Hi mate fellow panel beater here and whilst a lot of armchair experts are gonna say it’s a hack Job ect. I think you have showcased brilliantly what can be done at home , you don’t always need to make a job bigger than it needs to be . A very smart and professional job in my opinion, so simple and easy and should last many years. Well done .
Might be worth just giving it a light skim with fine filler just to help blend any Minor differences dents in new insert ect . Well done 👍
100%
Hi there, great job. I did my apprenticeship as a panel beater at a Holden dealership crash shop in the early 80's in Brisbane. great video keep up the good work.
Thanks mate
Simple method great results. Thanks for sharing, your adventure.
Mate. Bloody sensational. I have the exact same issue in my hx Ute. I have donor cab and been dreading this job. I've saved this one in my favourites for when the time comes. Thanks
Thanks mate!
Nice work bud, was great to see a different way to do that kind of work👌
Very professional Blake, top work mate.
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome stuff man Looks Bloody Great!
Well done mate looking good 👌
Very well presented professional video. Nice job.
Looking good 👍
Top job mate keep up the good work
Thanks mate!
Awesome mate
Great episode mate really enjoyed it
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks mate
@Evans_Racing ive been enjoying this series so far, I've got a 77 lx torana hatchback in mint julep, which is the same colour as the sedan your working on. I just have one quick question, what's the actual original colour? Cheers John
This colour is actually March 17th which is an LJ colour unfortunately, they are very similar though. The orginal colour is mandarin red as you can just see on the roof under the green and the inside of the car has traces also
@Evans_Racing oh ive never heard of that colour. That's a very different paint choice for someone to choose on a full resto of a lx torana but everyone for their own lol. Cheers for the replies to my posts and i look forward to seeing more stuff to come. Oh and my vote for colour is paint it back to original with the black outs that combo would look awesome.
Thank god thats gone nice job Blake
Brilliant 👍
gday mate , not sure if you are aware your not ment to etch primer before epoxy , it can cause blistering and adhesion failure !
Yeah mate I’m aware, just wanted to etch the bare steel as I didn’t have any epoxy as I said. it is so cold here and the moisture especially since it had just been acid washed, it was wiped off and epoxy’d yesterday
@Evans_Racing sweet as ! as soon as you said it I was like shit I need to let him no now ! come up a real treat , clean as .
For the rust Rusted solutions gel is great.
Interesting, with choice results...
Awesome work, I think I seen what colour you should do it… orange, can see sone under the green
Yes the factory colour was mandarin red
Good stuff
Hi mate just a heads up ... Bad idea to use a panel bond like that for that job there will always be a shrink line that comes back
Must be better than mig welding as even with the mig set low distortion is the enemy of welding thin car body at 20 gauge! Windscreens nowadays are bonded in with the stuff he was using!
@@mikemartin2957 different product all together
Jeez you got some wicked cars man , that LC is cool az if it's the one i seen in Adelaide photos somewhere...Barbados with centrelines?
Yeah mate, it’s Lina mint yep
If you need any more torana parts and are finding the parts hard to find my brother in law has 3 or 4 lx doors and panels and I think he has one body and a complete lx.
And he has lc-lj parts as well if you ever have to do this again the best way I ever seen it done the panel beater had some old footy socks filled with different amounts of sand so if he needed bit more weight he would use full ones or half full ones if it didn’t need as much weight
Nice work Blake.
My only concern is, will it stay seamless as the weather changes ??
I hope it works out for you 👍👍
Are you going to sand back to the tango orange or till the respay primer shows through the green
Hi mate. Did you make any vids on the gluing on your LC? I've got an LC that I'm working on and as an average welder I'm very interested in the glue technique.
Hey Blake
Can I use the same method to sunroof delete on a 2004 vw Passat?
👍
I feel like with temperature cycles you'd have trouble with the filler cracking out due to the panel bond expanding at different rates to the steel and things moving around. Can't say for sure though as I've never done it, it's not a big job for a skilled panel beater to do for peace of mind it's not going to come up with issues in a few years.
Definitely pop the front and rear glass out before painting as it's a much better job
All glass is out now. Agreed
Good stuff man looking good might have to hit u up one day for some tubbs a alittle diff shortning for some nice size rubber thats if u dont mind working on Chryslers lol 😂😂😂
Thanks mate, I don’t discriminate 😆💪🏻
@@Evans_Racing same same I love all cars I'm not RACIST
How come you decided to remove the sunroof.
I think they look great and very old school
Pop up sunroof 😊
Trouble with the sunroofs fitted outside the factory I'd the flexing of the roof allowing water to leak between the surround & roof; they can be a pest to seal & wind noise can be a source of trouble.
Where abouts do you buy the Transtar ??, cheers.
I got this one from hatwell traders mate, there like a wholesaler, I believe 3M do a product the same too
Thanks mate.@@Evans_Racing
DON'T SANDBLAST. Sandblasting will alter the surface tension of the panel and you'll end up distorting it.
Just want i said last video panel bond I’m all ways write I got know reply one my message
Sorry mate lots of comments on last video hard to respond to them all, thanks for watching mate
Cars and things restos won’t be happy
You did it wrong to
What was wrong?
@@Evans_Racing you need a rolling machine to make a groove around the edge to glue it in
@@shanemclachlan421 such as making a small step in the edge of the roof so the fill panel section is flush?.I don't think there would be sufficient sealing area compared with the way he did it.
Y delete it torys look mad with sunroof and spoiler kit
