Your videos helped me tremendously in conquering rhythm. Literally after watching this video I could complete several assignments with quite complicated rhythm patterns that I have almost given up on. I think your videos are the most helpful on this subject. Thank you very much.
Your lesson really cleared up a lot of confusion that I have had for a long time! Thank you so much for making musical education accessible and fun for all of us! I am very glad that I have found your channel and I look forward to enjoying more of your teaching.
THE BEST TUTORIAL EVER. I started learning sheet music and is really bad with rhythm but i got really good in identifying pitches. This video helped out a damn lot.
Great presentation!! I had always been afraid to play music with too many versions of sixteenth notes. You nailed it! However, am I counting the last measure wrong as 1e + a 2+ 3+ 4+? Thanks for sharing. 😊
Hi Tim. I have downloaded all your videos about rhythm - at least I think I have. Iam sure that Isaw one in which you explained how to handle rests, but I have gone through all the videos I have, but I don't find it?
@ 15:24 a LITTLE bit of late reaction (delay in finger back lift at +). and these kind of late reactions happen to me ALL the time. It's frustrating at times.
I've been trying to count subdivisions for 30+ years, but the opposite way. I was counting only the big ones and trying to subdivide the small ones... What a mess! For so long I decided to ignore the tempo notation and use only my intuition, but is kind a "guess" for complex subdivisions. Now everything is clear and I can count the subdivisions. A simple way to explain the things, over complex and formal words. A big THANK YOU master!
Hey students, I highly recommend you check out this lesson after this one. It's the Best Way to Count Rhythms. You will learn how to count much more accurately. Link: ruclips.net/video/lK0V54_E0bk/видео.html
Thanks So Much Tim, this lesson gave me just what I needed, reading music is something I've always wanted to learn but getting the rhythm right always evaded me so I got frustrated and ended up quitting several times, but this time gonna be different!!
You are truly a life saver! I was about ready to give up on counting rhythms because I felt discouraged that I could not understand but your videos have helped me tremendously! Thank you so much 😊
@@LessonsOnTheWeb Your lessons are great, however, it would be nice if you were including TEMPO during the lessons, as some 16th notes are a similar time to the 16th notes.
You have a way to explain. I never thought I could understand the music theory ( I got by with natural rhythm) but I sure thank you SO much. It makes sense to me now.
TIA Tim, Around 2:08 you show the eighth notes counted as 1, +. In your other video, and later in this video you count them as 1e, +a; 2e, +a etc. It seems to me that saying 1, + the duration is shortened too much and thus may sacrifice accuracy?
One question: the when you count 1e+a takes quite a long time it seems like you will end up around 50bpm. But songs are around 100. So do we supposed to count twice as fast?
The subdivision of the eighth connected to the sixteenth was not broken down enough. What I mean is, is the sixteenth note on (a) in the 1,2,3,4 beat? As in is it on the fraction on beat 1 (e and a), or beat 3, or beat 2? Or does it matter? The measure for that section looks like it covers all four beats, so im confused if I need to be playing the sixteenth note on (a) in the first beat or (a) in the second or third or fourth beat? Im a very visual learner so implied learning confuses me a lot.
Is it okay if I always count using the "x e & a" method? Like for example if the whole bar consists of 4 quarter notes, I will still count 1 e & a 2 e & a 3 e & a 4 e & a instead of 1 2 3 4.

I wish all the music teachers actually played the Rhythms like you do. So many just say what the values are and never show it in use. Thank You.

Good teacher! He explains it with out going off track and does some demos that helps! Keep it up friend!
I looked at the dotted eighth and 16th note at 13:30 the opposite way. The 16th gets the 'a', so the 8th gets everything else. Thanks for the lesson.
Great material , thanks
Great presentation!! I had always been afraid to play music with too many versions of sixteenth notes. You nailed it! However, am I counting the last measure wrong as 1e + a 2+ 3+ 4+? Thanks for sharing. 😊
Hi, it is better count the e + a even after the first 1, but if its hard/tiring to speak that quickly while playing, you might not need to.
Thanks. Your explanations are comprehendible. Keep it up.
