I disagree with your take for multiple reasons. 1: I like adding drums and beats to songs sometimes. It wasn’t my intention to make it sound “hip hop,” I was actually going for a more retro video game vibe. 2: I disagree with your take that these even are “hip hop beats” simply because of how the drums sound. More goes into making hip hop than just a drum pattern or patch used for drums. 3: music is a melting pot and no single genre owns any sound. It’s more fun to experiment and change things up. This is just the sound I ended up landing on with some of the songs on this album. If you listen to my other music, I have plenty of more traditional sounding dungeon synth music. And even in this album, I have several songs with little to no drums in them. But I don’t want to put myself in a box and limit myself to only using certain sounds because my music falls into a certain genre. I am very against the idea that any music should stay “in its own place.” My next album may not have any drums in it at all, but that will be a creative decision based on what I like and think is best for the music, not based on the genre. If drums in dungeon synth isn’t for you, that’s fine. Tastes are individual. I just disagree with your stance that crossing sounds between genres shouldn’t be allowed. You may like my other albums more if you don’t like this one because of the drums.
idk why but that last one "Until we walk amongst the stars" almost brings me to tears... Feels like the collective emotions of every player and DM I've ever ran with rolled into a song somehow and its overpowering. Also I ADORE the album art, excellent work on this album dude!!!!
Thank you so much! You’re the first person to say anything about that song. It has a special little place in my heart, and I’m so glad it stood out to you!
I've just started playing my old Fighting Fantasy gamebooks all over again (haven't been playing them for 35 years ^^ ) and the YT Algorythm sent me this. "The Mountain Path" has officially become the Main title that starts each of my adventures!
Absolutely loving these releases Simeon! Found your work about a month ago and have added all of it to my main rotation of music to work too. such perfect vibes.
This is really great! The lo-fi character enhances the atmosphere immensly. It feels raw, gritty, savage but also captivating, enchanting and beautiful.
I was reading meanwhile listening to this, and I was about to finish the page but I just couldn't concentrate when _"Until we walk amongst the stars"_ (42:43) was playing, it's so different from the other songs, but, at the same time, matches so well as a final song, it's sad and kinda romantic... it's simply beautiful. Thanks Argonaught/Simeon for this music, all your music.

@@Simeon_Neese :'( Grazi a dos merci beaucoup to you entirely my friend, did you see my other comment on cubist medievalism? hahah. DId you create the artwork or know who created it???
Your Dungeon Synth really has a special feel to it. I'm not sure if it's the composition or general atmosphere, but it's the most interesting Dungeon Synth I've heard in a while. It might be that you're throwing in some lofi beats and generally more going on in the composition, whereas a lot of Dungeon Synth (that I've heard) is more scaled back and ambient. I love it! Keep it up!
Thank you so much! I do try to do a mix of melodic and ambient. So I’ll always try to throw in something slow and ambient between a few more complicated songs. I also like to mess around with time changes and polyrhythms too which I find fun :) Thanks for the encouraging words!! ⚔️
Nailing the vibes, brother. Keep it up! Our channels have a lot of cross-over, it seems. I just started dabbling in DS over the past year or so as well. It's been really fun to discover.
I love that it's atmospheric dungeon synth but with Gameboy Advance thrown in. That 8-bit direct sound stereo bass and chorus. Exemplified in "The Skeleton Key".
Hey man I love the weeping silence track. I've probably listened to it about 100 times now no joke. How is it that you made this music if that alright to ask? Some specific app or software? Id love to know!!
Thank you so much!! I actually made the album using garage band, and then did mastering for the album using Reaper. I’m not an expert at mastering, so I was basically just making sure my levels were consistent from track to track and doing some light post EQ adjustments.
Thank you! Which track specifically did you want to use? Just curious. But you don’t need to pay me for it! If you feel like supporting me, you can send me whatever you want on bandcamp, but only if you feel like it! Thanks for asking!
@@Simeon_Neese The first one its really cool. Im making a roleplay game, just a indie one im not big developer ha, similiar to yourself. Id love to use it as background to some of my videos and what not. Id be happy to throw you a few dollars sure :) Thanks man!"
Wtf with the hip hop beats? Why things can’t be in its own place? Damn…

Blacks are highly underrepresented in the medieval period.

in what way is this a hiphop beat lmao
Man this is great, the extra rhythms set it off.
Glad you like the drums! It was a bit of an experiment for me.
love the worbling sound "The Weeping Silence" has. I don't even know what to call it, but this was scratching a big ich of mine!
I believe you’re hearing the detuning effect! Basically a pitch modulation.

So nice. The 1st one is my favourite. I like so much this ascension vibe
Into the Dark is my favorite. That background melody at the end is great.
