Italian progressive metal masters DGM will release their long awaited 10th studio album, “Tragic Separation” on October 9, 2020. It follows the band’s acclaimed release , “The Passage” from 2016.
DGM started writing new music in the spring of 2019, with the overall process taking almost one year. This was a longer writing process than normal for them since it was the band’s desire to push themselves beyond any boundaries set by their previous work. Truly no small feat given the band’s catalog. The end result is “Tragic Separation,” an album where the band ticks all the boxes of the Progressive Metal genre, but adds more and more of their own personal identity and approach.
Long-time fans need not worry as you can still find all the trademark elements of DGM’s sound with sweeping choruses, technical passages, lightning fast fretwork, big vocals, and bombastic transitions. But the care and dedication to the songwriting emerges in phenomenal songs which carefully encompass everything that goes from traditional progressive metal to a more classic hard rock sound (even giving a nod to Kansas' sound in the title track). The playing is faultless as usual and the melodies are perfectly woven into killer guitars, epic keyboards, and pounding drums.
Not only are the songs presented here simply great music, but lyrically, “Tragic Separation” is a concept album told through the eyes of a protagonist about life and the paths we can go down between the choices we make, plus the subsequent consequences those choices bring to our lives. Among the doubts and second thoughts about the choices made, there is one that echoes in the protagonist’s soul: what if the answer for everything was the path itself? An unanswered question, which is another starting point for a new quest... another beginning.
Watch out for DGM, they are not only Italy’s finest progressive metal band, but an absolute astounding force to be reckoned with. The band will tour on the album as soon as conditions allow.

For me there is no doubt:
DGM is one of the TOP 3 Progressive Rock/Metal bands in the world. "The Passage" already was a mindblowing masterpiece. But the world didn't listen enough. And the band did not get the recognition it deserves.
This new song shows again what DGM knows best: The merger of brilliant technical skills with great melodies and the combination of passionate vocals with impressively transitions. I wish these Italian guys simply the Best! They are fantastic!
What are the other 2 bands? I am really interested btw.

Simone for me is one of the best song writers and guitarists in metal in the last 20 years. Marc sounds incredible as always! This is the album where people discover DGM. I can feel it, just make sure you tour when covid has eased back. I need to you in Sweden!

They deserve more recognition but they should really consider changing their band's name into something else, DGM just doesn't quite score the canny.

Ovviamente tutti molto bravi, peccato però che Mularoni non si scrollerà MAI di dosso l'aura di clone di Michael Romeo, e tutti loro in generale dei Symphony X. Purtroppo (o per fortuna a seconda dei punti di vista), Mularoni ha portato questo perenne riferimento ai Symphony X nei DGM che durante l'epoca Diego Reali era molto meno presente.
Ottima musica sia ben inteso, ben suonata, scritta, arrangiata e prodotta, ma sempre di un sotto-Symphony X si tratta.
Per il talento che hanno, vorrei vederli staccarsi dalla matrice di riferimento, e produrre qualcosa di veramente originale.

Mark Basile comunque questa canzone spacca. Simone Mularoni rimane uno dei migliori chitarristi in Italia insieme a Marco Sfogli. Per quanto riguarda la voce, anche qui ritengo che sei uno dei migliori cantanti in Italia, insieme a Fabio Lione, Titta Tani, Michele Luppi e Adriando Celentano! Al momento nell’ambito rock / metal i DGM insieme a Luca Turilli Rhapsody il miglior gruppo a mani basse!

DGM proves again they're one of the best progpower bands in existence. The main riff is very modern SX like. Some parts of the song reminds me a lot of "numb". Me like!

good grief, how does this only have 173k views? The whole band is crazy talented, and you even avoid the usual gripe I have with prog in that you write groovy, energetic riffs instead of over jazzing every single line and phrase to the point that nobody can tap a foot or nod their head to it.

This is not my type of musician-for "look how good we are and play" band but this one is very good, interesting and a joy for listening while flowing thru brain.

DGM is evolving more and more towards Symphony X.....I hope that means another combined tour. I saw them together with Pagan's Mind a few years ago and was one of the best shows ever.
What a bill! I had the chance to see DGM live last year's, but never had the chance to see neither Pagan's Mind nor Symphony X, which are two other favourite of mine.
@@scottyecora I've seen Symphony X on every tour they've come to Spain for the last years, and is one of the best live bands ever. As for DGM, they don't come around hear so much, and I missed the last one because I had a gig with my bandtthe same day on another city , so I hope they come back again!
