they need to completely revamp this mode entirely, from scratch.
Yes I'd love that but I doubt they're going to take a year off to do that, which is what they'd need to do. Honestly I wouldn't be mad at them releasing the game without universe mode this year and adding it as dlc and some more updates around the one year mark of the game being out and then not releasing a new game until a year after that. I might be crazy for that but I think that'd be cool

2K is incapable. The best thing modern game devs could pull off is to copy paste entire old games and add better graphics. If they try to build something new it will be shit.

The biggest issue with Universe is they forgot how it’s supposed to work.
Rivalries are supposed to build naturally based on title rankings. In the first iterations you would have #1 contenders matches, alliances being made, triple threats being made WITH cutscenes depending on who’s sitting where. Brand rivals at ppv’s, the draft. Team ups, injuries, returns, character changes.
Overtime it became more about the sandbox, which is fine. But the whole point of universe is to simulate what we see on TV. Whilst I like having the freedom to do whatever I please I DO NOT like that the mode only works if I micro manage every little thing that’s going on.
By the time you reach the first ppv the mode becomes boring and mundane because there’s simply not enough going on without my input. In wwe svr 2011 up until wwe 13 I could play the mode for an in game 3 years and the game would sort enough out to naturally change who’s doing what.
As I said previously the sandbox element is fine but let the game take me on an adventure instead of me having to literally choose what cutscenes gonna happen
On another note. For those struggling with the modern universe there’s 4 really fun ways you can work with it that I’ve found works best for me.
1. Make one show, there’s not enough reason to really have a Raw, Smackdown, NXT etc given that there’s no tools such as a draft or really any reason to spread out your roster. Then put in whoever you want, I usually fill it up with everybody but it is really whatever. Then just play around and see where the mode takes you. With such a big roster it actually resembles more of the past universe with rivalries feeling more natural.
2. Superstar mode is really good. Especially if you wanna just put yourself on the shows. Can enter sandbox to add in AEW and the modern arenas to really go on a journey and you still have enough freedom to decide what you’re gonna be doing. Or if you’d rather keep your personal CAW out of it you could always pick a random member of the roster and work towards whatever goal they have
3. Grab a friend and build your own shows to compete with one another. It’s one me and my buddies loved doing until they added GM MODE which made this concept a little bit redundant. It’s still a good way to enjoy the mode however. Especially since there’s more than 1 Booker in the world which gets quite interesting around survivor series time
4. Do a wtf-verse. With a creation suite as in depth as the WWE games, why not use it to your advantage and create a whole universe mode with your favourite characters from all forms of media. One thing for sure is that you cannot beat a WTF rumble
I tried watching this video and for some reason i cant help but to be annoyed at something in particular.
Ive heavily edited 2k18 universe mode and i found it to be amazing and currently going to edit my 2k24 universe mode... i have yet to hear a complaint that makes sense to be mad about...
Literally the game allows you to manually change everything, there for get your notepad and excel sheet out and make your own algorithm and rank system and just see where the progress goes from there, i even draft manually based on my own standards of wins/losses and rivalries.
Complain about something you are completly UNABLE to do, not something minor like random attires not being available 🤦♂️
Its really not that hard to edit, but people dont know how to be creative with a game that allows you to be creative and think outside the "limitations"
Thank you, this is what the mode was promised to be. What they are doing now is not the universe mode from 12. Now a lot of people enjoy the current universe because they want more of a sandbox or booking mode they can customize. That's fine but that's not what the mode was supposed to be only. It was supposed to have organic feunds, a living and breathing simulation of the WWE. People rising and falling, teams forming and breaking up. Lots of drama that you don't have planned out yourself, the game was going to take you on a never ending adventure. That is what universe needs to get back to.
WWE 2K14 was the universe mode I spent the most amount of time in, especially around 6 - 7 months after the game launched people found a way to "import" image's into the logo creator and would make the most realistic looking creations.
That brings back fun memories
Here’s an idea, I don’t give a fuckin shit about my faction, they asked him why is universe mode the way it is, there’s no cool cutscenes or rivalries making themselves like before and this guy starts talking about you can’t randomize attires. We DO NOT CARE about Random attires. We asked for cutscenes, and rivalries to be refreshed. Add back promos while they at it.

