  • While tourism is a fantastic industry with opportunities for anyone to enter at any stage of their career, it is also a very complex, responsive and adaptable sector that is worth researching and studying to help shape its future.
Eliza Raymond is doing just that. After many years working in tourism, Eliza felt that there were a lot of questions that needed answering. This led her on a path to study Tourism Management at Victoria University of Wellington, where she is now a PhD student.
Through her research into children who travel, she hopes to create a child-centred resource that will improve family tourism and also offer better guidance to operators in this space.
With calls for more sustainable travel and transforming our industry for the better, Eliza believes now is the perfect time for more people to get into tertiary education and research. She challenges everyone to consider their responsibilities as advocates for New Zealand and for the sector as we shape the future of tourism.
