Flos story was rather sad, but she was a great talent... she was part of musical history... I love her in their Ed Sullivan performance of “you can’t hurry love” she looks amazing in that...
Back when you actually needed talent to be a singer. They sounded great in this clip. No autotune, or any other type of technology to make them sound better. They also were sexy but still classy.
@@Gatsbyesque did Diana sleep up the ladder? Didn’t she FUCK all three married men? Wasn’t it Smokey, Eddie Kendricks, and berry? Let’s keep it real here. Mary might slept around but she sure didn’t fuck the boss in the office like Diana did 😂
@@elijahcunn4961 First of all, dating does not necessarily mean sex. Case in point, when she dated Smokey they were kids and he was not signed to Motown. Also, it’s a common misconception of people who don’t know what they’re talking about but like to talk smack about her to say that she slept with married men. Berry was a single man when he dated Diana. He got divorced in 1964 and didn’t remarry until 1990. Eddie Kendricks pursued Diana Ross. Mary was the one who was sleeping with him as she herself stated, he was one of her many affairs, but I believe he was single at the time, so that’s her prerogative. Even going by your narrative, at least Diana would have made her affairs count rather than just being promiscuous for the hell of it, which Mary seems to have been based on her autobio.
This is my absolute favorite Diana/Mary/Florence performance clip. They sang live to the original backing tracks and absolutely nailed it! This was decades before "Autotune."

The christmas album is great. I liked "Born Of Mary" it has a feeling if you are watching a movie dipicting the birth of Christ. The "Children Christmas Song", is a great song too. I started singing it when I was little at my school christmas party. I became our theme song every christmas. "My Little Christmas Tree" is a very sentimental to me.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I've fallen in love with Florence in this video and Diana too, this is the most beautiful I've ever seen Diana looking. Thanks for this, The Supremes are my remedy tonight for my headache :)
The Supremes looked beautiful & performed beautifully too! No one knew they were on the 'cusp' of becoming the # one girl group in the history of recorded music...Replacing the 'Andrew sisters' for the first time...Diana to superstardem...
They took glamour and glitter, music was the platform, made it everyone's. And gave America the opportunity to larger than life. We could feel it. We could hear it. We could sing it too.
I love this video too. I saw the Supremes live when they were known as the "No Hit Supremes" traveling with the Dick Clark Show...and knew they were all stars even without a hit record!

The timbre of Flo's voice, and her use of it, is so beautiful. No one will ever convince me that it was singing ability alone that determined the focus being put on Miss Ross.
Please-- don't get us fans wrong-- we luved the Supreme s and they were Super Great and were the #1 female group in the world.. We were just heartbroken that they were somehow manipulated and controlled into breaking up -- all these girls were young and impressionable.. and one fell for the BIG DREAM BULL SHIT.. and others paid a dear price.. But it will ALWAYS be '''THE SUPREME s...''''' and Flo s children should get some residue for her part and contributions to this very day.. God Bless....
@reality chick: Of course Miss Ballard had the right to be angry about Gordy's decision! But don't you're going to fight him, because for him, there is a bottom line. Groups have had problems similar to The Supremes, and looked into other options. She could have stayed with Mary, selecting a Diana replacement later, or showcase herself in a second version of the Supremes. She did have choices that SHE BLEW. There's no reason to continue this obsession on You Tube. Forty-six years after Miss Ballard's death, just listen to the great music the group left for us. Put your albums on and enjoy.
Baby Love could have been a melody pulled from Schubert or Tchaikovsky, and the way Diana and the Supremes render it, almost from heaven. The expression Diana gives with her eyes and gestures, what's more, gives an indescribable charm to the performance. I recall long ago my mother remarking how she did this. They say she became a "diva. Well, whatever. She was so talented.
I heard where did our love go & baby love long before I saw who was singing these songs... I was drawn to the lead singer’s voice, it was nasally, sweet & syrupy but totally original & I was hooked for life; Diana had already left the group! As time went by, I read much about Diana Mary & Flo as Supremes. I’m also aware of the opinions regarding Flo having a better voice or Mary being the prettiest, or Berry shoving them into the background, on and on, you know the stories! I do think Flo had an amazing voice, as does Mary, but for me it was Diana that opened baby love with that sultry ooooooh & I was sold. The End! I do sympathise with the fate of Flo & Mary, but I can’t blame Diana Ross for being Diana Ross. Some say she slept her way to fame or backstabbed those around her to get superstardom, but whilst there may well have been some of that going on, I can honestly say for me it’s irrelevant. She’s had a phenomenal solo career, that simply cannot be put down to some bitching & backbiting alone. Neither Flo’s nor Mary’s solo careers took off whereas Diana went stratospheric and still is. I don’t know any of them personally, I buy a recording of a voice that I love the sound of. So to conclude, I’ll never blame Diana Ross for being Diana Ross, she’s a gift & an incredibly talented hardworking Lady and I’m very happy that she’s still so relevant today.
Not surprised you were drawn to the lead singer's voice....that's all you hear on every song. That's why I love the Temptations. Each one of them led songs. I got to enjoy everyone's voices.