This is spot on I think 2k19 was the last best universe mode ….. random attires show into random events and runs in and even the promos weren’t bad … some of the things in promos actually would carry through the weeks like challenging for belts at the next ppv ect

Even better is in 2k18 and 2k19 you can use Cheat Engine to program the Universe Mode run-ins to also work in multi-person matches, tag matches, title matches, and even rivalries! You can even set up a 6 person ladder match for the title, set Brock as the run in, and when he runs in at some point during the match take control of him yourself and have him beat everybody down before he climbs the ladder and wins the title (or MITB briefcase like he really did in WWE) himself! Those were the FUN days!
Not gonna lie. The original version of universe mode in WWE 12’. It was so much more interactive. I still remember how Brock Lesnar was an end of the match run in.
Oh so that's why they can't fix the glitch where if there's a rivalry cutscene the whole match uses the default ref.
'12 '13 & 2K14 has the best Universe Mode cutscenes and rivalries because they also have the ally and rivalry systems actually worked better... I think one of the things that ruined Universe was the fact that they scrapped having separate rosters, which is because they wanted to emulate TV where everyone was on basically every show, that's also why they removed the draft, but that definitely should've been brought back.
universe mode is more important then my faction so what he said is because of my faction universe mode is breaking easy solutions i see take out my faction and let me buy packs of dlc with 7 character's in it with new moves and do that all year and you will make everyone happy
My faction is the most important mode for them. They constantly make money off of it. Some people spend thousands on my faction stuff they aren’t getting rid of that

Some of the rivalry options just dont work. Period. The mid-match ambushes? Nope. The match just plays out normally.

Nope MITB doesn't do its job either. No teased cash-ins. The royal Rumble winner supposed to feud with the champion for an entire month and they just made it happen thenweek of WM.
There's no show intros,reversals are broken,if you reversal too much the game cuts your reversals off.
Alot of.the moves don't connect as if you slide off of your opponent. It's frustrating.
The have people that are in the same faction feuding with each other smh.
They're still building on top of THQ's spaghetti code. This is why we had 2K20 - they tried to mess around with things that were already falling apart and the house of cards collapsed. The whole thing needs rebuilding from scratch, as does pretty much the entire series, but without taking at least a year off that isn't going to happen.
They tooka year and it did nothing,they stalled an entire year is why we didn't get a 2k21.
They've been building everything off of the broken 2k20 base since 2k20.

I've been saying it for a few years now, they either need to replace it with something else or completely rework it from the ground up. And unfortunately, it doesn't seem likely they will, because people will buy the games regardless because it's the WWE Brand.
2k should have been working on a new universe mode in the 2020-2022 gap. they should have a team making it work with no intention of adding it until its correct. The game is supposed to be a simulation, without the actual simulation of the week to week , month to month, season to season. I appreciate the gameplay improvements, but myfaction is obviously what gets all the attention after gameplay. and no one uses it.

I don't like the stupid pre determined match rivalry scenes. They need a story\universe mode mix.
Put your own scenes in universe, like an actual WWE TV.
Craziest part is that the game is still 89 on play station store , yesterday just got it at Best Buy for 30$ but that game is barely worth 20 $ it’s the same as 23 makes no sense
Hi, totally agree with you. It needs a story creator aspect, or ditch universe mode for one year and give us a story creator instead, and then merge the two later on. I've lived through all the universe modes since the launch of smackdown vs raw, when it had the semblance of a universe mode which was very random and very exciting.
I'd like to add that I've been saying for years. 2k is a game built on a faulty foundation. This has been happening since 2k15. The game is always broken in some way. Or they patch, and it destroys the game. I have not experienced this drastic with any other game I play.
I love the universe mode. They definitely need to revamp it. I seen bugs and promos would go wrong and don't make sense. In the promo. Triple H calls out HBK. HBK enters the ring and Triple H asked him. Why are you out here?
SVR'11 universe mode was superb in retrospective for me. It was simple and cut scenes although limited but still it felt very simple and feuds worked.
Roster changes don’t carry over from the game to this mode or vice versa. That alone is awful.
A rivarly action should have a pathway. Each decision leads into another selection of the rivarly. Not just the same cutscenes over and over with 😂😂 or similar cutscenes but under a different title
My Solution: Switch to a bi-yearly release schedule.
Should give them plenty of time to rework the mode plus make everything else as good as it can be for that year.

