- There is a “real trend” where we are looking at pulling away from being so involved on social media with our
devices, says Tech Guide Editor Stephen Fenech.
Mr Fenech joined Sky News presenter Tim Gilbert to discuss the rise of purchases for devices known as “dumb phones”.
“Nokia, they were one of the top brands at the turn of the century, back in 1999 they released a little product called the 3210 which sold like 160 million units and Nokia has decided to revive that,” he said.
“There is a lot of people who want to do the digital detox.
“The popularity of these dumb phones is actually on the rise because it does give people that escape.”
Now that the Digital ID legislation has passed without much objection, and Australia continues to progress into total Totalitarianism, sales of these phones should really increase.
That's because the government hates Free Speech
Also, the more you find out about how intrusive the government is in your life, the smaller you want your digital footprint to be. It’s one way of telling them to ‘p..ss off’.
The dumb phones will still track you just get a de-googled phone.
I’ve worked at many telcos, the Government doesn’t just randomly access your phone. If they think someone has committed a crime they get a warrant from a court, then they email a PDF form to the carrier and requests access to the metadata.. but the police are short staffed, so they don’t just hire thousands of Australian staff to sit and watch random phones for no reason
@@Tmm42s yes but Google and Apple do track you all the time.
@@Tmm42sSo your saying we don’t get profiled by a digital footprint than fked with for it? I don’t have bidens corpse waiting for me to drop dead, like him. I’m about to go dumb phone just to get corpo’s ruining live mind control off my azz.
@@user-km7nr8wl1t But no one is looking at this info? Most companies are short staffed so they don’t hire people to sift through data? People out there genuinely think that “Elites” are tracking their location and listening to them which is not true
They're not dumb phones, they're still built in with a tracking systems can hear & see you wherever you go & say
😂😂😂
Facts
It’s so people aren’t on apps all day.
thats why faraday bags are a thing now. when your not making an outgoing call put the phone in faraday bag.
Next is the mark of the beast rollout or will not be able to buy and sell without it and the prime minister will have it encourage the public so will be normalised just like the 2020 with the jabs
I'll admit, I do miss my cute little flip phone.
Love my Nokia flip. It's awesome... And the best part... It's a phone and I can call my friends :P
Oh, P.S. It actually fits in my pocket and a hardly know its there :)
@@axle.australian.patriot I miss my Nokia 3310 which all so fit into pockets unlike smartphones.
So are dumb political parties.
My grandson ditched his smartphone for a year because he was watching porn...so he got a dumb phone. Smart kid.
Imagine being in your teens and being an object of mockery from older people because you spend your entire life with your nose in a phone watching dumb sh**, doing trout pouts and walking into people… 😂
Teens have been the mockery of older people over the entire course of human history.
In tomorrow news: "dumb phones" will be banned because safety 😂😂😂
Never owned smartphone, just Telstra Flip phone...no apps, risk etc. Everywhere you go Zombies only see their phones.
No matter who you are, and even if you work in IT, I have forgotten more about technology than you're ever going to learn and I have a cheap Samsung phone with nothing on it.
I've been saying I want a low jack phone for years
I doubt they work with VoLTE when they cut off 3g they wont work.
I have 2 flip phones that are full 4G compatible... Except they forgot to actually provide 4G that works in my district.
im using a nokia 215 4g and its has LTE, been using it for the last 5 years. you have to look off shore for 4g dumb phones, there not typically sold in australia.
@@user-fe1hy9xv3s Nokia 2660/2720 flip series are available in Australia with 4G.
Opel also make a flip with 4G but the 4G receive range is poor compared to the Nokia.
So if what he says will work after 3g shutdown its not a dumb phone.
I got a Unihertz Jelly 2 because, while it's a smartphone, it's the same size as my favourite dumbphone.
Smart people turn to dumb phones. 😎
Or De-Google an Android
The start of the movie “paper planes” had the one kid with the dumb phone versus all his classmates on smartphones
A. I don't need to carry a half backed tablet computer around in my hand all day because it wont fit in my pocket.
B. I have a phone, because I need a phone to ring people. If I wanted a computer I would buy a proper computer.
C. Too bad for all the people who have 4G phones that can't get 4G service most of the time.
Dumb phones or dumb media? I’m confused.
Mines a burner phone
No such thing as a burner phone in Australia.. anonymous mobile phones don't work here.
@@petesmitt people sign up for sims with other people's Medicare numbers, I do know that.
I don't give a fck who listens in on my phone when I'm taking a shit
@@Magdalene_MadedduSure, but that obviously is illegal identity theft, unlike the legal use of burner phones in other countries.

I have a dumb phone which is a clam shell one that barely hooks up to the internet and has limited functuality and l love it. But will get a smart one eventually.
Iphone is the biggest problem but you people keep fawning over the Tech. and surrender your privacy.
You should go out and buy yourself a personal microcomputer, Fenech. Telephones are for talking. Computers are for computing.
Hipsters
Detoxing off phone as we speak 😂😆
Then how did you place this text.
@@user-km7nr8wl1t that is a seriously dumb question. person might have used a laptop computer, or shock horror, a desktop computer like I am right now ... remember those ...
I was being sarcastic my point is just because you don't have a smart phone doesn't mean your not on social media like you two duh.
@@user-fe1hy9xv3s well said detoxing means work in progress