@@OasisJK22 The lead made them number 1 hit songs. After their failure as a group in the earlier years when Flo & Mary sang lead; being Nicknamed the "No-Hit Supremes", Berry Gordy had Diana record a Song after hearing her sing. When the song was released it was a Hit! The public liked Diana's Voice, it was different and people loved Diana Ross. Their songs became Hit Songs once Diana Ross sang lead. The Supremes gained huge Success, Popularity and started selling hit records thanks to Diana Ross. So Berry made her the permanent lead. It was a Business decision based on what the people & Fans wanted.
Majority of people fell in love with that Voice also, that's how they became Motown's #1 female group. When the other 2 sang lead they had No hit songs and were failing as a Group; Nicknamed the "No-Hit Supremes". Once Diana sang lead, they took off.
Supremes clips just leave me wondering WHAT IF. What if Berry hadnt been so narrow minded and knew that he had several stars in Flo, Mary and Diane and not just one.
Awesome to see this film from 64. Just when the rollercoaster ride was beginning. Interesting to hear the girls sing live with a backing track. Still puzzled that they performed every hit at some point on TV apart from I'm Gonna Make You Love Me with the Temps. Why was it not on the TCB Special? Not even their appearance with Temps on Ed Sullivan.
Because the TCB special was basically a launching pad for Miss Ross's solo career. Mary stated that there was one great number between the Temps and the Supremes on the TCB special that was cut to make room for Miss Ross's solo numbers.
Thanks for sharing. Where on earth do you get these great pieces of music history.....don't suppose there is any footage of the farewell concert(s) now wouldn't that be something....
I don't think Diana did right by the other Supremes. Having said that..they were SIMPLY THE BEST!! I wish I could go back and relive those fabulous Motown years! 🩷🩷🩷
Why can't we just enjoy. the talent of the original three. You can waste your time arguing over who Berry chose to be the lead but you certainly can't question the results. I never see people questioning why Levi Stubbs stood in front of rest of the Four Topps or Martha Reeves with the Vandella's. Enough with the useless hate about an old subject that most are misinformed about anyway.
Diana’s voice is high and silky smooth. She could sing that pop and that gritty soul too. They all a attractive here, but Diana looks prettiest here and was the most attractive, although not necessarily the prettiest. Flo looks very pretty too. Berry knew Diana was the most versatile for his vision. That’s why he bedded her, after she made them famous, to ensure his biggest investment would do exactly what he wanted.

They are a pure joy to listen to and see as well. They were a double treat of natural beauty and wonderful talent that really was a very special sound.
So true.. I love that description - a double treat of talent and beauty.... I think that’s what makes fans just fall in love with them. I only discovered the supremes this year, and yes, the double combo of talent and beauty just mesmerises me. They sure were special. This clip epitomises that
Dig dat an Mary s hip toss move on the happening. Smooth soulful An sensual a great performer an dancers blkluv n blkpwr
I just realized that Mary was a great dancer. She makes those moves seem effortless!!
Mary looked so pretty and such a good dancer.
Thanks for posting one of the very best Supremes videos! How great to be able to hear all 3 of them singing.....pure magic!
I think this is the best video to see!! You can see Mary and Flo and hear them too!! I Love and truly will miss both SIP Florence (Blondie) and Mary 🕊️💕. Singing in Heaven together again.❤️
Mary Wilson was the Best looking Supreme!
Never seen Flo so happy
Love this performance
The christmas album is great. I liked "Born Of Mary" it has a feeling if you are watching a movie dipicting the birth of Christ. The "Children Christmas Song", is a great song too. I started singing it when I was little at my school christmas party. I became our theme song every christmas. "My Little Christmas Tree" is a very sentimental to me.
Incredible footage
Perfection!
MARY WAS BY FAR THE PRETTIEST.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I've fallen in love with Florence in this video and Diana too, this is the most beautiful I've ever seen Diana looking. Thanks for this, The Supremes are my remedy tonight for my headache :)
Diana looks the prettiest here. Yes, she does look good here. Flo looks pretty too and is glowing.
The Supremes looked beautiful & performed beautifully too! No one knew they were on the 'cusp' of becoming the # one girl group in the history of recorded music...Replacing the 'Andrew sisters' for the first time...Diana to superstardem...
I’ve fallen in love with Diana 😍 they’re a wonderfully talented trio... wish I could of been around to see them live in the 60’S
They took glamour and glitter, music was the platform, made it everyone's. And gave America the opportunity to larger than life. We could feel it. We could hear it. We could sing it too.
Simply the best!
I was 8yrs old when i 1st heard this song loved it then still loving it 55yrs later
Loved them all my life
Rest in Peace dear Mary ✝️✝️✝️
Flo and Mary are great back up singers , good job ladies.
Can't get enough of this.. The mic levels should have always been like this.
Totally agree. This giving me chills!
Yes, Michael!! I l aways thought that Flo and Mary's mics were turned down to the point where one could not hear the beautiful harmonies.