Maybe reinstall the roster system. Made sense to get rid of it after the brand split ended, but its a thing again so.
Adding to that, on top of the brand specific roster. A roster category design for floating superstars.
Also rework or remove the divisions system, maybe add a category that allows people to go any title. Like, i get why it got added, some people shouldn't be winning certain titles. Hell, the cpu in my 2k18 universe decided the Usos run Smackdown and let them grab every championship. But it was fun to watch. I want that back. I want the shock of seeing people rise through the ranks proper and reach the pinnacle. The current system just doesn't allow for that unless everyone is in the world title division, and that creates major mismatches.
Previous universe mode on the ps3 had a daft event where a loading screen pops up and someone at random gets drafted to raw or smackdown

The problems actually extend to just trying to play it. If you make any changes whatsoever whilst a match card is active, it completely screws up all the matches for some unknown reason.
To keep things, fresh. I use a mix of UFC and Soccer league divisions. I still use, the 3 shows Raw, Smackdown and NXT. The UFC part, isn't about the weight divisions, but use main-eventers men and women, midcarders men and women, tag as divisions. Like in UFC, ranking, wins/loses matter, they will affect title shots. Like UFC PLEs, only big, important PLEs, will have title matches, while the other minor PLEs are mainly ranked-matches, to go up or down, the ranks in the division. And like Soccer leagues divisions, in the final day of the respective season, you get your champions, but also who gets promoted to an higher division and relegated to a lower division. In regards of Pro-Wrestling, would be Main-eventers relegated to midcarders and midcarders to main-eventers. And who goes from NXT to Raw and Smackdown and vice-versa, functioning like a Draft of sorts.
Every single universe mode I played way too much complete career mode complete showcase and just play universe endlessly. This year i did the usual i try the universe mode and never launch it ever again it's horrible

I was hoping they'd bring back a few things next year or the next but now it just sounds like they need to redo it from scratch.
Maybe I’m in minority but I’m enjoying my mindless fun of 24’s universe. Lack of cutscenes is a hurt, but i make my own rivalries and play it out in my head anyways 💁🏻♂️ good match variety, huge roster, free customization, it’s enjoyable when looking at a LOT of the last releases.
I could paint a collage of critiques when we’re looking at missing wrestlers, item interactions, cutscenes, story mode, the mere INCLUSION of MyFaction, etc…but when I play it for what it is (a video game), I’m having a blast.
Guys you can pick your cut scenes that’s pretty much it feels broken sometimes but they have to leave 2k and figure out something eventually..

Seeing what they did with my career mode in their 2k game and hearing them say they can’t do anything to fix the scheduling issue baffles me. If you saw how complex 2k is and compared it to how dogshit universe is you’d absolutely riot

It's honestly pretty bad in 2k24 too because you can't even do MITB cash ins like how they used to be, you have to do it with a rivalry action, which maybe some people like but I like simplicity as well so maybe have both options available to the player.
Thanks to MyFaction 2K doesn't care about Universe Mode. MyFaction is now what Ultimate team is for EA or "My Team" is to the NBA 2K games, if it doesn't make them money they won't care sadly.
Personally I think they should scrap Universe and add a Sandbox Mode to MyGM where you can just select whatever wrestlers you desire, and have the matches and booking that you desire, and also control multiple brands. You can plop the Universe cutscenes and actions into that too I guess.

I agree. MyGM back in mid 2000's with the 3 brand ratings competition was perfect. It was universe mode and GM mode together. You had a reason to play the mode and build your brand.

My favorite WWE video game was WWE '13. I downloaded a bunch of ROH Wrestlers during around Christmas time. My friend and I would use the ROH Wrestlers not really knowing who was who. It was a pretty big roster. We had a Wrestling match between Kevin Steen and Austin Aries. I Quit match. The match lasted probably an hour. That was the most fun i ever had playing a video game. I also had basically the PWG roster. With like Drew McIntyre and Curt Hawkins from the Indies. I didn't know what was PWG. Or the Wrestlers besides Drew McIntyre and Curt Hawkins. It's kind of funny because my friend and I would complain about the Wrestlers getting up so quickly after a move. This was before Wrestling was like that on TV nowadays. I ended up watching ROH Wrestling on Honorclub with my friend to see the ROH Wrestlers. To figure out who was who. In my opinion the greatest Created Wrestlers of all time were the ROH Wrestlers and PWG Wrestlers created on that game. I saw some ROH on TV. But the Wrestlers online had newer attires. Attires of the Wrestlers I never saw before on TV. Because I didn't have ROH on my TV in my area where I live. I saw ROH originally at my Grandparents house in the Summer of 2012. This was before Honorclub existed. I have a conspiracy theory why Honorclub existed. I think Honorclub existed because Christmas 2012 everyone was selling ROH dvd's for like $2,000 a piece. And not many people could afford it. So ROH made Honorclub because the demand of ROH was so high. That way people could watch ROH online for Christmas. In my opinion WWE is greedy. WWE doesn't care about the Wrestling fans. WWE just wants to overprice their video games and Wrestling action figures. And sell the same Wrestlers like The Rock over and over again. And nobody else. I don't think anything will change. I think WWE will keep using 2k to sell video games until nobody buys them anymore. I honestly don't think WWE will do or change anything you want them to do. It is what it is. Move on. I can't upload recorded video game footage from the Playstation 4 to RUclips anymore. Samsung TV Plus. The free channel doesn't work anymore on my TV. It is what it is. Move on. What can I do? ROH has 80 free PPV's on fite (triller tv). I can watch that. I can control that. I don't know how to get WWE to listen. But AEW does the same thing. They both make overpriced poopy video games that are broken and don't work. And they just want more of your money. Move on. Find something you can control. Focus on something that will work and that you can control. Don't focus on things that you can't control. Leave the WWE video games behind. Leave the AEW video games behind. the bad worker always blames the tool, ww12 universe wasn't as good as ppl say, sorry but when rivalries can't be deleted and they don't happen between the wrestlers a player wants that's not a good thing, wrestlers facing each other every week has been a complaint every game but getting wrestlers in a match every week trying to trigger a rivalry only for it to trigger with other wrestlers on the card somehow doesn't get mentioned when talking about wwe12's universe
That's because WWE 12's was only the second Universe Mode ever in a WWE game. They obviously didn't have everything in the mode, but it had an amazing layout. You could just play through the entire Universe Mode and enjoy it without having to simulate things and it felt like you were watching a real episode of RAW or SmackDown. And, there was unlockables in WWE 12's Universe, which gave it the playability that the current Universe doesn't have.

