    Awesome! I agree, the GRC is the perfect car to drive through the winter, sticks like glue with proper snow tires and super fun to toss around too.

    Had mine out by the blue ridge parkway today with a chance to drive in snow that was a couple inches deep. Mine was on continental dws06 and those tires proved to be confidence inspiring and clean snow and slurry mix. If I wanted the car to stay civilized it did so without fuss. But with traction control of I could keep very clean and controlled slides which gave me a strong feel for how to handle the car if it does break loose. However, I had to stay very alert to the road conditions. The first patch of ice I found I stopped to test. With traction control off in sport mode, I put my two left wheels on the ice and attempted to accelerate. As is predictable I had so little traction that the lsd’s did not engage and the corolla remained at a standstill until I turned traction control back on. That knowledge kept me behaving myself in mountain passes thanks to the likelihood of unpredictable road conditions. It was a much more enjoyable experience than I had in the snow on the same tires in a 2014 wrx sti

    My GRC finally has an arrival date. It looks like I will miss the first winter.
    How does the Mazda3 handle the snow? I'm debating Mazda3 or CX30 for my future college grad

    • @NEMotoGuy
      @NEMotoGuy  10 месяцев назад +1

      Eyy congrats on the GRC! Getting the official arrival date is big!
      I was hoping to make a video of driving the Mazda 3 in the snow, but the storms ended too soon lol. From the 2+ years of owning and driving the Mazda 3 in the snow, overall it did great with no issues or getting stuck. Granted we never drove when there was a heavy storm or blizzard, so I can't speak to those levels of performance.
      The good thing about the Mazda 3 Turbo AWD is that from factory they come with 215 wide wheels/tires that are all season. So this is perfect for cutting through snow. The only thing with the Mazda 3 I will note is the ride height/clearance is pretty low. Comparing it to the GRC its very low.
      With winter tires the GRC felt unstoppable! I was very confident no matter where I ended up or how much snow was accumulating. Between the AWD, fairly thing snow tires, and the rally-ish ride height the GRC is a BEAST!

      It depends on where you live and how the weather has been lately in your area? If you have tons of snow/ice/rain/cold weather still, it’s definitely recommended to run something other than the summer tires for safety.
      We had a couple snow storms here in MA in the past month. I don’t expect to see anything severe again here this season and could probably get away with running OEM summer tires now.

    Does it bother you that there is no armrest or center console area?

    • @NEMotoGuy
      @NEMotoGuy  Год назад

      Not even a little bit. If no one ever commented about no armrest in this car I wouldn’t even notice. The ergonomics of the driver seat/cabin is excellent imo. Either I’m shifting or my arm kinda just rests on the side bolstering of the seat/my leg. Honestly, I’m not even considering the arm rest mod. If you need more space, then maybe, but that’s not even an issue in the GRC.

      I am definitely interested in getting all windows, but the windshield, tinted. But I don't care for very dark tint. I personally like factory level tint at the legal 35%. I like to be able to see out of my car.

      No, I had recently switched over to snow/winter tires (Continental Viking Contacts). Excellent snow tires. The OEM summer tires would have immediately got me into trouble in this snow/weather.

      @@jasonholliday1529 Ahh, no this car does not have an engine block warmer. You can order them, but I do not believe they have them for the GRC from factory. It doesn't get below zero degrees here usually, so I never really found the need for it.
