This is a new project that came in the mail yesterday. I plan to use it to power a generator/alternator.
It is running at a low idle / slow idle.
Model: 60102
Type : 0111
Trim : 02
Hp : 2
RPM :unknown
Year : 1976
Make : Briggs and Stratton
Weight : 25 pounds
Fuel Usage : 1.5 pints per hour
Fuel Type : gas, propane, 60:1 gas/oil mix Хобби
Nice little motor
no plastic, a minimum of aluminum,
brass in the carburetor.
Looking at this motor, you understand that they did not save on materials.
The only thing is that he probably shocks cheerfully if he forgets and puts his hand close to the candle at start-up.
Greetings from Russia!
NICE to see how LOW they can idle and not expire. best i cld do with one is abt 600 rpm with a digital tach/hour meter before it wud not putter anymore . the ones before 84? had points. the ones after have Magnetron ignition on them . carbs arent too expensive $22, but gas tanks are VERY EXPENSIVE $66+ and that is USED
my dad has this engine, starts first pull every time after sitting for years, we used it on a little scooter 20 years ago was brilliant fun
That governor can be adjusted with the screw on the lever. The manual is online.
Briggs and Stratton Generator Project pt2
I have a 1 1/2 inch pulley on the engine running to a 2 inch pulley on the alternator. I purchased the alternator from farm and fleet for $60. If you have any more questions, just ask.
Eli
ideally 6" pulley on motor to 2" pulley on the alternator like on a car so the motor can turn not too fast and the alternator can turn 4500... 1 to 3 ratio... 1500 rpm to 4500 rpm where the alternator is doing the most generating.
I have a model that is very similar to yours. I'm also trying to make a generator out of mine lol. :D
She is indeed a Magnetron ignition engine. This thing starts on the first pull every time.
It is called a Magneto
+Daniel Bogar
I know it's called a magneto, but under the Briggs & Stratton brand, the put a label on the engine which says "patented magnetron ignition technology."
Oh, my bad. I guess I'm just used to hearing "magneto" :D
That's alright. I've made the same mistake before.
What level do you fill up the oil to? I have the same one that came off an edger , it has no dipstick. I have it filled up to the first couple threads for the cap. Is that right?
Have you mounted an alternator to this engine yet? I have same engine and am planning to do this. I would like to see how you mounted the alternator and pulley sizes.
Do you have any old Briggs parts or engines for sale
Has it been converted to Magnetron or did someone just slap that sticker on it?
These are tough little engines. Parts are still cheap and plentiful, too.
60102 breaks down to a 6 cubic inch "Kool-Bore" aluminum cylinder / plain bearing case / Vacu-Jet carburetor.
What is the HP rating for this model
this one is 2-2.5 HP. it's a great little engine. starts first pull every time