I hate that you can't turn the title matches off in weekly shows on Universe mode.
They should bring back the promos, the show intro, better rivalry cutscenes WWE2K completely gave up on universe mode after 2K19
They're more concerned with the idiotic myfaction and shoehorning micro's and packs into a game where it belongs even less than 99% of every other game. Greed is killing gaming. The passion has completely gone and capitalism/business always diminishes a product.

So they are like Gamefreak in regards of Pokémon. If they wanted, they could mixed the MyGm Mode and MyUniverse into one. Forget about the Superstar mode, make Universe mode, either be like GM mode or God mode. In God mode, is basically free play, you don't have to worry with money, contracts, venues, etc. While in GM mode, you got micro-manage everything. Thanks to Wrestling Gods, I'm still playing 2k22 Universe mode, is good for Forbidden door type of roster, since most of that roster/Universe mode is currently in AEW. And 2k22, still has the shows and PLE's intros and themes, that helps in the immersion.
I want the announcers to actually say sum when a superstar returns from injury🤦🏿♂️
If they take universe mode out for a year or 2 to start from scratch I'd be fine with that. Gmmode is fun and can hold it's place for a bit

i never played universe mode until 2k24 (still am because ive literally overplayed everything else in the game) i just hate that fact that if u click start a rivalry you just face the same opponent for 4 weeks…no variation…and the lil options they do give you to spice it up gets boring after 2 months.
ALSO, if you choose to spice up a one on one match (regardless of rivalry or not) and its already a special match/title match, clicking rivalry options resets the match and your back to the same basic bullshyt. I only play superstar mode though and from i read classic mode is the same shyt.
Still dont understand why there is no option for online universe mode!!!! Seriously.... one person could be manager etc, and have other ppl as players.

They should really just combine aspects of GM Mode into Universe’s classic mode.
If i remember correctly in WWE12 universe mode you can unlock people through it i believe.. they had like (???) and we didn't know who it was until the match or the cutscene, it was pretty cool no? Also honestly if they just did story designer and made that good! Maybe just maybe it could last a good year are two so they could fix things you know maybe i'm wrong it's just a thought.... It's just a shame honestly..
I think they should get rid of Universe mode and push Superstar mode and transfer some of the cutscenes and rivalry system to MyGM.
I have not gotten a single cutscene in Universe Mode since 2K20 and Universe Mode is all I play. Also why is MITB completely broken in Universe Mode now? You can't cash in on PLE's anymore apparently? Also why is it when I'm putting a match card together if a Title Match features custom attires it completely breaks the match. Also Also WHY DOES UNIVERSE MODE INSIST ON HAVING ROMAN REIGNS VS SANTOS ESCOBAR FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP EVERY WEEK WHEN NEITHER ARE ON THE SAME SHOW OR WWE CHAMPION!

