I loved the trolley buses and I still miss them. Right before they were taken off Ossington, I made a point of riding them as much as I could before they were gone. One night, I was on an Ossington trolley bus that was slowly making its way southbound, between Dupont and Hallam in a driving snow storm a few minutes after midnight. A man with a video camcorder was standing on the sidewalk filming us as we passed by. He knew that scene had to be preserved! I'll always remember that night!

I'm happy that there were no building condos in this 90's! How beautiful blue sky and sunny, it seemed like flesh to me.

This line was the way I went to high school (Central Technical) from 74-78. Great ride, quick acceleration, even in snow.

@Myrtone The infrastructure and the vehicles themselves were up for replacement, the buses were more fuss than they were worth.( If you overextended the reach of the trolley poles, you were dead in the water) and the new thing coming up was natural gas buses so TTC opted to go with CNG buses and scrap the trolley system. The CNG buses didn't last too long. The engines in them were blowing, turned out CNG was a bad choice so they too were scrapped.

Hi John. I was living in Hamilton at the time, thus the HSR trollebus videos. I did live in Toronto from 1957 to 1961 until moving to Mississauga. When I left they were still running mu-ed PCCs on Bloor Street.

@binbrook21c123 Thanks for your prompt reply! Your video has great detail! If you have any more footage of Queen and Ossington (with or without trolleys), could you possibly post it? I have always been fond of that area and there has been much change down there! You had a great view of the east wall of the old Toronto Transfer Tavern at 5:50. It had previously contained a painted mural depicting old TTC vehicles, but it got painted over in 1991. Do you possibly remember that mural?

Not me, but there was a commercial videomaker recording the last year of the TTC trolleybuses. Was at the model railway shows selling the tapes. Forgotten his name. I don't know if they are still available.
