Folk Songs of Luciano Berio are for Mezzosoprano, not for soprano, because of his wife (since 1950 till 1966), Cathy Berberian who was mezzo and who is singing here.
I also found this surprising. The score avoids polemic and just says 'voice'. Not a bad idea, considering. If you can sing it at this pitch then go for it!

This is great. At 9:22 I definitely hear trumpet but I don't see it on the score, only clarinet - am I going mad?
No, not mad. I came to this score video to try to find it. I think it's the original score with variations.