It would be cool if they had it go like real show then stop and have deception making like what to say for promos and then u can skip to the next match
Open world backstage area: promos, interviews, cutscenes happening when you enter the area it’s located in, gym area with sparring arena/exhibition stage. Up up down down mini area with Woods/Breeze, to freely fight/access cutscenes, TV with retro style wrestling/beat’em up games! Promo/interview area/catering/parking lot(lockerooms, wrestlers trailers, triple h/GM office,cinderblocks, dumpsters/elevator/ bricks,stop signs/etc. for weapons and interactive takedowns. Every area is open free to fight/have cutscenes/play minigames/interact with environment/different wrestlers and access menus!
Every year a new wwe game comes out I play the men and woman myrise. Don’t do much on my faction, i beat the showcase, maybe play gm but not really. I go crazy with creating wrestlers I start a universe mode and I’m into it because the ideas in my head that are motivating me and then it gets boring after weeks of it not being good really so I stop playing the game all together till the next one comes out. If my universe could tell a story to keep my interest I would play the game till the new one is out. 🤷🏼♂️
Honestly I can see all the points made and understand where you come from, but I don’t think I agree completely, these are not main problems I see in universe mode
Ive played (im not gonna say bought, since I stopped giving 2k money after buying 2k20 on presale) every WWE game, every year, on released solely for the universe mode and CAWs and the things you asked for feel way more suited for GM mode, such as the call up mechanism you mentioned; if you’re playing universe mode you have the control of all the brands, if you wanna call up bron breakker to raw in your storylines just do it. Universe mode for me feels way more about being the Booker, having control over all the storylines, I don’t think universe mode needs a bunch of random stuff happening with people getting fired or the game itself adding random new champions from simulation, this would be the total opposite of how I feel universe mode was meant to be played, feels like you’re waiting for the game to do everything to you

We also had so many great features back in the day that never came back, such as promo segments, heel and face tracker, breakup/form tag from 2k17, the news tab could be better like you said… we still miss all of these features in 2k24 and honestly if the devs can’t add any of these in the game because it will break the mode, just revamp the whole damn thing and start it from scratch, we already have too many glitches in this mode
I feel like I need universe cause it’s the full control mode, maybe they should do a WWE 12-2K15 version of universe, or make it more like 07 GM mode
I'm going to say a big no to random people from Community Creations some of those creations are horrific
imo either they take another year off to work on 2k25 and give us something great like how they did 22 . or bring us something atleast special and a game that’s actually FIXED without no broken bs . they literally gotta build the universe mode from the ground up atp . i feel as if they’ve been using the same amount of cutscenes and same amount of old bs on top of new bs for years . just bring us some thing fresh
Universe really needs an update, but 2k prefers to work on the cards (my faction), which is the cash cow. So not a surprise.
I would appreciate if you could customize the game more. If they would do, the issue with modding coul go out of the window, because "Vanilla" WWE2k would give you all the option. But as always we onl get some option and the rest is as it is, if you like it or not!
There are fans or different eras. More adults playing the games than 2k thinks, at least those that 2k hasn't completly pissed off. So more customization to make the game be more like the era you prefer would certainly be a HUGE +!
And there are animation that simply doesn't fit. Like For the Undertaker. Sitting on the casket like any default wrestler, after winning the match? And that's just one example!
Certain characters need certain animations!
We always hear that 2k sets priorisation on re-creating the TV experience for the game and that also WWE wants to be it that way. So I wonder why they never pay attentio on such details?

And yes wwe12 is the best universe mode in terms rivalry and cut scenes.

Universe Mode is still ok in 2K23. The year they change it too much or remove it the game will not be worth any money. It´s the only good game mode they have because it´s made by older devs who cared about fun.

They made gm mode worse too in 2k24 I didn't even finished it this year after I was done with male career and showcase I played some matches from my universe mode now I have 0 attractions towards this game it's just wasting my space for no reason now
One thing I'd do is just make the "calender" an actual calender. If you've ever had a guy hold a title for a "year" you know it's only really like 323 days or something because there really is no "year" or "calender" it's just 28 days 12 times in a row over and over. It's not like we can't go see exactly what day of the week June 18th 2090 will be, that's not going to change. So we should have an actual yearly calender. This would also allow for a "start today" option like nba 2k has (when it works) which for those who don't play nba 2k, it just means you start in current day and they keep all the previous game statistics and scoreboards and new awards if there has been any and trades and stuff like that. Having that in a wwe game would be HUGE but it would require a complete overhaul of the "calender" system they currently have

G&P don't play universe mode in the game's universe mode. They play exhibition and everything else is in editing.

The last good universe mode for me was 19, I’d make bcw and fill it with created superstars, since I wanna say 2k22 it’s gotten to the point where created tag teams don’t even automatically go into tag matches with their partner, take out universe and replace it with create a story so you have the chance to use stuff you already have made (btw is there any way to fix the tag team problem?)
