ফিলিপ হেমব্রম, পেশায় একজন গাড়ির মিস্ত্রি, মেকানিক! বহুদিনের চেষ্টায় রাস্তার ধারে নিজের ছোট্ট একটা গ্যারেজ করতে পেরেছেন! নিজে ক্লাস এইট পর্যন্ত পড়বার সুযোগ পেয়েছিলেন! তারপর আর লেখাপড়া করার সুযোগ মেলেনি! চলে আসতে হয়েছিল গাড়ি সারাইয়ের দোকানে! সেখানে কাজ করতে করতেই দেখতেন এক সময়ের বন্ধুরা স্কুলে যাচ্ছে! আর দূরে দূরে সরে যাচ্ছে! নিজের না পারাটাকে গ্রামের ছেলেমেয়ের মধ্য দিয়ে পূরণের কাজ করে যাচ্ছেন! নিজের বাড়ির বারান্দাটাই ফিলিপ স্যারের পাঠশালা!
সন্ধ্যায় বাড়ি ফিরে তাই আর আড্ডা বা ঘুরতে যাওয়া কিংবা মোবাইল ঘাঁটা নয়। ঘরের দাওয়ায় অপেক্ষায় থাকা বাচ্চাদের, নিয়ে বসে যাওয়া! পড়ার আসরে। গত ১৪/১৫ বছর ধরে চলছে এই একই রুটিন। প্রায় প্রতি বাড়ি থেকেই এই গ্রামের বাচ্চারা স্কুলমুখী
