    2:38 that sound brings back so many memories of our 04 IC CE buses that are now replaced with Bluebird Visions and have Child Checkmate.

    I had a 2003 model. Drove it on my route for several years until I got a new one last year. It is still my favorite bus from most others I had. Well actually my all time favorite was a 1976 International Loadstar 1700 5 speed that I had 30 yrs ago when I first started driving. That will always be my favorite...this IC CE comes in second on my list. I've had Fords, Chevys and GMCs through the years but wasn't too fond of them

    Nice bus! My School District bought (5) 2003 IC CE's and (5) 2004 IC CE's. I love the first generation IC CE's. They are good Buses and they last a long time if you take care of them. We only have two 2003 IC CE's (Bus 76 and Bus 77) and one 2004 IC CE (Bus 84) left, sadly. I did a walk-around video of Bus 76 and Bus 77 on my RUclips Channel if you would like to go check them out!

    No offense intended but not such a great idea to leave a bus in gear and exit the vehicle. Yes the parking brake might be engaged but what to say that parking brake may or may not fail?

    You forgot to check to see that 1.) The EMERGENCY EXITS (EMERGENCY DOOR, EMERGENCY Windows and hatches) can be opened so that a human can exit in the event of an emergency, 2.) The buzzer is in working condition and activates when any of the EMERGENCY EXITS and 3.) All other safety equipment work and/or are in stock (First Aid Kit, Fire Extinguisher, and if onboard, Body Fluid Cleanup Kit).

    • @212Elevators

    I cannot believe that anyone pre-trips a bus by putting it in reverse and gets off the bus while it is in gear, even with the brake on. Just not a safe practice. I really hope that the pre-trip shown here is not what is expected of a driver doing any pre-trip, or this is just a video and not intended to suggest that this is a real pre-trip.

    • @jacobfain9
      @jacobfain9 8 лет назад +1

      This is a regular practice on a Pretrip. Exactly what we do in ky too

    • @johnjung9443
      @johnjung9443 8 лет назад +1

      If that is your State Law . . . but it is only to see that the backup lights work? That could be done when you walk back to the back of the bus and open the door At least then you would be inside the bus out of danger and able to react should something go wrong.. Still think it is a dangerous situation. Not done in Ohio. Thanks for the info as to what other states require.

    • @jacobfain9
      @jacobfain9 8 лет назад +2

      +John Jung well there really isn't a danger if all the brakes and other systems are properly operating. which all go on the checklist before the lights.

    • @travisbuskirk2018
      @travisbuskirk2018 7 лет назад +1

      I drove in KY from 2000-2008 and it was never a part of pretrip. Maybe put it in reverse and listen for the alarm but just not a good idea to walk behind a bus with reverse gear engaged.

      Flor Pilar he released the brakes put the shifter in drive the wheels rolled forward,then still on the phone . Puts the shifter in reverse . Federal law states"any commical vehicle driver does not need to be on the phone while the vehicle is moving." The state of NC had this law in affect before it became federal law.

    • @burch0314
      @burch0314  7 лет назад +3

      retired bus driver nc First and foremost, what the law states is that no driver shall operate a school bus on a public street or highway while using a mobile phone.. I'm not sure which part of NC you're from, but last I checked, a parking lot is not a public street or highway. I usually don't reply to trolls such as yourself, but I did just for the sake of educating you, so that you don't make that same ignorant comment again. Be blessed! ✌🏾

      How long have you driven? Before light test switches, this was the only way to check reverse lights. Mechanics do it everyday during inspections.. While I appreciate your concern, I did it every day for 7 years and never had anything happen to me.. Everyone has their preference, this was mine.