I love this video too. I saw the Supremes live when they were known as the "No Hit Supremes" traveling with the Dick Clark Show...and knew they were all stars even without a hit record!
@@USNAVDC Wow, what an amazing thing to witness and recall. Was this the summer of '64, but before Where Did Our Love Go became a huge hit?
@@Tes7000 It was the summer of 1964 ...just as Where Did Our Love Go was becoming a hit. Dick Clark's Summer Caravan of Stars tour included Gene Pitney, The Coasters, The Shirelles and The Crystals. During that tour, "Where Did Our Love Go" became so popular, people when crazy when the Supremes took the stage. The whole show was amazing! So many great stars!
I've met Mary Wilson a few times, and she is just great she has a personality that matches her beauty. I changed my picture on here to one with her...just temporarily. She's on Dancing with the Stars this season. :-)
Mary and Flo...wow!!!😍😍😍
Youth is wonderful
Too nice !!
soo cute!
Mary looks adorable here.
I never saw this. This is awesome.
So Sweet!!
Mary is going to make SURE we hear her ❤️😆❤️
@Donnell Woolard: She ALWAYS DID.
thanks!
Awesome Awesome Awesome
Florence... she was EVERYTHING here!
MORE HITS BY THE SUPREMES ! LOVE THEM !
I guarantee anyone if Flo had the best producer and Motown take a chance to be a solo artist. She would been awesome. Trust me. Berry Gordy didn't want that
@Rich Boy Ant: After her general release from Motown, she was, she was (as David Ruffin was) offered a solo contract, which she refused.
@Rich Boy Ant: Too many "she was" phrases...Miss Ballard was offered a solo contract, which she refused.
I love ❤️ that song it’s good 😌 sounds great 👍
The Girls are very good 😌 and very lovely and I love 💕 all three of them (G Jr)75 👩🏿🦳👩🏽🦱👧🎤❤️💗❤️
Before everything!
WOW, neat performance You can really hear all three different voices in these lovely young ladies. Why were their microphones placed so far apart, did Diane sneak out and rearrange them when Mary and Florence were having a cup of coffee or something? Love “Let Me Go the Right Way!”
Great Video, Big Hugs from Salt Lake City!
thanks! lisa, xxxx!
Love ❤ them both like crazy.July
Gm edagdwg thanks for sharing this story of what happens when you have boss to make sure you get what you want . sad because the other women didn't get the chance to sing just stand back Dianne had the floor most of the time sad Linda j.☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️
Soooooooooo glad Miss W.was blessed to have a blessed life after they broke up.she is real she turned out better on her own god gave her .her wings now she is really happening fun Linda j.☮️☮️❤️❤️💯💯🦋🦋🦋🦋🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
Flo a beast‼️
Mary she look gorgeous very beautiful
Amazing… my birth year too!
FLO AN MARY FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS!!!!
The timbre of Flo's voice, and her use of it, is so beautiful. No one will ever convince me that it was singing ability alone that determined the focus being put on Miss Ross.
no one is trying to convince you, hun ... in fact, it's not about you at all
wow this is a 3 girl group- everyone is hitting it perfect.
@reality chick: Error: I meant, "don't think you"re going to fight Mr. Gordy..."
I'm glad you like it! There's some excerpts of the Farewell Concert on the channel...
Barry was a low down dirty guy. Look how far apart they are
Was trying to put them off the stage!!! DIRTY!!!
I don’t think that was his call
‼️‼️‼️‼️
She had berry wrap around a finger whatever she wanted she got it she was the hole of the group
THAT COULD BE THE MICS THAT CAN'T BE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER BECAUSE OF DISTORTION. SOUND BACK IN THE DAY WASN'T LIKE TODAYS.
WOW!!! listen to Florence @7:18 woooo..oooo .....then smiles!!!
DIANA ROSS Y LAS SUPREMAS ME ENCANTAN DE JOVEN HOY ABUELO
I don't think Diana did right by the other Supremes. Having said that..they were SIMPLY THE BEST!! I wish I could go back and relive those fabulous Motown years! 🩷🩷🩷
The background the best
Happy bday 63 2 me it sad by mary, charlie sarah
Why can't we just enjoy. the talent of the original three. You can waste your time arguing over who Berry chose to be the lead but you certainly can't question the results. I never see people questioning why Levi Stubbs stood in front of rest of the Four Topps or Martha Reeves with the Vandella's. Enough with the useless hate about an old subject that most are misinformed about anyway.
Mary Wilson was always the most beautiful of the 3
Go flo, and that's all i got to say$$$$$
I use to love Ms. Ross. But reflecting back on the Supreme 's the love is not as it was.
Diana had a beautuful voice. I can see why Mary was so jelous of her
Was there a microphone shortage back then?
That was funny! Lol☺️
Why is Diana Ross standing so far away from Florence and Mary? Good grief. I would like to see all of them in the same frame.
Let Me Go The Right Way is AWESOME. Skitsy17, who commented below, said it right... Put the girls together on 1 mike and let them be The Supremes.
