While speaking to India Today Consulting Editor Rajdeep Sardesai, on Stars of 83 - a special show, Ranveer was seen in tears at the mere thought of being a part of a film that presents India's historical win on celluloid.

Mohinder Amarnath was my hero who is the only indian cricketer played all type of cricket shots and got out on all types shots nearly. He was an exceptionally intelligent and a natural ability cricket all rounder.

Say what you want,players of them days did not have tattoos,fancy haircuts,huge paychecks,fancy cars..but still had far more skill and guts and charisma than any one of today's especially post 2011

Actually during '83, they were already in senior players category, with the little master sunil sir n yet he gave brilliant performance in almost all matches of the world cup, including man of the match, in the final.....👏...thanks...👍...

I cried so many times watching the movie and this interview. As a Former Cricketer being the underdog team and winning matches was always part of me so seeing what Indian squad went through in 83 i could relate to it. Hats off to Ranveer for his acting skills. I couldnt see anyone else in the Bollywood who can play Honorable Kapil Devs role.
I hope one day My country Bangladesh will win the world cup and we can be part of the history for our nation too.

One good thing about 83 is that .. all the players got a equal time for their roles and it wasn’t just focused on Ranveer

I watched this movie 5 times, first hindi version and 4 times Tamil version. Every time i wanted to see Ranvir Singh on the screen but believe me i saw Mr.Kapil Dev all the time. All the characters have given their 100%.
One co-incident that i was 1 year old when India won world cup in 1983 and my son was one year old when Dhoni's team won for the second time. ✌
Now cricketers are enjoying with lots money because these legends made cricket become religion after 83. Actors blessed for acting those roles...

What a movie. Even after being born in 90s , I was able to traverse to 80s and live the moment through this movie. And like in this interview, my eyes were moist during most part of the movie (maybe I'm also a cry baby 😂). Thanks for bringing this experience to us.

They showed us what team bonding means, everytime I watch this movie, it brings tears in my eyes, don't know why it's rated so low, this is one of my heartfelt all time favourites.
Winning a world cup is exceptional memories but i was not born then. Not able to enjoy those moments but this movie gave the pain, belief, happiness, sprits of indian cricket emotions, and take us to 83.

Completely agree. I too felt he was a bit too "emotion-less" and weird while interviewing. Sometimes he said stuff which really wasn't necessary.

Salute to our cricket legends who made proud our country. 1983 we won world cup,I couldn't watch it because there was no TV then in our town,we would listen on transistor or read in newspapers. Eagerly waiting to see this special film, Like Kapil Dev said,they have brought back them live, 1983 memories flashing back.

I was just born and heard these stories in all child hood days till end of 90s. Till date i only remember the names of only the world cup team of 83 that was the impact of this 83 win. We are only witnessing what is in front of us in what we are seeing or reading. Think about what these 14 men went through in real life... as rightly said by Kapil Sir, an individual can only inspire but it takes a team to win. I was 9 years when India won the World Cup, and I still remember we were all out with 183 Runs on the board. And everyone in the house said India does not have a chance... But things proved to be different ... It took guts to bowl out the best team in the World for 140, and I salute the grit, and determination these men put in to inspire the next generation of Indian cricket. We have come a long way and 83' has been that stepping stone... my prayers for good health to all the 83' players, and best wishes to the actors who have tried enacting them on celluloid. India may win many World cups, but 83' will always be special.

I think there should be a movie about 2003 world cup : what could have been. Building a team from scratch and fighting for the world cup. That would be my childhood. i really hope that happens.

I have seen him play since 1980s he got hit on head jaws face nose got injured the most like no other player ever in cricket history you can check about him and you will be shocked to know how brave and courageously Mohinder Amarnath hit the hook shots with ease to the worlds fastest bowlers.
