Learned this the hard way. Now, I make sure to turn mine half way through to avoid burning them. I'm still working on the temp adjustments and so far no more burning my bread, muffins, etc.
I have for years heated the oven to max temperature, loaded the bread(s) add a tray of water, and turn off the oven. Steaming for 20 minutes allows the bread to both rise and start baking. After 20 minutes, open the door to remove the steam, and adjust the oven temperature to the recipe suggestion. Then bake for 10 to 20 minutes, it should be baked then, though you might want the bread browner.
Watch Jack tidy his kitchen would be what my husband says😅. Clean up, wash up etc whilst keeping an eye on the bake. Win win beautifully baked bread and clearing the mess: win win!

Set a burn warning. Okay - have to admit I've not done that before, and of course did get burning on the odd occasion. Top Tip Jack.

Me and my parents made bread during Covid (as we had nothing to do) but always burned the bread! Thank you for the advice!

Never thought to turn temps down on breads, etc but still bake for time!👍 thx Jack. My mom should have emphasized this to me.
