My wife became unable to walk and the nerve specialist, after nerve conduction tests, was ready to give her a diagnosis of MND. However, she is beginning to recover after discontinuing Crestor.
Omg.. the extras days lived on Crestor is less than a week ??? That is an eye opener. Not worth the side effects I am having. Thank you sir for all this knowledge you passed on to us
I was prescribed statins years ago for a minimal rise in cholesterol but recently found out that I was prescribed because I had a stroke/Tia. One problem……..I’ve never had a stroke!!! In all those years I was never monitored. My Dr is still pushing me to take Rhuvastatin 10:15 , 5mg twice a week even though my cholesterol level is 3.8. I have severe muscular pain which causes me to suffer from vasovagal pain related syncope. I’m unable to walk now and have brain atrophy. I’m furious..
You do know other statins exist right? It’s not the doctors fault you continued to take a medication despite debilitating side effects, you should have worked with your doctor to try another medication
@@dragontile but it is my GP’s fault…….I have not had a medicine review or blood test for 8years as I was missed off the usual list of over 60’s. My practice has apologised and since started doing the usual yearly checks this year. Recent full blood tests have shown I have developed Osteoporosis, very low thyroid levels and a review of my meds have shown contradictions in the meds I have. I also suffer from kidney and muscular issues which are a serious complication of statins. Note that over the past eight years I have been reduced to a mobility scooter……..ALL issues reported and not acted upon!!!
Dr. Ken, I have been on a Ketogenic Diet since the beginning of March while we were in lockdown during the COVID-19 pause. I started doing Keto to lower my blood sugars. Prior to this my blood panels were relatively good. although my LDL was a slight bit elevated. While my GP was not overly concerned, I still researched and began the Keto diet. In 5 mos, I dropped 17lbs. Significant because I have Hypothyroidism. So this was a huge win. Blood panels did reveal ny TSH was significantly high, BUT A1C was T 5.4, BP 115 /84 (avg). My LDL was over 7% and soon the doctor suggested statins. I let her talk me into filling but that is it! Not going to get them. No sir!!!I am taking 3 Flaxseed caps, Garlic tabs and now introduced and old Indian classic, Tumeric. Let's see if this, a combo of walking and exercise, Intermittent Fasting and the Keto Diet can rectify some of this.
Started taking rosuvastatin and developed dyspnea and a weird swallowing issue. I was on it for quite awhile before I realized this started around the same time I started the statin. I've been off it for a month and my breathing has dramatically improved. I have no CVD history in my family, but was given it because I had high LDL cholesterol. I won't even try another statin. I know this is rare, but it made my quality of life very poor.
HELLO DR. My husband took simvastatin for many Years and was a Diabetic. And Passed away 5 years ago from 2 strokes and a Heart attack within 2 weeks in the Hospital.
I am on 5 mg of rosuvastatin...I have taken 3 days now and I am all achy, my vision is blurry and I am dizzy.....My ldl is 146 and I am 62, smoked 10 yrs ago, no heart disease in family. I may get off this crap and do better with my diet...Hope I make it :)
I have been on Crestor for over 30 years. I have extreme high cholesterol I just went off completely and I have to say since it’s not the big money maker anymore. The truth slowly is coming out.
Yes indeed ... The BIG question is: If a patient has bad Calcium score and have clogged up arteries/ bloodvessels, WHAT CAN HE/SHE DO IF HE/SHE IS NOT TAKING STATINS ??? ... to ensure his CardioVascularDisease will not deteriorate?? or to improve his blood vessel health??
Want to add years of good health then stay out of the middle aisles of the grocery store and eat only whole foods while eliminating sugar entirely or at least as close to that as possible. Lot of money in the pills 💰💰💰
I’m watching this after dr want to put me on this drug without checking with a cardiologist for calcification first, says if I start it then it’s for life. No diet or exercise first,,,I’m not overweight, smoker, or drinker.
Why not consult a Cardiologist first ... get the Calcium Score CT and if necessary the CT Scan of the heart done? as well as the NMR Lipoprotein [LDL particle size & count] done also.?

Research Diet & Lifestyle changes see Dr. Esselstyn - ruclips.net/video/ZC3wRx4vV7g/видео.html for an example. Of course I am not a Dr. and any choices I make are my own. Just like anyone else. I realize the frustration believe me.
I agree!! Get your coronary artery calcium score checked, along with ApoB lipoprotein tested which is equally important. That will let you know whether to take a statin or not. For some folks, you can attack this with proper diet and exercise, but if you already have plaque formation in your arteries, a bad CAC Score. It may be necessary to get on a statin asap!! Crestor works the best for me, compared to others.
@@20891 No side effects for me. I take low dose. 5mg a day. Some go as low as 2.5mg a day. Crestor is better than lipitor from what I understand, because it's also an anti-inflammatory.
Does anyone had seizures while on crestor? I was on crestor for about 4 years when I started having seizures. Went to lots of specialists that had some tests done, even a CT scan that came up normal. So the one doctor told me in 2014, that I should stop taking my cholestrol pills. I did and since then I never had a seizures again. Although no doctor could confirm that it was the cholestrol pills that caused the seizures I am seizure free now for 6 years. Would love to know if someone else also had such an experience?
I tried crestor once and my chol rised like crazy in the span of 3 days, then back to atorvastatin and it turned to the lowest point. Can you please explain to me what was happening Doc?
That's weird. My doc put me on 10mg of crestor daily. My cholesterol after just 3 to 4 weeks, dropped from 240 to 172. LDL went from 174 to 113, which is still a little high they say. LDL should be under 99. I'm sure I'll get there if I continue to take it. Just wanna make sure this is safe. So much conflicting information out there. You dont know what to believe. I don't believe anything the FDA says, and most doctor's.🤔
With no side effects? I have heard that everyone on this medication is closely monitored for muscle pain, headaches and dizziness. You must be that percentile not presenting and impact from medication. Extremely rare!
Taking statins will absolutely lower your cholesterol numbers. But what he is saying and what I have found from multiple research studies is that lowering those numbers through statins does not translate into living longer or avoiding g a cardiac episode. To me, there has to be another component to preventing heart disease that the medical community has not yet discovered. Cholesterol, and its iterations, as we know it does not appear to be the killer we have been taught that it is.
It definitely lowers your cholesterol numbers, but that seems to be more important than anything else, but that does not necessarily translate into longevity Statins are the most prescribed medicine in the world, it’s a money making deal, If someone is so concerned with their LDL, then ask your doctor for an advanced lipid test, to dictate whether the particles are small, which are damaging or buoyant, which just basically flows through your system, it has to do with particle size, not how much cholesterol you have Many people do not realize that your body produces 3000 mg of cholesterol every day, they also don’t realize that your brain is made from cholesterol 🤔👍
Stop with the "good cholesterol" "bad cholesterol" crap story. Any doctor that still talks in this way should be avoided. I agree that statins are all BS .
