  • Oregon and Washington appear on the verge of joining the Big Ten. The programs, both charter members of the Pac-12 dating back to 1915, informed Pac-12 presidents Friday that they plan to accept an invitation from the Big Ten once extended, according to Yahoo Sports. The Big Ten is preparing to make those formal offers later Friday, according to multiple reports.

The Pac-12 was never any good. Washington getting into the CFP was a complete joke. They ended up being like 17 point underdogs to Alabama and getting humiliated. The Big 12 was the best conference in college football over twenty years ago but is now a mid-major conference. It's all about the SEC and Big Ten now.

Big 12 fan here and saying turnabout is fair play but you're blaming the wrong conference. What conferences have been/and are getting poached? Wake up to the real agenda going on here with two super conferences (BIG/$EC) and the leftovers. Sounds like a band. The agenda: ruclips.net/video/Mv1h0NvdQ8Y/видео.html
And the Big 12 did approach the PAC (before Yormark came onboard) to do a merger, they said no, seems teams like to do things under the table like UT/OU did 2 years ago with the $EC and the PAC over 10 years ago against the Big 12.

I expect it to rotate but differently. For example, reflecting where teams are located, maybe 1 in 4 played in the West (Pasadena, Seattle), 2/3 in 4 in the Midwest (Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Detroit), and maybe 1 in 4 in the East/Southeast (Washington DC, Charlotte, Orlando). Spread it around to create more buzz and a sense of inclusion.

Patterson is wrong. Unless they're going to be adding more games to the schedule (highly unlikely as 15 games for the CFP champion right now is probably one too many and the CFP is set to expand), these schools are just going to be playing (some) different teams. I get that when Penn State joined as the 11th member it was sort of easier to simply change the branding icon to "B1G" rather than the name because who was actually counting. New York Market is too big to give up, keep eyes on Clemson and Florida St. One of them might be the next to join.
That's the last marketing are that big10 doesn't have a media presence.
The big10 would then be the only conference cost to cost top to bottom.
Basically the big10 media wise is like the NFL cost to cost but not quite top to bottom yet like the NFL but we will get there

@troybaxter they do but also gets kicked around about their strength of schedule.
With Ucla, usc, Oregon, and Washington joining the Big10, it will mostly be two big 10 teams vs. two sec until they add a 12 team playoff, and then it wouldn't matter.
They would be in a solid conference and get a better media deal for the school,
and it would spread their footprints in areas that they have trouble reaching.
The same goes for Florida St, but since Oregon and Washington joined the big may, instead make another play on Norter Dame and stay out of the south market

Here’s a thought: Let’s just make all of college football The Big 10 and the SEC. 100 teams in each conference. Why not? We’ve gone from 8 to 10 to 12 to 14 to 16. So just go ahead and make it 2 conferences with 100 teams each. And then we can have that natural home-and-home between Rutgers & Hawaii every year.

Let’s be honest… the reason the conference presidents hired him in the first place is because they knew they were falling behind and needed something different. Scott’s big achievement was ushering womens pro tennis into the spotlight. But the skill set of hob-nobbing with jet-setters doesn’t translate to college sports.
The networks did this. And you can argue that viewership out west is part of the problem, but networks were already relegating Pac games to a more-hated-than-you-realize late time slot before Scott arrived. Remember when regional broadcasts were a thing? That’s a problem for more than the Pac.

This may very well mark the end of the PAC-12 after the 2023-24 season. However, what people forget is that the PAC-12 has a proposed television contract in place. So, I think there is a possibility that the schools in the PAC 12 could choose to merge with the schools in the Mountain West and call themselves the new PAC-12 so that they can take advantage of that $25 million per school contract that is available to the PAC 12. Schools in the WAC currently only receive $6 million per school, so a merger would definitely benefit them.
