In my case the LC90M cannot be version updated unless I utilize a SIM card, supposedly.....My LC90 has been updated to version 4.6 and the scrolling speed, station logo ID's and improvements to Japanese stations have been identified. I have contacted Choyong regarding the mini and they said it would be comparable. So far not pleased with the improvements on the LC90M. 😭

I think the reception of the bigger one is better, especiallay with external antenna.
Hopefully all radios are not off frequency. Have you contacted the dealer about this issue?

yes you can update without a SIM card... all you need is a wifi connection and a SD card in the radio, mine updated without any problems

I have both LC90 and the mini...both update well using wifi .. no need for SIM card at all
