  • Amerigo Vespucci Italian Training Ship
Considered the most beautiful ship in the world.
Launched originally in 1931 the sailing ship normally travels in European waters. The Vespucci is currently on a 20 month world tour.
The only stop in North America on this voyage is in San Pedro, California which is the port of Los Angeles.
The Amerigo Vespucci is considered to be the most beautiful sailing ship in the world. When the Vespucci is in port they let people take a tour of the decks of the ship. The teak wood decks, brass finishing’s, hemp ropes and heavily varnished woods are all wonderful to see.
The vessel is a full-rigged three-masted steel hull and they have the capability of sailing or using power diesel engines to travel.
When traveling using the manual stern rudder the ship requires the use of four steering wheels controlled by two men each.
It was a wonderful thing to be able to visit this ship. The ship will be traveling to 30 ports in 27 countries during its world tour.
The Location was San Pedro Harbor.

The ship was fantastic to see and we can't stop talking about the young cadets making a 20 month journey and seeing the entire world. So cool and don't know if I would have been up for that when I was that age. Thanks for watching.

The most surprising thing I have read about Amerigo Vespucci is that he was unaware that the continents of the new world had been named after him until many months later.

It's really nice to see and follow Amerigo Vespucci's tour around the world and show how much he is appreciated. I only saw it once in my city in Italy, it was fantastic but I couldn't go up because of the very long queue. I can't wait to see her in Hawaii, Tokyo, Seoul and the United Arab Emirates.
Saluti dall'italia e grazie per questo reportage!
