Phil never did. Everyone knew this. I was common knowledge that part of the motivation for the Emmanuel Brothers gigs was for Tommy to give Phil an outlet o steer him away from the drug culture of the day that ultimately killed Phil and that Tommy just survived. In the 1970's, there was tons of hooch and hash around , tons of speed and coke and , and lots of heroin. The brothers weren't alone of course among musicians into the "scene".
No excuse you havent seen Tommy live. It seems like he has been touring constantly for over 30 years. I think he is or was touring in Europe recently with a younger genuis named Dawes...... Dawes opens the concert, then Tommy does his thing and then Dawes joins him for a big double act finnish......well worth seeing and probably hearing, too.
I’ve only known who Tommy is for a decade or so and every time he has come to town (twice) I’ve been gigging the same night. Hopefully next time!! I’ve done a reaction to Tommy and Dawes together. Amazing. 🍻
@@michaelgoyettemusic Sometimes we just have to try harder. Was having a coffee one morning with a couple of mates......on the spot they jumped in a taxi and travelled from Melbourne to Adelaide to watch their team lose again. Had to be over over 500 klm one way. I would fly from Qld to Perth to see the Pulse concert live, about a 5 hour flight or flights. I know Tommy does big and small venues often not that far apart, and sometimes 2 performances a night. lol
i sat with the pair of them early eighties they where special guests for the Bushwacker's at Greenfields tavern last time i saw and talked to Phil was late 1990's or early 2000's in Mossman Far North Queensland playing at the Exchange hotel. Yo
When he was 8 he was performing with his brothers & sisters touring across australia.. So his brother Phil & he had this connection like Stevie & Jimmie Vaughn.. These moments were never really planned Tommy would have a general idea & they would just freestyle it from there. Not bad for a man who can't read or write music don't you think?

Sad indeed. But what a memory to have!

I was in my teens when I saw Tommy play live - breath taking! He and Phil were really close as far as I understand it - an awesome bond

That’s exactly what I was thinking minus the AC/DC part. 👍
As an Aussie I thought Acdc right away
So proud of those Boys..

I saw Tommy and Phil once with Goldrush. Tommy was on drums. And he was a good drummer.

Guitar Boogie. Once you've seen it live. OMG
