Love the way our Heavenly Father, Holy Spirit and the Hope of eternal life in Christ is communicated by John Piper! It's a daily walk hand and hand with God and denying the pleasures of this world for our treasure in heaven to give Glory to God forever and ever!
I still don't know how to do this right with a pure heart that doesn't burn out and filled with OCD and anxiety about others' lack and feels irrational guilt when God gives us means of His grace all day long. Ephesians 4:24 also says to "put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth." I'm so anxious and burned out and the moment I take rest I hear inner voices accusing me of not really loving people. I'm so fearful of loving money that I don't save any. My mind is so torn up by a works based righteousness.
@Jeff Backus thank you so much for taking the time to not only reply but to pray. I'm still in progress but doing better. Just started seeing a new therapist and have pulled back from several commitments. I'm intentionally entering a season of stopping and listening and not trying to give away more than I have. I'm learning that deny yourself does not mean neglect yourself but it simply means to live for the kingdom of God and worship Him in all you do rather than deny Him by pursuing excess or by holding anything in our lives with too firm of a grip of ownership. I'm learning that I've too often had the posture of trying to do His job for Him when I encounter someone else's suffering whether near or far. I genuinely have so many ideas for future ministry on a weekly basis and it's so hard to discern what He wants me to commit to. I'm doing my best to slow down and walk day by day in faith and patient trust that He will lead me without me having to pry open doors. I feel led to ask if you happen to be in Orange County California? Either way God bless you brother.
