In those days once Boycott reached 30 he was a very hard man to dismiss and that day Boycott looked as if he would be batting for the next 5 days. Kapil Dev sent as a nightwatchman, a guy who would score one of the memorable innings of Indian cricket history. But he showed the class, scoring 22 not out of 15 balls, no matter whatever put against you, he will emerge as the winner with grace. I wish I could see him play live, the stories my father told me about him, just makes me go in the past and watch this guy play..

If you have to pin point one event that triggered this colossal change, it would be the WC'83 win. If you have to attribute one point of time, then it would be his unbelievable, never-to-be-repeated innings of 175* in that WC which gave so much belief to the team and the fans. I had an opportunity to meet him in person in Sunnyvale (Bay Area in California), but did not. Just wanted to keep the aura and that mystic going....donno just a crazy thought....may be I feared if he would treat me as a regular fan.
