  • Soooo, after reading ISN from DME and making a key for a 2013 Mini, my cohort brought back the modules and said the key doesn't work... OOPs... Figured it might be the key, or maybe ACDP pulled the wrong ISN, sooo, time to get out AVDI and see what's what... Spoiler, I think the original key I programmed in was bad... I ran out of Mini CAS keys, so I put CAS in BMW simulator and programmed a BMW key..

    Hi Tim where you able to pull the cas ISN out that way?

    Did you ever get the gold car bmw simulator working? In the beginning of your video it looked like their connectors were hooked up to the cas you had on your bench. I still haven’t gotten mine to work at all.

      I have gotten it to work on CAS3... found out you can't hookup a cas, a cluster, and a DME, the DME and the CAS need a gateway between them... Shemek Best has awesome emulators and is working on a complete setup... Check him out...www.bestdiagcar2014.com

    Thanks for all the videos, so Abrites is your favorite for BMW key making?

      yes... I wonder why I never see these notifications until months after you folks make them...

    Tim, if you made a key with ACDP, then CAS should of been unlocked already. How it happened that you had to downgrade the CAS again with AVDI? Ive had similar issue when couldn't program a key with ACDP (it wouldn't take the new blank key, I assume it was bad one) but I didn't need to downgrade the CAS after, AVDI was able to connect to it no problem via OBD

    • @timtracy9442
      @timtracy9442  4 года назад

      Well, there really isn't an unlocking of the CAS, what Abrites does is downgrade it to a level that it can program a key into it. ACDP just reads the CAS, then decrypts the data on there server, then writes the data to the key, then you introduce the key to the car and it accepts the key just like it is a factory key....

      @@timtracy9442 Interesting, I guess ACDP does it differently to CAS and FEM/BDC (in my case) when after unsuccessful key programming BDC was open to read/wright via OBD with any other tool including Abrites

    As the cas was got out the car , why not just made the key by eprom jobs thus you got the ISN ?

      Did you watch the video???? I did make a key with ACDP, and it didn't work... That is why I hooked up AVDI and made the key.. If you have a way of making a key via eprom with AVDI, please share that info with us... Because when you haves CAS3++, you are going to run into issues when you try and write back a file to the CAS...

  • @ammreid
    @ammreid 4 года назад

    The key was probably good - the problem i saw with the ACDP video was, unless you didn't film the last part, that you didn't unplug the key adapter, plug back in the main adapter and "Write" the completed file (that contained the new key data) back to the CAS module.

    • @timtracy9442
      @timtracy9442  4 года назад

      What are you using to write data back to CAS3++?? ACDP says to not write back any data, it writes data to the key making it a dealer key, then you just introduce the key to the car.. But this time it didn't work...

    • @ammreid
      @ammreid 4 года назад

      @@timtracy9442 the ACDP is used to write it back to the CAS3++..... its step #3 under the IMMO menu where you were programming the key.. you menu should look like - Step 1: Read the CAS data, Step 2: Generate Dealer Keys, Step 3: Write CAS Data..
      I normally use step 3 to write the last saved file after the dealer key was generated and have no problems - this is @ 3:59 of that video

    thanks for the video...After years of digging I finally was able to understand you video and use BMW-explorer and R270 to do the same...My issue is that I get code: 3045 protection against tampering swt: engine speed limitation, stage 2. the car is a 2013 R55 base. I know I can use Ktage to copy the DME eeprom, but I want to know in the case of a DEAD DME what would be the solution. Similarly, I did an N18 swap on my 08 Clubman and stopped short of marrying the MEVD1722 to the CAS because I didn't know what know now. I appreciate any insight.

      If you are trying to marry a used DME to a car, watch the other video I did about replacing DME on a mini... Basicly you read ISN from new/used DME, thenmwrite that to the existing CAS, then you encrypt it, then you sync CAS to DME.. sounds harder than it really is..

      @minitobe8525 3 года назад

      @@timtracy9442 thanks for the reply. The marriage went fine. Because I'm cross pollinating a 2013 ecu with an 07 CAS, there more than just swapping the ISN.

      @@minitobe8525 Hmmmmm, sorry, didn't know you were using a different DME than stock... Was there much of a difference between 07 and 13 CAS?? 07 should be CAS3 and 2013 should be CAS+ right?? so ISN needs to be encrypted.. but 07 CAS doesn't have encryption...The only thing I have run into is when the DME is not the perfect one for the car, I use AVDI and flash the DME to a different version.. On one car it took 8 times before I found the right flash.. it was all trial and error.. In a swap situation, I think the easiest route would to use a tuner program and change the data to fit the engine the car has.. I am trying to do that on a ford EEC-V that somebody has put a 97 exploder 5.0 into an old bronco and needs deletion of the rear 02 sensors and a couple other things.. these are oddballs, 5.0 with coil on plug.. mustang files won't work, 4.8 triton files won't work..arghhhhhh.. Why do we do this??? it ain't for the money or the fame....

      @@timtracy9442 the encryption portion isn't the show stopped because the car starts otherwise it would just crank and not start.
      I even tried marrying a 2013 ecu with 2013 CAS and same results. The issue seems to be isolated to the ecu. Think of a mini that has a non functioning ecu and you needed to marry another one. Abrites and other tools can change the ISN but on post 2010 models there is another step to completing the process. As you said, it might be the flash but ISTAP marked it for replacement right away. I read also something about FSC tool that enables the engine when updating the certificate.

      @@minitobe8525 hmmmmm.... makes you wonder... As for ISTA, if you watch the video on recovering a cas3+, that CAS was in a 2008 335I, the garage had replaced the high pressure fuel pump sensor and then used ISTA to update the DME, typical ISTA, it got halfway thru programming the CAS, and quit... car wouldn't turn on.. shop called me and I epromed the CAS, flash and eprom. About half of the flash was missing.. I grabbed another CAS that was exactly the same and copied the flash over to his, then fixed his eprom and it worked, I made a copy to the other CAS that was the same numbers, and we put the original back in, car started, but he wanted to update the DME, he tried ISTA again and it bricked the CAS, we put in the copy, and it bricked that one... ISTA support told him he needed a new CAS.. I fixed his original and got the car running, then went thru the options that AVDI had for flashes for the dme, found one that looked like the I level he was trying to upgrade to and programmed the dme.... All the faults went away...

      well......with the cas in the simulator, it was showing that it didn't see the key, at least with AVDI... ACDP does all its work by clipping onto the cas or direct connect with the DME, ACDP is a great tool that I use on CAS4 and also FEM, those I have a tester and test them... This one, it said that the key was made and I sent the modules with my cohort... he called me later in the day and said, this key no workey... He brought the modules back and I broke out the AVDI and downgraded the CAS in the simulator and then made a key... Every once in awhile, you get one that doesn't work the way it should... nice to have other options when things go sideways..
