    Thanks so much Karen. You make it look so easy and your commentary is really helpful. I have watched this several times and will try and copy it. I notice you have a very light touch with your brush, something I still have to learn, from an old man in Canada.

    • @KarenRiceArt
      @KarenRiceArt  3 года назад +1

      Glad it was helpful Charles in Canada! I think that light touch developed over the years. Mainly so I don't disturb the paint underneath! I hope you have fun painting it! :)

    I don't know how you get such great results on Canson paper - just shows what a great artist you are. I cannot get great results with cellulose paper. I wish I could it would save me a lot of money - LOL
    But thank you so much, as always, for such a great tutorial!!

    • @KarenRiceArt
      @KarenRiceArt  3 года назад

      Thank you for your comment, really pleased you like the tutorial. Sorry for any confusion, but I used Canson Heritage paper which is 100% cotton. I have updated the listing. I agree cellulose paper is tricky (I find working on a smaller scale helps when using it). I have found over the years, the best value and good quality watercolour paper (that I always recommend to my students) is Saunders Waterford 300g (all surfaces). I usually buy it in sheet form 15 x 11 (in bulk) to save money. I hope this was helpful! Good luck with your watercolours... have fun 😊

    • @SuzetteG316
      @SuzetteG316 3 года назад +1

      @@KarenRiceArt Thank you for that clarification. I use mainly Arches paper and love it but I might give the Canson Heritage 100% cotton paper a try too. And I'll also look into the Saunders Waterford paper. :)

    Fabulous content on this channel -very informative and thoroughly enjoyable. I do have a question: your clouds give an illusion of a soft rain, a mist-like atmosphere, coming from the clouds. Was this created from a wet-on-wet application or by technical style? If by the latter, I am hoping you can explain what technique you used to create look. Thank you.

    Love this! And all of your tutorials I've seen so far. I'm wondering do you have to consider the use of gouache mixed media because of the " watercolor police" ?

    • @KarenRiceArt
      @KarenRiceArt  3 года назад

      Hi Laurie, so glad you are enjoying my tutorials, thank you! Thank you for your question. Years ago I was one of the watercolour police! I would not allow white, black, green or Paynes Grey in my lessons! Now I just go with the flow! How times have changed! If I were entering this into an exhibition I would say it was a watercolour with white gouache. Hope this was helpful :)

    I ordered a couple of the black velvet brushes since they get so many good reviews.. and I'm finding my size two is already shedding bristles after only three uses. Has anyone else had this issue? I was quite disappointed, I have Masters Choice (Hobby lobby store brand) brushes that hold up better.
